Having stayed in the Netherlands many times over the years, it’s easy to say this was by far my favourite stay - wonderful hotel, perfect location in Arnhem and great food and service - Highly recommended

Quiet location, easy access from motorways, friendly staff

Hotel Papendal is a no frills contemporary yet comfortable basic stay hotel used for the Dutch Olympics team. Amazing value, but you get what you expect. Food in the bar wasn't great, but plenty of places nearby to visit instead. Would recommend for a stay when visiting the Airborne Museum ‘Hartenstein’ in Oosterbeek.

Free parking in a garage attached to the hotel is very nice and convenient. Rooms are spacious and modern. Nice views and the breakfast was excellent! Easy transport with a bus stop near by or the train station. Walking or biking is also easy to do. Highly recommended.

Very nice hotel, corner room offers great views of the city. Shower works great! Bar and restaurant staff are slow and do not offer to refill drinks or acknowledge customers but this was the only minus for the property.

Front desk staff was courteous and professional. The corner room on the ninth floor had a great view. Open bathroom is a little strange and toilet is extremely small. Compared to other van der Valk properties this one ranks much lower than others. Very slow internet, little choice of TV stations, no streaming services etc.

This hotel is quite modern and has an excellent price / quality ratio. Located close to.the railway station and a highway it is very functional and quite at the same time. Breakfast is good. It was an okay experience. I’ve stayed here before mostly due to the convenient location of being next to the train station, however I feel the hotel needs an update. Light switches were not working properly in the room and it left a tired feel to the property. The management team should consider updating the facilities to reflect most Mercure hotels

Limited transport to the hotel

It’s a great hotel, very spacious rooms, nice interior design in the main entrance and areas, the whole vibe is luxurious and modern. The beds are comfortable, the personnel is friendly and professional, the food is really good. Then the area around is so beautiful, definitely go to park de Hoge Veluwe and take a bike, or go for a hike. Stunning!

I feel I overpaid for the room based on the following: Room was not clean. Sheets had dirt on them and the walls in washroom area were greasy. Shower was missing glass and it made a mess while showering. No breakfast was included even at this room price. The breakfast buffet was amazing! 10/10

It is a good hotel with friendly staff. Location is not in city center but not very far away

Super dated room. Bathroom looked like it hadn't been renovated since the 70s. The room smelled of sweaty feet and wouldn't air out. Popcorn ceiling and walls with no decorations made it look slightly more cheery than a jail cell. On top of all that, the walls were paper thin and you could hear everything your neighbors were doing and when they were walking on the floor above. Would never stay here...

Stopped here for one night as part of a cycling holiday. Incredible location in the middle of the forest with many great walking and cycling trails in the area. We were lucky enough to be there during the heather bloom so on the day of our departure we woke up early and were able to walk a km or two from the hotel to a huge meadow full of heather which stretched on nearly to the horizon. The heating in our room wasn't working properly, and the toilet seat was very loose. When we reported this, they took appropriate action. This was perfectly fine. Great pool, spacious room. I have stayed here before and always had a great time. I had the luxury of having the indoor pool to myself - Awesome!! Good breakfast but would have liked a warm veg option such as beans or mushrooms. The room was big and spacious with a comfortable bed. The only area for improvement was the peeling paint outside on the balcony. Some TLC needed there.

I tried to alter my booking dates through Expedia's website, was informed by their Bot that it'd all been taken care of. Didn't receive the promised confirmation email so called the hotel to check and it hadn't happened at all. The outside environment is beautiful, the room is clean and tidy, the room size is not very large, but the basic equipment is complete. The hotel is located in the forest, self-driving is more convenient, and it is suitable for vacation travel.

The hotel is very well located at the end of the trendy shopping street where there are also many restaurants, close to Grote Markt, Waal quay, Kronenburger park. Our room was apparently being renovated because there was a penetrating paint smell and paint traces on the bathroom floor that had not yet been removed. Had to connect TV and reinstall. Great spa resort. We enjoyed the massage and beauty treatments. Especially liked the thermal bath and ninety private restaurant. On the whole a great option for a weekend luxury trip.

It's suitable for vacation, in the forest, the air is very good. Unfortunately, I'm here on a business trip. The facilities are not new, but they are clean and tidy. But if you don't drive yourself, the transportation is a bit inconvenient. When I left, I asked the front desk to help me call a car.

We only stayed there one night as it was very convenient for our purpose. The lady at reception was very friendly and te room was spacious, light and clean, with comfortable beds and a good shower.

The room is generally clean and the equipment is relatively old. I personally prefer hotels with bathtubs and balconies, so I always book a room on the first floor. The room space is just right. The hotel has bicycles for rent and the outdoor environment is very good. Therefore, Apeldoorn is an alternative hotel when I come to Apeldoorn many times. .

The rooms were quite large. Parking in a secure underground lot was easy and convenient. The breakfast provided was fine but nothing special. The common areas could be cleaner. We had no TV in the room for 2 of the 3 days we were there. The shower drained poorly and caused the wash room to flood; after it was serviced it was fine.

Good value It’s an okay stay the rooms are nice and clean my only issue is our bathroom was very small and not super ergonomic. It’s a good cost effective stay. Check out the breakfast before you commit if you are from North America, it’s a very European breakfast so it may not be up to your liking.

We stayed only one night - one Comfort room and one Luxury room at the coach house - but it was lovely. We had a 3-course set dinner (it might be a bit of a push for children) paired with wine in two of the courses. It was lovely. We had the most magical time here! The property and the surrounding park is incredibly beautiful. The restaurant was delicious, we loved every meal we ate there. The staff were wonderfully kind too. The room was a great size and the bed was really comfortable. We have nothing negative to say, we loved everything!

The location is beautiful. Super that you can just walk into the woods with several well marked routes. Ample spacious free self parking. The building is very nice. The rooms are rustic and have character. The miss parts are details that lessen the feeling of luxury and bring the value for money ratio out of sync.

Small room, sink with open concept. Toilet bowl and shower separated. Individual that needs to do their business in the toilet and uses water to clean themselves rather than a tissue will have a hard time. Everything else was just dark, even the light doesnt really brighten up the room. Using google map, it lead me to another building rather than the hotel itself. And having to do our own check in...

This was our second visit to Blue Nijmegen. Once again we were impressed by the staff, meals, cleanliness and comfort. The bed was so comfy that it was difficult to get going in the morning. The only minor downside is that the rooms are a bit snug, especially with the TV at the foot of the bed. We will be back!

Almost to easy to find it. The staff were lovely. The room services were ok. House keeping used to come around a bit to early for me. The hotel was always kept clean and tidy which was nice. The swimming pool was nice and it had a sauna. It's next to town I would say a 4 minute walk maybe 5.

I found the building charming and our room very spacious and comfortable. Having breakfast included made it exceptionally well priced compared to other properties in the city. The housekeeping staff in particular does a wonderful job.

Rooms are cheap. Fairly large rooms for the price. But they are very old and outdated. Too dark with just a couple of lamps. Breakfast is good. Excellent checkin and check-out procedure. Very close to the centre and hotel is very quiet.

We crossed from Harwich to Hoek v Holland which on a day crossing is very good value for money, we had a cabin so we had somewhere to relax. From the port to the campsite it took under 2 hours. Great campsite surrounded by fantastic woodlands. Tons of wild life around. Staff super helpful, loads of fantastic entertainment for the kids from playgrounds & mini golf to a swimming pool to musicals and other fun activities for them (and us) to join. Stayed here as a kid with my parents, wonderful to be back as an adult. The chalets were clean and provided all the amenities you'd need. Great memories...

The bangalow was clean, but the bedrooms are very small. Also you need to make sure to even bring your own bedsheets and even toilet paper as they are not provided when you get there which is really a pity because one might be very tired after a long journey and will not think about taking a toilet roll

I had a great solo stay here while I was exploring the area that was encompassed by Operation Market Garden in 1944. My room was comfortable and quiet even though it fronted on a main road. The staff could not have been nicer or more helpful. The in-room breakfast was huge and varied with many breads, proteins and fresh fruit. The private parking was secure and necessary! This is one of these delightful hotels in Holland, whereby you feel continuously pampered by the super friendly staff. Where you can eat really delicious food with a large choice and variety. This is an excellent hotel located in a beautiful part of Holland. From here you can ride for kilometers through the forests and visit nearby towns. The quality of the food in the restaurant is superb. Service is also excellent.

I felt so sorry for the owners though: roadworks outside the hotel meant the place was quiet. You need to be firm with the people manning the road barriers- they want to divert you 9 miles around the roadworks to the other side of town but the hotel is in the centre of the roadworks...

Very friendly staff in all aspects. Breakfast buffet is very good. Rooms are adequate, beds are fine. The hotel is very nicely located. Overall, the hotel itself looks a bit tired and really could do with an uplift. Carpeting, stairs, lift etc. all look a bit weary.

The place was clean enough and is situated on a beautiful property, the surroundings was stunning and it has a pool! However the place can use a major facelift! The building itself is patched up (quick and dirty) you could see the patch ups. The rooms are okay, but absolutely outdated. Our sheets even had holes in them. The ceiling had one part we could see it moving at night, and there was no air...

Hotel needs upgrading. The safe in the room didn't work. Construction going on all around the hotel and it is very difficult to drive to. There is no easy access to the building from the underground parking. Staff were generally helpful.

Very nice place to escape to for a weekend. The in room dining during covid lockdown was superb.

Great base from which to see Nijmegen Charming and very comfortable hotel with friendly helpful staff. Centrally located and convenient to sites. However, our room was located up 2 flights of steep narrow stairs. If you are in anyway impaired make sure and ask for an accessible room!

The student trainees did a great job, better than most commercial hotel chains, which would be lucky to have them. You’ll enjoy the extra-spacious rooms no matter who you are. The surroundings are bucolic and peaceful.

Very clean rooms & bathroom, which is a nice exception in comparison to all Fletcher hotels in the neighborhood, nice area around the hotel, very kind personel including students in the restaurant during the breakfast.

This is a design hotel. If you like design: Bingo. If you like function: Sorry (!). Your partner is showering: sorry, bath is under water - can't go to the loo! Basin in the sleeping room - o.k., your partner has an early business meeting, you are awakened by bathroom noise (razor etc.). Here: function follows design, not the other way. Sorry. In summary: fancy design, clean, but a lot of improvement...

The hotel location and hotel itself was great. The only thing is our room did not look like any of the pictures we for the the room that had creepy pictures on the wall and life size blow up monster looking things so it was a little creepy. But other than that the hotel is fine

This lodging is located quite far from the center of Arnhem. However, there are four shops nearby that are essential for accomplishing your trip to the Netherlands, two of which are foreigner-friendly and well-reviewed, so it's quite accessible. I stayed in a room with a large bathroom and separate shower and bath, but the room was quite small, so it felt a bit unbalanced. The parking lot is outside...
