Bungalows San Felipe in Oaxaca

One of the quietest and most relaxing places to stay in Oaxaca. I'm a digital nomad so an entire bungalow is more than enough for me. They can also be good for a couple or a family. Great option if you don't want or have to be in the city center. This is a laid back, relaxed, upscale neighborhood where you can interact with locals. Even though you're almost in the mountains, it's only a 10 minute car ride or 15 minute bus ride to the center. The route #1 bus takes you straight there and is only a 5 minute walk away. So if you don't have a car, no worries. The neighborhood is super safe, and there are enough restaurants, stores and cafes in the area when you're not in the center. If you want to do a genuine cultural immersion with local Mexicans, this is a great spot. The people are warm, welcoming and friendly. If you don't have exact change for a mom and pop shop, they will tell you to bring them the few pesos tomorrow. Most of the traffic on the street will be from the morning tamale vendor on his bike, the afternoon bakery van driving by, or the fried banana vendor at night whistling his way through the neighborhood. There's a small, local market next to the church with produce and food on Tuesdays, Fridays and Saturdays. There are a couple places to get street tacos at night and a great coffee truck in the church plaza at night. Really good value if you like peace and quiet and don't have to be in the center.

A great option in Oaxaca if you're looking for something reasonably priced, with a good location and decent quality, especially during holidays when prices skyrocket, for example, during Guelaguetza or Day of the Dead.

They require a $1,100 deposit for the gate access control.

I recommend this place if you have a car, as it's only 10-15 minutes from the city center.

I remember that place among my best life experiences, with friendly service from its owners and excellent food in the restaurant.

I visited them; they are spacious two-bedroom apartments, very cool and pleasant, in the San Felipe del Agua area, away from the center of Oaxaca.
