Oniyama Hotel, Beppu1 / 30

Beppu, 335-1 Kannawa (5 km from centre) 🧭 Map
Close to Beppu attractions, right near the hotel, very convenient.
The hotel has been renovated, and the outdoor hot spring is quite large, fed directly by natural spring water. However, compared to other hot spring hotels in the same price range, there's no welcome drink or all-you-can-drink option, and only iced water is provided after the hot spring bath.
Very convenient locations to the “hells” attractions.
Wow, it was really bad for the price.. It was over 700,000 won per night.. and during my 2 night stay, I couldn't eat the kaiseki meal because it was full.. When I asked if I had to pay for breakfast since my child was 5 years old, they told me several times that it was the same as an adult. I couldn't believe it, so I asked again, and they said, oh, then I don't have to pay.. Other than the location...
The outdoor bath was spacious and comfortable, and the staff were very friendly. Parking costs 500 yen, but they offered parking upon check-in, which was convenient.
The transportation is quite convenient. You can get there by walking a few dozen meters uphill from the bus stop. The main entrance is being renovated and a simple 🪜 is built. You can carry your luggage up and down! Several major hells are very close. If you want to go to other places, you can go to the tourist information center to take a bus. It takes no more than ten minutes to walk there. There...

This hotel provides all the amenities that required by guest. Bakeries served during break are freshly baked, crisp & hence delicious. Alcoholic guest give a  Thumb up for this hotel as hotel served alcoholic drink as welcome drink.
Great location near Station . Free hot spring really clean and safe. Near by the hotel got station market just a few minutes walk good to buy something fresh interest local food . Breakfast healthy and good quality food.
Nice hotel, clean and comfy, everything is ready for travelers, good location.
Good hotel close to the railroad station.Very friendly and helpful staff.Room was at the smaller side and for 2 people would be hard to move.Pillow was rock hard but they have more pillows at the reception.Bit older hotel but it's no a big issue. Big plus a nice onsen water 42c.Second big plus free liquor sochu and wine in the evening from 6pm to 9pm.There is a brewery next door but in the same building...
It is right next to Beppu station, the onsen is overnight though I have not try but at least they provide, no check out procedures, free breakfast, password instead of room key and free drink is super convenient. The room with Seaview and spacious with a sofa bed is out of expectation. Everything is perfect at this price.
This hotel deserves a great review! It's very affordable, and the location is fantastic – just a 5-minute walk from Beppu Station, making it super convenient to get anywhere. They offer a self-service breakfast and even have a complimentary happy hour in the evening where you can use the restaurant and enjoy drinks. Everything was perfect, except for the small room size.

While the building and rooms are recognisable a bit older it is well kept and clean. The staff is absolutely top notch and the food was very tasty and of good quality. This was the only place in Beppu I could find that had hot springs and let solo travelers book a room for my timeframe. Would come again! Also kudos for the pianist playing ghibli songs in the evening.
Nothing but good things to say about the hotel, it is one of the best stays I´ve had anywhere and a hotel with excellent value. The hotsprings were excellent with ocean and mountain views, and food was above and beyond our expectation. The hotel tatamis were comfortable and the staff were highly professional. I would reccomend this hotel to anyone coming to Buppa. I hope to return again soon!
This Japanese-style hotel offers amazing value for money, especially with its beautiful sea views. I booked the one-night, two-meal plan, and the food was incredibly generous – I even had a lot of beef leftover from dinner the second night, which was a shame! The staff were all very friendly, and the sea view was absolutely stunning.
This hotel is so different with the other resort styles I’ve ever been to. 3 reasons I recommend this hotel: 1. Delicious dining with oversized sashimi and premium beef. 2. Roof top onsen where I experienced starry night and sunrise of this southern Japan area 3. Free music concert every night that is totally above my expectations where my family had a great time gather together and listen to the...
Total unblocked wide amazing open sea view, room not the biggest but adequate. Sparkling clean though I believe it is an older building, so it was much better than we expected. Food not the best but good enough for the price. Only thing not as good as the room and food was the public baths, a bit smallish and the roof top open bath's design does not allow much view while you are in it, but only with...
This was our first trip to Beppu as a group of three adults, and we were looking for a hotel that was both convenient and offered an onsen. Seaside Hotel Mimatsu Ooetei delivered perfectly. The hotel is about a 15 minute walk from Beppu Station. They do provide a shuttle service, but the schedule didn’t suit our timing, so we chose to walk instead. If you’re traveling with large luggage, the shuttle...

This resort is amazing! From the unique architecture to their services are absolutely fantastic. We stayed on the 4th floor which was looking onto the beautiful townscape and coastline of Beppu. With real hotspring introduced to the bathtub in private room, it felt very special. We had some of the most amazing meals in Kyushu there during our 2 night stays. The staff was friendly, helpful, and professional...
Extremely beautiful hotel with stunning views of Beppu. The design is sleek and modern, with unique artworks placed throughout the property. Our room had a private onsen bath overlooking the city—absolutely gorgeous—and the balcony was just as stunning. Breakfast was fantastic as well, and they were able to provide gluten free options. We can’t say enough good things about this hotel and were genuinely...
This is an absolutely gorgeous hotel that offers a truly luxurious and private experience. The rooms are large, spacious, and feature a stunning in-room onsen, which was an absolute highlight. The best part? You get an amazing aerial view of the Beppu coastline right from your room and your private bath. Breakfast was delicious and beautifully executed—while the selection is small, every dish was...
I cannot say enough good things about this hotel. It might be my favourite place I've ever stayed. The building itself is absolutely stunning. We probably spent an hour just walking around taking pictures. Such a cool space and a fantastic view of Beppu and the sea. So relaxing to watch the view change as the sun sets. Great sunrise from the balcony too if you wake up early. Our room was huge and...
Our stay at Galleria Midobaru was one of the highlights of our trip to Beppu. The rooms were spacious and beautifully designed, and the private onsen that opened up to a balcony with an unbelievable view of the city was truly unforgettable. If you’re looking for a luxurious stay with a private onsen in Beppu this is it. Comparable to the ANA Intercontinental but probably half the cost. The location resides on the hillside of Beppu that overlooks the city and the ocean. When we arrived we were met at our vehicle by a staff member who walked us through the check in process. Cheap and cheerful itel brand but lots of care taken to accommodate everyone.
I really like staying here and I often stay here because of the strategic location.
I used this service on a business trip. The price was reasonable and it was very helpful. I will use it again if I have the opportunity.
I was able to get some rest and relax at Hotel Area One Oita! Thank you!
Hotel is good and new.free welcome drinks are available.car parking is available but need extra fee.
The biggest advantage is that it is close to the train station and cheap. The facilities in the room are too old.

There's a convenience store right in front of the hotel, which makes it convenient. The reception staff were very helpful. The Wi-Fi signal is a little weak. I'll definitely use it again when I come here.
There's a 24-hour hot spring nearby, a delicious izakaya, and the rooms are clean and cheap. I recommend it.
If you are looking for a place to stay for the night, affordable , nearby restaurant but only accept cash payment (Yen).

Nice hotel and good service. The hot springs are the best. Will come again’!
The room was very satisfactory. There is a big problem in Japan. When booking a room, it is stated that only one person can stay (even if it is a double room). If you are not careful, you will have to pay extra💰! Be careful⚠️
I have had two experiences with one night and two meals before, and this time I was able to bring my mother to experience it. But this was my worst experience. I had a wagyu set meal for dinner, but the sashimi was not fresh, and was obviously stored for a long time, and was very dry. The highlight is the Wagyu hotpot, the soup base is water with a slice of kelp. The Wagyu beef was so hard to chew...
Everyone goes to Yufuin for ryokans, right? I like Beppu here. The staff is friendly and the food is delicious. Since there weren't many people, I used the open-air bath and the private bath a lot. There weren't many people here, but there were 3...
Booked a night for one night, two meals for one person, less than $1000. Dinner and breakfast were very high quality, booking indicated that I am sensitive to fish, therefore some dishes such as fish sashimi changed to beef sashimi, very sincere.
The facilities are a bit old, the hot spring is not as good as expected, the food is so-so and does not match the price, and the price-performance ratio is average.

I often use this hotel for business trips. It's a beautiful hotel with many restaurants nearby, so I recommend it. The breakfast is also satisfying. They have their own points exchange system, and you can exchange points for instant ramen and snacks.
This was my first time staying here. The parking lot in front of the hotel was full, so I asked a staff member and they kindly directed me to the second parking lot. When I entered my room, I noticed that the wallpaper was peeling in places, and the stand where I placed things and the TV seemed a little small. The shower temperature was inconsistent, sometimes hot and sometimes lukewarm, which was...
The room is spacious, and the bathroom and toilet are separate. For breakfast, you can choose between Japanese and Western food. For the Japanese meal, the side dish box contains grilled fish, tamagoyaki (rolled omelet), kinpira (fried stir-fried vegetables), pickles, and a raw egg. Rice and miso soup are provided separately. You can choose one dish from salad, dessert, natto, etc. For the Western...

It's about a 10-minute walk from Oita Station. There's a convenience store nearby, but you have to cross a traffic light, so it might not be as close as you think. There are plenty of restaurants within a 5-minute walk. Also, I was happy that there's a large public bath on the first floor of the hotel. It seems to be a natural hot spring, but it appears to be heated, and because of that, the water...
The hot springs might be a bit disappointing for those prioritizing cleanliness. I was lucky to have a hot spring in such a convenient location, so it was acceptable for me. There's a convenience store nearby, and the room is perfectly fine if you're just looking for a place to sleep!
It feels like a traditional business hotel. While not spacious, the fact that it has a hot spring bath and is less than 10 minutes from the station, combined with the price, makes it very attractive.
I'll stay here because there is a large public bath, but the rest of the hotel is not worth rating.

I like everything but the food. The food is great quality and the sashimi is thick! But is frozen! Is so icy cold. And the pork steak has a porky smell. The starter is nice though.
I Strongly Recommend Improvement, But the Food Is Wonderful I recently stayed at Beppu Fuuga, and while there were some very disappointing aspects regarding the service and facilities, there were also some great points. Very nice hotel. I've spent three nights here. The room was huge. The breakfast is so good, very high value. They change the main dish every day. A huge variety of food to eat. They close the hotel door at midnight, so the first night, i had to call them to let me in. They are renewing the onsen on the fourth floor, and I couldn't try it

The Wi-Fi was the weakest and hardest to connect to of all the places I've stayed. When I did a speed test, neither the upload nor download speeds even reached 1.0. I hope they can improve this somehow. The good thing is that even though it's located next to the train tracks, the noise wasn't too noticeable.

Good location, near to the train station, near restaurant and convenient store
There is no soundproofing at all, such as the sound of water in the hotel, and the toilet space is too small, making it inconvenient to wash. In a word, naver again I'm sorry!
I stayed for one night on a business trip. In conclusion, it's a little far from Oita station, but in a good way it's normal and good. The room is aging, but within acceptable limits. Well. You can definitely find a better place to go with way less money. Small room and dirty AC and smelly. Private bath is okay but way too small and not clean and meal is okay but could be better. I won’t recommend this place to anybody. Go to a hotel instead.
Awesome service as expected from a Japanese Ryokan. There was a lot of food and it was delicious. The sake was great as well with a fruity flavor. To take a shower you do need to use the familiar public onsen once available but still a great experience
The public bath for day trips is 500 yen. 11:00-16:00 Shampoo and conditioner available. Towels can be borrowed for free. A hair dryer is also provided. Family bath is 2000 yen. The large public bath has an open air outside, but it was a little lukewarm and it would have been nice if it was a little warmer like the indoor bath. This is where it gets a little sad. Stayed one night. The word of mouth said that only 3 out of 5 baths could be used. When I went there, all five family baths were ready to use. Very good onsen hotel with great food and hospitality. We have enjoyed the stay and plan to go back soon.
It's a historic hotel with a hot spring culture. Located on a mountain, it's inaccessible by public transportation; a taxi from the station costs around 100 RMB, but calling a taxi is convenient. The hotel has three private hot springs, marked with round signs outside. You can enter when you see an empty one, but there will be someone inside. Most rooms have private hot springs, and they are very nice...
The food is incredibly tasty, the service is excellent, and the rooms are spotless. There are various private hot springs available for guests. Overall, it’s a great experience.
Having family bathing facilities was a definite highlight. The staff were incredibly friendly and helpful. The room was spotlessly clean and spacious. I was so glad I could enjoy such a pleasant night's stay. I'd love to come back again.
The staff were incredibly friendly and enthusiastic, proactively helping with our luggage. The hotel facilities are excellent, and the private onsens offer a high degree of privacy. Each onsen also has its own unique character and is not crowded. I highly recommend the Yakushi-no-Yu. This was my first time staying here to attend a New Year's party, and the room was thoroughly cleaned and there was very little air conditioning smell. However, the vents under the windows hadn't been cleaned and were full of dust...but on the other hand, it's actually rare to find a place that clean. I was happy that there were a lot of electrical outlets. However, the lobby smelled of cigarettes...
The hot water in the shower didn't come out at night. It was restored at 11:30 PM and was announced over the in-house announcement. I was woken up by the announcement and couldn't sleep after that. The room was clean.
It's basically a business hotel that only accommodates singles. It's located behind the large music hall, iichiko Grand Theatre, so I stayed here when my favourite artist was there for a live performance. It's close to the city centre and the entertainment district (Miyakomachi), so I think it's easily accessible. It appears the owner has changed, and I found my stay more comfortable than last time...

Beppu ryokan with a great value for money. Offers onsen and Japanese style breakfast and dinner.
It felt more like a business ryokan hotel and I don’t mean it in a bad way. The onsens were very very beautiful, and I absolutely loved my stay in Kunisakisou. Great services, great accommodation
The hotel is located halfway up the mountain, so it's more convenient if you're driving. We booked breakfast and dinner, and the food was absolutely amazing; you definitely have to try it if you stay here. My favorite part was the private hot spring in the room. I'd come back again if I get the chance.
The location is pretty good because it’s private. It’s suit for guest comes with the car. About 15 mins drive to downtown. The room was big with private onsen, clean and simple. The facility is only the public onsen, which is indoor with no view. The breakfast is quite basic, the taste could be more outstanding.
I stayed here in 2024 and had a great experience! This time, however, it was a bit disappointing. The facilities are starting to show their age. The food quality is excellent (half-board with dinner and breakfast). The private onsen in the room is definitely a highlight.
Overall a great place to stay; excellent food, beautiful architecture, nice views, private onsen in room.  Some suggestions on what we would have liked: more pillows, thicker towels, some welcome snacks

Good service, delicious food, convenient location
location is not ideal without personal transport, have to arrange private pick up or taxi from train station. Room has private onsen but it's not comfortable or inviting as it's a bath tub... not your typical outdoor- pool like tub , so a little disappointing. food was well presented and tasty. Nothing to offer in the neighbourhood.... so practically, sleep, bath and depart
The hotel location is chosen to be less beautiful on the residential side, the room lighting and layout is darker and old not beautiful enough, one night two meals is very good, if you can bring your own alcoholic beverages is even better, service attitude is good but can still have greater room for improvement,
The hotel offers a shuttle service to Beppu Station, which must be booked two days in advance. Do not follow the directions to Beppu University, otherwise you'll waste an hour traveling just one stop. The hotel is located between Beppu University Station and Beppu Station. Having a private onsen in your room is awesome! But the hotel itself is in dire need of renovation. The floors in the room are scuffed. The wallpaper in the hallway is peeling. And the shower glass is caked with film. This can definitely be cleaned, but alas. Breakfast and dinner are delicious, but very long. Dinner lasts about two hours, with very long breaks between courses.
Unfortunately the room was super moldy and it was ruining the experience. We stayed there for two days. The first day, the dinner was delicious and so was the breakfast but the second day, the food was not as great and the breakfast was served as a Western style, was much less in portion compared to the first day. It was still nice to have Onsen in your room. But it comes with a price.

I spent two nights near Beppu Station and one night at Okamotyoya Ryokan. It is a bit of a distance from Beppu Station. While the facilities are a bit dated, it seems to be well-maintained, and the service is even friendlier compared to the hot spring hotels near Beppu Station (which are also very friendly).
This is the perfect inn where you can fully enjoy Myoban Onsen. It is a bit of a walk to get to the inn and the hot spring facilities, but there is a roof and the atmosphere is nice so it's not a problem. The staff were also polite and pleasant to deal with. The room I stayed in was probably the cheapest one, but I'm really glad I stayed at this inn. The large public bath is open from 7am to...
The hotel took the initiative to take the luggage, communicated in English, and the food was good. The most important thing is that the hot spring ♨️ pool is large and it is convenient for self-driving and taking photos.
There is an open-air bath on the first floor and an indoor bath on the second floor, both of which were spacious and comfortable. The hotel has two private hot springs: a milky sulfur spring and a clear simple spring. The sulfur spring in particular had a pleasant hydrogen sulfide scent and was just the right temperature for relaxation. The sulfur spring apparently has a peeling effect, gently removing...
Pretty good ryokan near Beppu where you can try onsen steamed food for dinner. The onsen is spacious and has a strong egg smell which takes a few weeks to wash out of your clothing. There are relatively few guests in the ryokan (more seem to visit for day use of the onsen). The staff are mainly from the nearby universities and can speak english well.

I think the hotel would get a higher rating if the toilets had at least a bidet. I'd even be willing to pay a bit more for that. It's close to the station and offers great value for money.
Nicely located hotel with free Onsen. The rooms are fairly old and mine was once a smoker friendly room, which explains the slight smell of cigarettes and the yellowish walls. It is great that the hotel is located directly in front of the main station, but be aware of outside noise. I still slept like a stone so for the price I can recommend it.
The staff were super helpful. I had lost my watch the day before and they called around the places that I had visited the day before to ask them for me. It's a little bit of an older hotel but if you're travelling solo and cheap I don't think you can complain about this price.
Good emplacement near the station, hotel OK relatively clean. Good point is the free parking. And you can enjoy a good breakfast and great onsen with the hotel just on the other side of the street
The location is very convenient, with a bus stop right across the street, and breakfast is included.
