My family and I stayed for six wonderful nights at Meliá Whale Lagoon Maldives, and our experience was truly amazing.

The surroundings are absolutely stunning, and the hotel was in perfect condition. The rooms were spotless, very comfortable, and the facilities were excellent. Also, food was absolutely amazing!

What really made our stay special was the outstanding staff. Everyone was incredibly kind, attentive, and professional. A special thank you to Muny, whose warmth and dedication made a big difference. We would also like to thank Abdulla, Maisoon, Nahil, Deepak, Ristya, Suresh, Ismail, Rameez, Rejin, Shiwani, and Zayan for their excellent service and hospitality.

We leave with unforgettable memories and would highly recommend this resort. We truly hope to return very soon!

Paradise on Earth!!
An absolutley fantastic stay at the Melia Whale Lagoon Resort. Everything from Airport transfers to food to entertainment and excursions were 10/10. Would 100% recommend.

We stayed in the overwater villa and it was simply perfection. Clean, beautiful, fantastic amenities. Can't find a single fault!

Very big thank you to Aman, Akbota, Zayan, Fatho, Nancy, and all the team across the resort, including the excellent dive centre staff (Thomas, Marty, Jay and others) and the Spa (Artita the masseuse who gave us incredible Balinese massages). The whole team went above and beyond for the Husband's birthday surprises - creating beautiful memories for us for a lifetime.

Brilliant team, brilliant resort, brilliant experience - thank you all!

Our second time in the Maldives was different from the first, but absolutely fantastic. We arrived by seaplane, and the welcome was very pleasant and friendly. The resort is beautifully landscaped, the individual villas are very spacious, and there's plenty of space between them to ensure privacy. The food is beautifully presented, with lots of variety and always delicious. We were there at the end of March 2026 and felt like we had the whole island to ourselves. It felt like less than 20% of the beach villas were occupied. While the sand and beach are cleaned daily, unfortunately, a fair amount of trash accumulates over time. The two pools look great, but they're much too warm. An egg cooker would be more fitting than a pool. All in all, our time at the Melia Whale Lagoon was wonderful, and we would wholeheartedly recommend it. Finally: pictures speak louder than words 😍

An absolutely unforgettable stay at Meliá Whale Lagoon. Everything was seamless from airport arrival to seaplane transfer, and we received a warm welcome from Nancy on arrival. The water villa was stunning—crystal-clear waters, white sand, and incredible views every day. The staff truly made the experience: special thanks to Aman, Akbota, Zayan, Fatho, Nancy, and all the team across the resort, including the excellent dive centre staff (Thomas, Marty, Jay and others). A big thank you to Lisa, the General Manager, for the thoughtful birthday card and the amazing surprises arranged during our stay—from the room decorations to the spa and private beach dinner. A perfect experience from start to finish—highly recommended.

We just got back from eight amazing days at the resort, and honestly, we had a fantastic time. The trip started strong the moment we stepped off the seaplane — the welcome was warm and a bit unexpected, so that was our first real “wow” moment. Our villa with the private pool was beautiful and super comfortable. The only thing we missed was a small welcome detail, like a card or some fruit in the room. We had seen those touches in the hotel’s Instagram videos, so staying in one of the top villas and not getting them felt a bit surprising. They did leave a welcome message written in the sand at the door, which was cute. The food was excellent throughout the stay. The buffet had plenty of variety and everything tasted fresh, and the à la carte dinners on the beach were honestly magical — eating under a sky full of stars was unforgettable. If I had to point out something, I’d say the premium drinks package felt a bit limited. It only covered the cocktails from the menu, so classics like a daiquiri, a Martini or even a Baileys weren’t included, which we didn’t expect from a premium option. The excursions were great too — we saw whales, turtles and manta rays, and everything was well organised. The only thing is that once you get to the spot, there are lots of other boats doing the same, but I guess that’s just how it is everywhere. What really made the trip special was the staff. Every single person we met was kind, attentive and genuinely focused on making sure we were having a good time. I also had a lovely chat with the General Manager, Lisa — she’s truly exceptional and left a great impression on us. Overall, we absolutely recommend the Melia resort and really hope to come back one day.

Good things: 1. Mini bar provide free drinks and snacks although some snacks are not very tasty but it could be personal preferences. 2. Opening the glass door do not turn off air-con. 3. Close to the beach and there is beautiful coral reef. 4. Buggies service are good, arrive in 10 to 15 mins. Things may need some improvements: 1. Food in the Thai restaurant can be improved. 2. Hot water could be regularly flushed to avoid accumulation of rusty water (we saw yellow water coming out from hot water which also happened in another island resort, could be a common issue) 3. Maybe good to have rinsing water in all entrances of the house, right now there is no rinsing water from the beach side. Although there is a shower it's usually not enough, it would be better to provide moveable shower head to rinse your feet/shoes. Pls try it your self of getting your feets wet and then go back and you will know.

The hotel is brand new, built in 2023. Recently changed hands. The new owner is Melia, Spain's largest hotel chain.

Everything is done with care and attention to detail. Everything is well thought out and very comfortable. Expensive materials, high-end fixtures. Clean and tidy.
The staff is very friendly and smiling. They are always ready to help. All the inevitable minor problems in life are resolved almost instantly. WELL DONE!
The food. In my opinion, one of the best hotels I've ever stayed in. The only problem is not overeating. Everything is VERY delicious! The alcohol is high quality, the beer is incredible. Everything is fresh. No stomach problems.
Unfortunately, there's only one channel in Russian, and that's a bad one.
The internet is fast. Everything works, which is very pleasing.
Ruble cards from RSHB UnionPay work. We used them for payments.

Practical tips:
1. Coral slippers are a must! You can buy them at the hotel.
2. Don't skimp on sunscreen (SPF 50+). The sun is harsh. Use moisturizers. They are available in your room.
3. When snorkeling, avoid touching anything. Protect your elbows and knees. Wear wetsuits (long-sleeved shirts) with UV protection.
4. Don't pack too much. Shorts, swimming trunks, swimsuits, pareos, sunglasses, hats, and flip-flops are all recommended.
5. You don't need to bring shampoo, conditioner, or soap. Good quality ones are available at the hotel.
6. Electrical outlets are UK-size. Built-in USB ports are low-power.
7. When planning your visit, consider the tide chart for the Maldives. Choose a time when the tides are at their peak during the day.

Summary: The hotel is magnificent.
Have a great stay!

We recently stayed at Melia Whale Lagoon in Maldives. The combination of white sandy beaches and lush tropical greenery created a beautiful scenery. The villas are nicely positioned around the lagoon, and the overall atmosphere of the island was very picturesque.  The food was generally okay — not exceptional, but decent with enough options to enjoy during the stay. The staff were friendly, welcoming, and always willing to help, which made the experience more pleasant. The diving was also very good, and the diving guides and staff were professional, helpful, and made the experience enjoyable and well organized. However, there was one major issue that affected the stay. Next to my daughter’s villa there were guests (possibly from Russia) who behaved quite inconsiderately. They were playing loud disco music that could even be heard from my villa, which was two villas away. They met with friends and continued talking very loudly, which made it difficult to enjoy the peaceful atmosphere that people usually come to the Maldives for. We spoke with the reception about the situation, and they kindly offered to move us to different villas. However, we had booked three villas for our family, and we did not feel that we should be the ones who had to move when we were respecting the resort rules and the privacy of others. As a result, for the next few days we had to continue staying next to our badly behaved neighbors. I have been visiting the Maldives for over 20 years and have never experienced something like this before. One of the main reasons people choose the Maldives is for privacy, tranquility, and respect between guests. Unfortunately, during this stay it felt like there was very little privacy because you could hear your neighbors so easily. Overall, the island itself is beautiful and the staff are kind, and the diving experience and guides were excellent.
