Hanakagura Hotel

It has a good atmosphere. Warm and friendly like home. You can relax. I used the hot spring in daytime at the weekend. I found it quite spacious. In the furthest outdoor onsen you can lay back and look at the highest mountain volcano in Hokkaido called Asahidake. I like feeling the cool breeze in my hair and relaxing the tired body in the hot spring water. There is free cool water to drink in the changing room. The cafe staff were friendly but it closes at 3 pm, which seemed a bit early to me. Delicious ice creams. The best thing is to be outside in a hot spring and able to see the mountain range in front of you. This makes it special! Good value at 700 yen (£5) for your visit. If you belong to JAF (like the AA or RAC in the UK) I think you can get a discount. There is ample free car-parking at the Onsen hotel. If you have time, it's definitely worth driving up Mt. Asahidake and taking the cable car to the top. There is a great and famous onsen near the top of Asahidake. Try their outdoor hot spring too.

The hot springs were very good and the temperature of the hot water was optimal.
The sauna is also nice！
I go to pick insects at night in summer.

We stayed in one of the houses outside. It’s is spacious but upstairs can get pretty without air conditioning. The hotspring is great here. The hotel is a bit older but clean.

Booked this for my family of 4 upon landing in Asahikawa from USA. We stayed in a cottage booked online. It was great for us except there was a slight oder of cigarette smoke. All of the cottages are smoking, but are deoderized. The cottage was clean and comfortable. The staff was professional and helpful. We did not eat here, so cannot comment on the food. There are no restaurants nearby and the restaurants on-site close at 8:30, as does the front desk. I would stay here again as long as I could secure a non-smoking room.

The hotspring is open to non guest for 650yen. It offers to external pools, sauna, cold water pool, high and medium temperature pools. The pools are comfortable even during weekends when they hit peak.

One of the best onsen hotels in the area. Scenery is breath taking and staff are very sincere. Very relaxing. The only downside of this place is that there is smoking area and you can still smell the smoke.
