Lamaro Hotel in Barcelona

The Lamaro Hotel, also know as Hotel Colón, is highly overrated. It is definitely not a true 5-star hotel, neither for the quality of the rooms nor for the service provided by the staff. The cleaning service was also disappointing: our cups were still sticky yet put back as if they had been washed. The room was quite old and doors were ruined by shower water. After paying €500 per night per room for 8 nights, we were not even granted a one-hour late check-out. The staff rudely replied that if everyone asked, they would have no rooms available for incoming guests. This, despite the fact that we had requested it at check-in, reminded them again the night before, and that check-in is only allowed from 4:00 PM. We had simply asked to leave the room at 12:00 noon—four hours in which the room could easily have been prepared.
In general, the staff was very unfriendly and often followed us all the way to the elevator just to check if we were really hotel guests. Breakfast was very mediocre. At the rooftop restaurant, we were asked to pay immediately after ordering, without even being given the option to charge the bill to our room.
For this price point, there are far better genuine 5-star options in Barcelona. A real shame, because the location—right in front of the cathedral—had such strong potential.
