We emailed while we were there with the person in charge of our reservation asking why nothing in our reservation referred to the Amex benefits. We got her OOO… so it turns out that the worst breakfast (terrible buffet where everything was picked through) was $50 US per person (not the usual free breakfast for two per Amex). We also didn’t get our usual Amex dining credit. When we asked if they could extend those benefits as a courtesy because we tried to contact them to ask about the benefits with no response and are booking a big block for our wedding, their answer was basically “no.”
Then, we emailed asking if certain guests traveling from Europe that had 14 hour trips due to connecting flights could check in early. We said we totally get they can’t guarantee it but since we had a whole block of rooms, presumably one or more may be ready early. They said they recommended the guests book an extra night… so I guess our guests will pay for a night that they aren’t even staying at the hotel.
Lastly, the hotel looks nice enough due to recent renovations but the suites are pretty small- the suites are more like large hotel rooms. They have an extra couch but no separate living room/bedroom delineation which is frustrating when traveling with a one year old.
All in all, the hotel is clean and looks nice so if you are in town for work and the hotel falls into your corporate policy pricing, it could be worth staying here. If you are looking for a true 5 star experience, you should look at any of the other luxury hotels in CDMX.
