Hotel Oaxaca Dorado in Oaxaca

This is definitely not a 4 star hotel. It would be a stretch to call it a 3 star.
Let me count the ways I would not recommend this hotel.
1. The front desk person was not overly friendly.
2. The beds are excessively hard. I've stayed in over 30 hotels (from 2 star to 5 start hotels) in the past 4 years. And this bed was one of the hardest.
3. The bathroom was too small.
4. You have to pay extra if you want a room with air conditioning. Otherwise you get a portable fan that is too loud to let you sleep.
5. You can hear the neighbors talking through the walls.
6. The cement hallway walls echo the sound of people talking on the hallway.
7. I woke up with over 30 mosquito bites. (and the patio door was never open).
8. The TV would only work intermittently.

Worth mentioning is the restaurant inside the hotel is just mediocre.

After checking in at this hotel, we drove around and saw other hotels in the area that appeared much nicer, at around the same price point. Including one right across the street.

With that being said, I will mention a few good things.
1. Good and free Wi-Fi.
24 Mbps down and 9 Mbps up.
2. There was plenty of hot water for showering.
3. Nice pool.
4. The interior of the hotel has a nice sunny and tall public seating area.
5. Free parking in the hotel garage. But with a very narrow entry. I would not recommend trying to drive an SUV or full-sized truck into it.
