The front desk staff was incredibly kind. I'd love to stay here again!
Big and traditional Japanese room. The service is great
Pretty decent hotel in the alley of Kyoto. No frills hotel but you get what you need. Free breakfast included, it was simple yet filling. Don’t expect too much for breakfast since it’s free. Huge upside is the very spacious toilet and separate bathroom
The hotel is a bit old, but the toilet is very modern. I stayed here in winter, and the room was super warm. Cleansing products, body lotion, and toothbrushes were all provided for guests to take, which was very convenient. Highly recommended!
Very nice hotel and helpful stuff. Hotel is little bit old but very clean with very spacious rooms. The location of the hotel is perfect, on the walking distance from the metro station, Gion quarter ( 5 minutes) and Nishiki market (15 minutes). We enjoyed our time in Kyoto.
Loved the location, only few miles minutes to train station and walking distance to market place and department stores

Place had working netflix. 10/10.
Staircase up to the bed is kinda horrifying but the place is honestly quite good for the price. Walls are paper thin but they provided ear plugs.
I elected a room that can be randomly allocated by the hotel which we got a small room. It was nice and cozy. I loved the bathroom and the location was great. Closed to train station.
Close to temples and shrines, good price.
Will book for another stay in Kyoto and recommend to friends.
Very satisfied, the location is excellent, and you can reach the surrounding scenic spots in ten minutes.
The room is clean, the food is good, and the location is very convenient
Good location. 5 minutes to 2 metro lines. Gion is 2 minutes walk away. On the intersecting street. Clean, nice staff. Umbrellas are provided during the rain. If you find fault, then the window is on the neighboring wall, but not even completely, but partially) if you need a hotel to spend the night in a clean place with a convenient location, then it is suitable. It’s an experience stay in Japanese room
Experience go to the ceremony at 6 in the morning but all in Japanese
Very cold inside the temple and no photo or video during ceremony
Breakfast very traditional an experience too
First off, the hotel's location is absolutely fantastic! It's right up there with the Hyatt at Ninen-zaka. Being next to Chion-in Temple, it just sets the stage perfectly. All the main attractions are within walking distance.
However, the hotel is quite old and feels a bit neglected in terms of maintenance. The cleanliness left something to be desired. The windows were dusty, and there was a lot of...
Excellent location, with a unique morning blessing ceremony. The hotel is in superb condition, and the service is great, perfect for an authentic local cultural experience. Most attendees at the morning temple blessing are Japanese. The rooms are spotless and the facilities are all very new.
Convenient location, spacious rooms, and great toiletries. We even got a complimentary breakfast on our last night, which was a pleasant surprise. Thank you!
Be sure to try the hotel's morning ritual, a Buddhist ceremony known as the 'Morning Awakening Ritual'. The entire hotel boasts a distinctly Japanese design. It's said that Wang Sicong chose this type of hotel in Kyoto to unwind.
This is my second stay here. My previous booking was direct through their official website, but I found a better deal on Ctrip this time. A unique feature of this place is the opportunity to attend the temple's morning service and listen to Japanese monks chanting. What's more, it's conveniently located very close to popular attractions, making it incredibly easy to explore on foot.

My boyfriend and I stayed here 4 nights two months ago for our anniversary. We couldn't have dreamt of a better "home" in Kyoto, especially after reading 'In Praise of Shadows'. The suite was to die for: beautiful decoration, comfortable futons, an amazing heating system... What I loved the most, however, was the shared bath tub! And it's worth mentioning how helpful and kind Hazuki-san is, we couldn...
Couldn't have found a better place in the heart of Kyoto. The owner is amazing and very helpful for everything, location is perfect for exploring on foot. Highly recommend this ryokan for your stay in the city.
This was the perfect place to stay for our four nights in Kyoto. It is located in a quiet neighborhood that is close to many dining options and sites, but also close to public transportation if you need to go further.

Had good stay with room very spacious for 2 person (took twin bed room)..everything looks modern. Staff friendly and helpful. It’s 10-15mins walk to Gion District. Near to Sanjo Keihan Station, provides convenient access to Gion-Shijo and Higashiyama area. Easy access to public bus and train. Will stay here again on next visit.
A tina, but very comfortable place to stay. The staff is friendly, and checkout can be done easily vie tablet. It is located about 8min to the metro station. The rooms get cleaned every three days only, but you get enough towels. The rooms have a small fridge and a watercooker aswell.
Really nice place to stay and relax...great service, totally recommend this hotel ...the beds you just want to take home ,so comfy,AC great as is wifii, shower ect.
A very clean hotel, near to city center.
Two problems: although staff are nice, but can’t speak English well, and room cleaning service is every 3 days which is a bit strange!
This is my first time leaving in the hotel have room cleaning service after four days and without changing towels
So bed experience
We have stayed more than 30 hotels in Japan, the service of this hotel is the worst one. We stayed in Japan hotels because of their convenience in helping delivering luggages to airports or other towns. Usually they will help us in filling forms, and all we have to do is to pay. The location, staff, atmosphere, experiences were all exceptional.
We had a sukiyaki dinner in our room one night. It was delicious and unforgettable.
Stayed with my daughter for one night! We liked everything! The room is large, with a separate toilet and a separate bathroom. There is a table in the room and a table with chairs on the equipped balcony. There is a sink on the balcony. The view from the window is of Maruyami Park. + Clean rooms in traditional Japanese style, have everything you need, interesting experience of staying. Good service, friendly staff.

The location is excellent, within walking distance to Gion, Yasaka Shrine, and Kiyomizu-dera Temple. I was staying by car, but since I entered the name of my vehicle when booking, I was able to stay without worrying about parking.
Also, the Keihan Railway station is right in front of the hotel, so although you can hear the station and the sounds of the trains, the unfamiliar sight of the trams was a memorable one.
There are also convenience stores nearby, so it's very convenient.
It's a pity that it's on the 5th floor. If you live on a higher floor, you can see the lake. There are railroad tracks under the window, but it doesn't feel noisy even with the window closed. I like the small cup for boiling water. It's rare to boil water in the hotel. Disadvantages: The toiletries are simple and need to bring your own.
The hotel's check-in and check-out times are better than those of other Japanese hotels. We were able to check in right after 1:00 p.m. The rooms are retro, and it's the first time I've seen a key-turned power supply. It's close to Lake Biwa, but the Omi beef restaurant next door is closed.
A bit far from JR station but big room.
The price is cheap and the quality is good. It is also very convenient for travel. It is very close to the shopping street and the lake!
The hotel is next to Dalu Station. Although it is a bit far from JR, it is only ten minutes away. I like their restaurant on the second floor very much. It has a very Showa feel.
Hygiene: Japanese hotels, you can always trust the hygiene!
Facilities: Small but complete!
Environment: The surrounding is very quiet, not a busy place

While the hotel is a bit older, it's well-maintained. The views from the window are expansive, the price is reasonable, and breakfast is also available.
The room was compact and clean, typical of a standard Japanese hotel in terms of layout and hygiene, though a bit dated. The peeling wallpaper didn't affect our stay. This hotel is far from Kyoto Station but in a quiet neighbourhood. Although accessible, should you want to stay here, factor in travel time - 20mins away from kyoto via JR lines. The building is old. Breakfast is good but i missed mine on the second morning as they closed 10mins early. Good size room - and I have a double bed for single occupancy.

Wonderful stay for 4 of us, wife with teens. Hotel apartment next to temple, quiet area to walk about, yet restaurants within a block. Live the nearby ramen and udon places. The river a couple of blocks away was great for morning run. Waking distance to larger shopping districts across the river. Waking distance to larger sites and temples in our side of river. Great set up for our first visit to Kyoto
Good location and good service
The main advantage of this hotel is the location in the old parts of town, which means that you can walk to several of the attractions. For example, there was a great temple and museum right behind the hotel. Some of the rooms are very small though.
