Reviews
• Pool: The pool reeked of urine. I left immediately and didn’t swim for the rest of the stay. Ton of kids were in the pool.
Construction: Constant construction noise every day. Rooms are old around the edges and not soundproof, and you hear every sneeze and fart and cry. When the staff knocked at the door of the room next door 5 times in one evening I constantly thought they were knocking at my door. It was pretty annoying.
• Noise: Fitness sessions by the pool blasted loud katy perry at maximum volume.
• Drinks & Bar: The drinks were laughable, none of the bartenders seemed capable of making a proper cocktail.
• Check-in: Slow, confused, and almost accusatory when I mentioned booking through Booking.com.
• Customer Service: Reached out twice via WhatsApp before arrival and received no reply.
• Staff Conduct: A staff member peeked through my window while I was in my underwear despite me shouting “please no,” then laughed. Completely unacceptable.
• General Staff Attitude: Many staff appeared bored, disengaged, and staring in the distance. A lot of staff, yet poor service. You have to seek them out. Only at the evening buffet some decent staff/service.
• Food: Breakfast and buffet were okay if you don’t consider any drinks, but Coconut Café was terrible, both food and drinks.
A very underwhelming experience. I would not go back. I changed to Dinarobin and I should have gone there in the first place.
The staff were very welcoming and friendly, and our room was beautifully decorated. The food was delicious, and the service was excellent throughout our stay. We truly had a wonderful experience.
A special thank you to Mr. Romeo Clency, Chef Mungroo, Pradeep, Kissan, Lobin, Bahorun and the entire team for making our stay such a memorable one.
We spent two wonderful weeks at La Pirogue and would like to express our heartfelt gratitude to all the staff. From the very first day, we felt warmly welcomed and genuinely cared for – the service was truly first class in every way.
Everyone we met was friendly, cheerful, and helpful, always with a smile and a sincere sense of kindness. The hotel radiates warmth, peace, and harmony, creating the perfect atmosphere for relaxation.
We would especially like to mention Ravi, who worked in the restaurant. He is an outstanding person – always attentive, caring, and full of heart. Thanks to him, we felt extra well looked after. He made sure everything was perfect, refilled our glasses, reserved our table each evening, and added those little touches that make such a difference.
We also deeply appreciated that the hotel is very well adapted for guests with reduced mobility. It was easy to move around with a wheelchair or a walker, and everything felt safe, comfortable, and well thought out.
La Pirogue is a beautiful, calm, and peaceful hotel where you instantly feel at home. We have absolutely nothing to complain about – only wonderful memories to cherish.
If we ever return to Mauritius, we will definitely choose La Pirogue again.
Thank you for two fantastic weeks filled with warmth, care, and joy.
Warm regards,
Birgitta and Bo-Anders with family
But! There's construction going on nearby, and the pool area is nearby. Our room was right next to the construction, making it uncomfortable and very noisy. The room itself is made of stone and overlooks the palm trees, but the rooms are positioned so that if you open the curtains, everyone can see you. The walkways are so close to the rooms that there's no privacy. The beach is long and beautiful, lined with palm trees, clean, and there are plenty of sun loungers.
It's a great concept that they provide water bottles and there are drinking water pumps on the premises. These bottles are beautiful and a complimentary gift from the hotel; you can take them with you upon check-out.
Breakfast: homemade pastries, fruit, and the chef makes omelets.
The à la carte restaurant is delicious.
The buffet (buffet) costs 60 euros per person for dinner or lunch.
Plenty of free parking.
Small things that could be improved:
1) audibility between rooms (adjacent rooms in the same bungalow)
2) the juice that you buy in the restaurant and bar as freshly squeezed, in fact, either from a bag/bottle, or heavily diluted (pineapple, orange)
3) SPA: improve the service - receive on time and without fuss, and announce the price before the massage. My daughter and I were received 25 minutes later than the time we signed up for, although we arrived early. Because of this, we were then late for the pre-booked change room and for departure, and instead of a relaxed atmosphere, we had to run everywhere.
Plus, they did not provide robes and lockers for changing clothes. It felt like they received more visitors than they could serve at the same time.
The massage itself is done well.
Cozy bungalows, high-quality cleaning.
We took HB meals, the food was excellent!!!
We will recommend and will come back ourselves!
Thank you la Pirogue Mauritius!
