Horrible experience

Had to wait for two hours for food

When the food arrived it was PATHETIC

I ordered for BEEF STEAK, what I got was pieces of chopped meat

For Prawns-65 I got tiny prawns in RED SAUCE.

Just one waiter handling the bar & also the RESTAURANT

This was a very good hotel till the new F&B manager took over.

The room was smelling , when you see outside you will see all the air conditioning system in horrible state and the air conditioning system in the room never works. Looks like used bed sheets were used.the bathroom was okay but I must also say that used or not new towels were used.

On the plus side: the staff are excellent and helpful, from front desk to restaurant. Lovely view from the top floor restaurant, especially at sunset. The rooms are fine and spacious, and air conditioned. On the negatrive sides: no fridge, which I thought in a tropical environment was a pity. My room was also very noisy with street traffic sounds, despite being on the 8th floor, which disrupted sleep.

I stayed here for work for 4 days, and have to say it was a big mistake.

The biggest problem was the cockroaches in the shower room. Since checking in, I had to kill 5-6 small ones everyday. I found a few in the bed area too… It was fortunate that the big ones didn’t show up, but the small ones mean there’re big ones and it made me feel really sick.
The other issue was the sewage smell. It was just bad the whole time.
Other facilities are minimum and dated, and the fridge smelt bad with mold. The WIFI was nonexistent.

The receptionists (young gentleman and 2 ladies) in the daytime were nice and helpful, unlike the older guy at the night shift. He was constantly unpleasant and unhappy.
One time I had blackout in my room in the middle of night so called the reception. He said he would come up to fix, but nothing happened. After 30minutes I called again and to my surprise he said he had already fixed it. No it wasn’t. So I waited again and he finally fixed it but was sullen the whole time.
Also, this guy (and a housekeeper) refused to provide 2 bath towels and 2 bottles of water per day to a single-staying guest, even though my booking was for a room for 2 persons (meaning I paid for 2). I have never stayed in a 3-star hotel that strictly forbids guests to use more than 1 bath towel (FYI no face towel nor hand towel). To be fair, other receptionists were nicer and handed me extra towel.

Also, I never stayed in a hotel where a housekeeper constantly ignored “Do not disturb” sign, starting to knock the door at 8:30 to ask if he can clean my room. What is the sign for?

I won’t return and wouldn’t recommend to anyone. I feel sorry for this to the younger receptionists but can’t help.

Overall, our stay was pleasant. The staff were very friendly & cooperative. The WiFi connection was a little sketchy at times. I like to use 2 pillows. The rooms only have 1 for each person, the the extras were provided when requested. I would recommend the Palms as a suitable urban hotel.

Very bad service, Arrogant staff, looks like they are doing us the favour.
1. Ac not working
2. Wifi not connecting

4. Electrical socket was broken
5. Lifts are very slow
6. Breakfast is yuk

The location is good, but the cleanliness is poor.. The facilities are also very old.
I think it is a place where you can stay for one night at a good price...

Worst experience ever in Mauritius . The non smoking rooms are inexistent . As soon as you walk in you are blown by the smoke smell in the room and for a non smoker it is impossible to get to sleep.. It is very clear that the amoke derectors are absolete and not working .The day reception services and staffs are outrageous..and unprofessional..they make you understand that you are disturbing them , when playing their games on phone . The bathroom was smelling sewerage with coacroches coming up .. on my last day there was a company spraying the entire environment to eradicate rodants.This hotel and its staff reflects the attitude of it's General Manager who refused to meet with me as to the issue of smoke detector not working , and this is a danger to all clients safety and security. Being from a hotel group .. I was badly surprised with so little or no services at all. Shame .
