Hotel was op zich prima, beetje gedateerd.

We slept in a bad room: small, very basic and bed was situated at window at the flat roof full of kitchen ventilators and airco’s. Had to climb in and out of bed, because lack of space. Next morning we have got a better room after complaining,

My room was fine bed very comfortable only problem was the shower room.

We booked the hotel as a base for cycling tours in the beautiful surroundings. We were very pleased with the hotel room, which had a lovely furnished balcony and a new bathroom. The breakfast was varied and good. There is also a nice indoorpool.

The cleaning was not so good. The previous customer's towel was still on the heater. Dust was visible on the table. The espresso machine was clogged because it hadn't been cleaned, so coffee wasn't coming out. None of the 6 coffee machines came out. Quiet location, easy access from motorways, friendly staff

Hotel Papendal is a no frills contemporary yet comfortable basic stay hotel used for the Dutch Olympics team. Amazing value, but you get what you expect. Food in the bar wasn't great, but plenty of places nearby to visit instead. Would recommend for a stay when visiting the Airborne Museum ‘Hartenstein’ in Oosterbeek.

It was an okay experience. I’ve stayed here before mostly due to the convenient location of being next to the train station, however I feel the hotel needs an update. Light switches were not working properly in the room and it left a tired feel to the property. The management team should consider updating the facilities to reflect most Mercure hotels

Gorgeous main building that houses the restaurant, which served a great breakfast buffet. The rooms are in separate buildings (yes, plural). The room was tidy and clean with quite a large bathroom.

The staff was friendly, and it was a tranquil spot with plenty to do, such as biking and walking. The room was clean but needed updating. The restaurant was the only letdown. The food ordered in the evening took a long time to turn up. When it finally did, mine was warm, and my wife's was cold—it was supposed to be hot. It's suitable for vacation, in the forest, the air is very good. Unfortunately, I'm here on a business trip. The facilities are not new, but they are clean and tidy. But if you don't drive yourself, the transportation is a bit inconvenient. When I left, I asked the front desk to help me call a car.

We only stayed there one night as it was very convenient for our purpose. The lady at reception was very friendly and te room was spacious, light and clean, with comfortable beds and a good shower.

The room is generally clean and the equipment is relatively old. I personally prefer hotels with bathtubs and balconies, so I always book a room on the first floor. The room space is just right. The hotel has bicycles for rent and the outdoor environment is very good. Therefore, Apeldoorn is an alternative hotel when I come to Apeldoorn many times. .

The room is quite spacious and clean. We enjoyed the swimming pool. The hotel is surrounded by forest. We like the green landscape, unfortunately we didn't have enough time to explore the area because of rain. The breakfast offers a lot of variety. We had 3 course dinner at the restaurant and the food was quite tasty.

The hotel was lovely, conveniently located next to the food hall and the city centre. There was a parking garage and the rooms were spacious and spotless.

The location is excellent, with several restaurants and cafes nearby and a Spar next door, close to the center. The hotel is clean and quiet, with free coffee or tea. Everything was perfect. I'll definitely be back.

Free parking in a garage attached to the hotel is very nice and convenient. Rooms are spacious and modern. Nice views and the breakfast was excellent! Easy transport with a bus stop near by or the train station. Walking or biking is also easy to do. Highly recommended.

Very nice hotel, corner room offers great views of the city. Shower works great! Bar and restaurant staff are slow and do not offer to refill drinks or acknowledge customers but this was the only minus for the property.

Front desk staff was courteous and professional. The corner room on the ninth floor had a great view. Open bathroom is a little strange and toilet is extremely small. Compared to other van der Valk properties this one ranks much lower than others. Very slow internet, little choice of TV stations, no streaming services etc.

I've been only to the spa and even if the facilities are beautiful and very well maintained, I found it expensive for the few services they offer included in the price. It's mainly one big indoor and outdoor swimming pool with several big jacuzzi's. There's just one small sauna and hamam for that amount of visitors. That was not nice. No option to sit since everything was full, no chairs available...

Fantastic hotel and spa… the thermal space was very relaxing… beautiful indoor/ outdoor bathing pools in a nature setting. There are a variety of pools including 37 degrees, and a 34 degree salt water float pool… both amazing experiences and quite unusual. There was also a salt scrub shower space and 1 sauna/ 1 steam room. The thermal area requires swim suits and robes. Robes and flip flops were included...

Limited transport to the hotel

It’s a great hotel, very spacious rooms, nice interior design in the main entrance and areas, the whole vibe is luxurious and modern. The beds are comfortable, the personnel is friendly and professional, the food is really good. Then the area around is so beautiful, definitely go to park de Hoge Veluwe and take a bike, or go for a hike. Stunning!

I feel I overpaid for the room based on the following: Room was not clean. Sheets had dirt on them and the walls in washroom area were greasy. Shower was missing glass and it made a mess while showering. No breakfast was included even at this room price. The breakfast buffet was amazing! 10/10

Super dated room. Bathroom looked like it hadn't been renovated since the 70s. The room smelled of sweaty feet and wouldn't air out. Popcorn ceiling and walls with no decorations made it look slightly more cheery than a jail cell. On top of all that, the walls were paper thin and you could hear everything your neighbors were doing and when they were walking on the floor above. Would never stay here...

An excellent hotel that is worth its 4*. Located in the wooded area with heathland near Epe. Wonderfully quiet with always lots of birds around the hotel. We stayed here for the first time and had booked a four-day package including breakfast and dinner. As far as we are concerned, the hotel is a big 10 in all facets. We will definitely go here more often. What is also very nice is that you can take wonderful walks through the beautiful nature from the hotel.

This is a unique place. You get what amounts to a kitchen-free studio apartment in 200- or 300-year-old building that’ll managed by a hotel-like front desk, rather by some remote AirBnB office. You live roughly the way a Dutch person in a historic build does, which means weird (but modern, clean) bathrooms, lots of steep stairs, etc. If you have trouble with stairs, you need to talk to the hotel...

Friendly staff in a dated hotel. Rooms were a good size but in need of refurb with wallpaper peeling from walls. Beds were too soft and in the end provided a poor night's sleep for the two nights we were there. Had been to this hotel once before, but it had since changed names, so mistakenly booked it again. Draft beer in bar awful. Will make a concerted effort not to book it again!

Almost to easy to find it. The staff were lovely. The room services were ok. House keeping used to come around a bit to early for me. The hotel was always kept clean and tidy which was nice. The swimming pool was nice and it had a sauna. It's next to town I would say a 4 minute walk maybe 5.

Rooms are cheap. Fairly large rooms for the price. But they are very old and outdated. Too dark with just a couple of lamps. Breakfast is good. Excellent checkin and check-out procedure. Very close to the centre and hotel is very quiet.

Super nice hip hotel close to Arnhem Velperpoort. The rooms are crazy cool, and the quality of furniture and amenities is really good compared to many other hotels I've been to. Great pool, spacious room. I have stayed here before and always had a great time. I had the luxury of having the indoor pool to myself - Awesome!! Good breakfast but would have liked a warm veg option such as beans or mushrooms. The room was big and spacious with a comfortable bed. The only area for improvement was the peeling paint outside on the balcony. Some TLC needed there.

I tried to alter my booking dates through Expedia's website, was informed by their Bot that it'd all been taken care of. Didn't receive the promised confirmation email so called the hotel to check and it hadn't happened at all. The outside environment is beautiful, the room is clean and tidy, the room size is not very large, but the basic equipment is complete. The hotel is located in the forest, self-driving is more convenient, and it is suitable for vacation travel.

We had the most magical time here! The property and the surrounding park is incredibly beautiful. The restaurant was delicious, we loved every meal we ate there. The staff were wonderfully kind too. The room was a great size and the bed was really comfortable. We have nothing negative to say, we loved everything!
