UNIZO INN Asakusa

An okay hotel if you’re really on a budget. Our room (specifically the bathroom) had a strong smell of pee always regardless of the cleanliness. Every time you shower, the whole room gets incredibly humid. The windows are also not completely transparent which is really a shame because the surrounding area is lovely. The laundry machine did not work when we were there and the staff didn’t know so not only were our clothes unclean, they were sopping wet with no way to dry them in the humid room. The only great points of this hotel is the price, the extreme friendliness of the staff, and the wonderful location.

Conveniently close to subway line, friendly staff that speak enough English to converse with. Bedroom is really clean and Unizo provide free mineral water. Bathroom has a bit of mould in the upper corners. Biggest gripe is One washing machine in the building that takes 2.5 hours always seems to be in use.

Small room, small bed as expected. However, had to ask for our (dirty) bed cover to be changed. Also had to ask for our towels twice within 6 nights after returning at the end of the day - at least reception was ready to rectify house-keeping's blunder as they had towels ready to give us. I only criticize these things because they should not be affected by the price. On the positive side, the staff were generally polite and breakfast was quite good.

Rooms smell like smoke, you have to return the key if you leave the hotel and show them a card with your name to get it back, uncomfortable beds dated rooms and dark hallways.
