Hotel Taihei in Matsuyama

This is the worst hotel I have stayed in Japan.
It has a depressing atmosphere and this is not the worst part.
The carpet in the room & common areas are all so smelly and dusty it triggered my allergy. I have to leave the window opened because the smell is so unbearable, but traffic noise means I was barely able to sleep.
I don’t think it is hygienic to stay in this hotel, even though the price is reasonable.
It ruined my 2 days in Matsuyama.

I honestly can't describe this hotel; its only redeeming quality is its location. The rooms are old and run-down, and there aren't even toiletries in the shop. You have to go next door to eat.

And finally, couldn't they at least make the Wi-Fi decent? The speed is awful.

Is it true that once you leave APA Louteinn for a business trip, there are no decent hotels left...?

I stayed there in early November. It was a room-only stay, priced average or slightly above average for a business hotel.

The location is about a 14-minute walk from Matsuyama Castle and about a 22-minute walk from the downtown area.

Here are my impressions:

While it's fine that room cleaning isn't done for consecutive stays, the temperature control on the bathroom faucet was still covered in mold... I think it could probably be removed with a light scrub with a sponge, and it could be prevented by keeping it dry even once a week.

Also, when I tried to turn on the heating because it was cold, only the air conditioning came on. When I called the front desk, they said the heating wouldn't be switched on until November 5th.

The fact that you can't switch between heating and cooling from the room is inconvenient, and even if I overlook that,

Normally, you change your clothes for the season in early October, so having the air conditioning on in November felt incredibly lax.

Wouldn't a normal hotel switch over much sooner...?
I think the problem stems from the management's slow response, but their apology felt half-hearted and insincere, which left me feeling quite displeased...
I felt their foresight, initiative, and management skills were extremely poor.
If you're planning to stay here, I think you should consider all of the above before making a decision.
To be frank, personally, I wouldn't want to stay here again with my own money if it were in this condition.
