A hidden gem. Small but close to beach. Nice ambiance. Stunning view from bedroom balcony.
Went for a birthday weekend and staff were very kind. Daniel from the kitchen organized a lovely table and cake. Spa was by the beach and nice treatment. Akilesh from boat house was very helpful.
Food was lovely and Daniel even brought breakfast to our room.
Downside- little additional touch that can make the resort superb are all with supplement.
A table behind the bar by the beach comes at a supplement.
Restaurant menu can be limited if you have dietary restrictions.
Checkout is only 11 am whereas other hotels it’s 12 and if they have availability a late checkout comes with supplements
Limited car park and have to park at sister hotel across the road.
More toiletries should be provided.
Overall I enjoyed it but with a little extra it can be a superb hotel.

We arrived to a reception that was dark and uninviting. We had requested a ground floor room but was given a room on the top floor. The receptionist said we would be moved the following morning to a ground floor room. Next morning a new receptionist stated it would be 2 more days before we would be moved. There is a basic beach bar, a open plan restaurant and a small pool area. Service was sparodic as staffing was generally thin on the ground. The Beach is narrow and when using the sunloungers people are constantly walking through the seating area. On the first day we ventured down to the beach, the sunloungers which has seen better days. At six pm I was rudely shouted at by security to get off the sunloungers as the area was now closed. Management later apologised for this and said the employee had been reprimanded. Food choice is basis to say the least, often two starters (one being soup) 3 main course and two desserts. The room we were allocated was dirty, poorly serviced and the patio and bathroom doors were difficult to open and closed. Dirt marks and dust were everywhere. We decided after two days of a seven night stay to check out as we could not stay at this hotel a moment longer. We had paid for the tourist tax in advance and asked for a refund for the nights we had not stayed, needless to say after two months no refund has been forthcoming from Kushboo Trivedi, Rooms Division Manager, nor the General Manager Rajesh BUTON. This hotel does not warrant 5 stars (3 at best). We have stayed in many other 5* hotels on the island which are superb.

We called in for lunch and were welcomed warmly as non residents. Food and service were excellent so good in fact that we booked a dinner for four on the beach for Independence Day. This was on the beach with superb food and service in an idyllic setting. I would look to stay here on my return to Mauritius.

We would like to sincerely thank Kenny and Axel for their exceptionally warm welcome and attentive service throughout our dinner date. Their professionalism and friendliness made us feel comfortable from the moment we arrived. A special appreciation goes to Chef Permal for the wonderful cooking. We had the langouste au beurre d’ail, which was absolutely excellent ,perfectly prepared, flavorful, and beautifully presented. No words will adequately describe the wonderful experience we had at Le Cardinal. The location is wonderful, the food exceptional, the amenities exquisite but the staff made it the holiday of a lifetime. Thank you to Kenny, Daniel, Rawa, Sujan, Axel, I’m sorry drawing a blank but you know who you are. The chefs designed food to honor the most discriminating guests. Thank you, for the most wonderful experience. For making us laugh everyday and gaining a few pounds…umm!!! I’m so excited for the future guests, enjoy every minute and moment. It is perfect!

Renting sunbeds I do not recommend. Sharp stones on the beach and very upleasant staff, charging every day different price for sunbeds. Very unpleasant lady at the reception.

We came to have lunch in this hotel same as 2 days ago and to rent sunbeds since we are not guests from this hotel. 2 days ago they asked 1000mrs, that is 20euro. We took and we stayed in their beach that day. Today, lady was laughing to my face at the reception and asking 3000ms = 60euro for two sunbeds. Asian lady. When I asked how is that possible that price changed 3 times in 2 days, she just smiled in my face, very ugly, and the answer was: “Well, price changed”. Food in the restaurant was not nice, very small portions, with the smell of old oil. Mocktail is also terrible. Complete impression is dissespect of guest. And I do not recomend. Guards are alowing kids to scream to other people heads and beds. Complete desaster for holiday. Beach is full of stones and it is impossible to walk or swim without being injured. I cut my foot. Choose better beach, not this one. Wish you all the best!

My second time at le Cardinal exclusive! And i must say this is my all favourite hotel ! The hotel, room and pool is so clean! And the food were amazing!!!! The staff were so friendly and welcoming (specially the man at the bar. )10/10 , i would definitely come back! (For the views obviously!)

Very good location. Very cool and peaceful atmosphere not crowded. Excellent food and friendly staff. Free water sports activities. The General Manager Mr Buton greets his guests and is very professsional. Enjoyed our stay; nice swimming pool . Shiva very proactive. Mr Thaikoor in the restaurant looks perfectly well in providing the services explaining the menus etc. We had a very nice time at this serene hotel🙏

An excellant bespoke beach front hotel. Perfect for a relaxing beach holiday. Lovely rooms, which have amazing sea views. The staff are so welcoming and professional. My wife has certain food alleges, which were expertly catered for. The quality of the food was faultless through out our stay. Its also a great base for exploring the island, and has plenty of parking. Top Tip take sea socks as coral can be sharp in areas of the beaches.

Only had one night in Mauritius so wanted to go for dinner somewhere special. Previous reviews pointed to Le Pescatore but poor connectivity prevented looking at the menu online. When we got there decided to go for the MRs 2,600 set menu which was far more than we are used to spending. However it was well worth it. The food was excellent, with plenty of extra little courses and perfect service. Would definately go back (if we were staying longer)

Great food, best we've had on the island. Very friendly and attentive staff. Nice view at the ocean, it raised a romantic feeling. Its pretty expensive, but I guess the food and the atmosphere is worth it. We came for dinner and it was an allmost perfect experience. What bothered me though was the amount of insects at the table. This probably can't be helped with a restaurant right at the seaside. Still though having insects in your drink and crawling all over your table lamp was irritating to say at least.

Would still recommend a visit if you can afford it, even a detour if you've got the time.
