Jr Inn Hotel in Asahikawa

Checking into the hotel on Feb 23rd, the 'Ginger Kan' (姜Kan) at the front desk had an abysmal attitude and showed blatant discrimination towards Chinese people, which severely detracted from my Asahikawa trip.

1. First, she was extremely unprofessional. She took my passport and fiddled with it for about 3 minutes, then, in a questioning tone, told me she couldn't find my booking and demanded I show her the confirmation email.
2. After finding the booking, she challenged me with an attitude of 'did you change the dates, blah blah blah' because I had modified my check-in date. During this time, my passport was on the counter. I politely asked if she still needed it, offering to put it away if not, but she curtly told me to leave it there, saying she needed it...
3. Being a light sleeper, my request of 'would you please arrange a quiet room' was completely ignored. She maintained a cold expression throughout and offered no response. I understand that some hotel rooms might be pre-assigned, but her refusal to communicate made me wonder if it was a training issue or a discrimination issue. This is the first time I've encountered such a front desk experience, both domestically and internationally.
4. When signing the confirmation form, I abbreviated my English name. She was very pushy, insisting: 'Please sign your passport name.' I told her that was my name, and she argued with me back and forth. Because I didn't want to waste any more time on my itinerary, I signed as she demanded. I've never encountered such a requirement for a hotel signature, neither in Japan nor any other country. Later, the gentleman behind me was also subjected to the same demand. He calmly stated, 'I've been to Japan four times, and this is my signature,' before she finally relented.

In summary, this is truly the first time I've encountered such a terrible work attitude and discrimination against Chinese people from a JR INN Group employee! The other hardware facilities were acceptable, aside from a curly hair on the duvet upon entering and the bath mat and bath towels being stuffed into one plastic bag when restocking the next day. Otherwise, no major issues.

After communicating with their manager, I was told they would retrain the staff. I'm unsure of the follow-up, but I hope future Chinese guests don't encounter such a frustrating person.
