GRAND HOSTEL LDK Osaka Shinsaibashi in Osaka

This was the first hostel I stayed at in Osaka, and actually the first hostel of my life since this was my first solo trip. I arrived late at night, and by the time I got here it was already past midnight. Only the security staff was at the counter, and although he didn’t speak English, he patiently communicated with me using Google Translate (I had informed them in advance that I would be checking in late). Their service attitude was really good.

I didn’t sleep very well on the first night though. The sound from the upper bunk was quite loud whenever the person moved, and there was also some loud snoring. I guess this is part of the luck factor when staying in hostels.

But I really liked the bathrooms! They were very clean, and the water pressure in the shower was strong, which felt great. The lobby is also very spacious with plenty of seats, and the sofas are super comfortable. After walking the whole day, resting in the lobby felt amazing. The location is also excellent.

Overall, I think this hostel has extremely good value for money in Osaka. Highly recommended!

This review is for the twin room with private bathroom: It was spacious (though you might have some trouble with a big luggage) and clean, and the pillows were the most comfortable out of the three places we've stayed in in Japan. However, take note that there's no eating or drinking allowed in the rooms, so if you need hot water you'd have to go to the kitchen on the reception floor to get it. The twin room comes with slippers (which I believe comes at a price for the dormitories), towels, basic toiletries, a fridge, and two hangers. It was good enough for a one night stay for us. Most importantly the location was great, within walking distance from the metro station (if you have luggages head towards Exit 1-3 for the elevator instead of 6 as Google Maps tells you) and just a bit over a 10 mins walk to Dotonbori. I would consider staying in this hostel's dorms the next time I travel to Osaka alone!

Everything was great! The room was clean and spacious. With a big mirror and seats for make up time, 2 clothes horse. There was one plug and USB ports in the capsule, enough space leave your stuff inside, like clothes for next day, hand bags, backpack also a safer. The bathroom was clean and the shower very good. Towel was provided and amenities as well. Kitchen well equipped, fridge (just put your food in bags so hey cannot see what's inside, or they might steal your food), free coffee and tea. Reception very kind. I would definitely go back!

Positives: great location, very accessible, awesome team, a LOT of amenities. Easy keycard access, doton's 10min, smaller streets are 5mins away, makes Osaka walkable. Easy connection to Universal studios. Good privacy, light, etc. in the room.

Negatives, although some are not the hostel's fault: Many sick people, too many people per room, two toilets only (never had a problem though), people not following the rules and no easy way to report them. Not sure where to shave, so I just didn't...

And the mattress is ... for someone weighing no more than 40kg. Really not good.

It definitely exceeded our expectations. The hotel is really cute, organized and clean.

There's a great common area and kitchen and they also serve breakfast for a very reasonable price (I believe it was ¥450 in March 2022).

The room was cozy and basically had everything we needed including all the amenities and a kitchenette. (We got a family room)

The down side was the connection with a next door room through a door inside our bedroom. I mean, it was locked from both sides, but the people from the other room tried opening the door (I want to believe they didn't know there was another room on the other side) and it was a pretty scary situation at the moment.

I wouldn't recommend it for a family with kids, but a great place for solo travelers or groups of young people.

I've stayed at this hotel and their service is good, and room is also clean. I also met a housekeeping guy, he's from indonesia and caught my attention because he speaks english, french and korean fluently
