Just finished a 7 night stay at Alua Tenerife with my dad and can't fault anything. You read some of the other reviews and of course everything comes down to someone else's perception and experiences so here is ours. Arrived about 8pm, check in was busy but they served us as soon as they could and it was a quick and pleasant experience. What wasn't pleasant was the group of German guests who couldn't queue properly and wait their turn. Suggestion for the hotel - put ropes up to clearly show the queuing system. Breakfast is a large buffet selection, of course you will always get the same items, but the point is there is a large selection of each item such as Cereal, fresh cut and whole fruit, different milks, cheeses, hot food. Actually the hotel buffet had different potato dishes each morning. After 7 days I still didn't try everything on the buffet in the morning. Plenty of coffee machines and juice machines. Suggestion for the hotel - display the menu on arrival so people can see the variety of dishes available. We shared a twin room, it wasn't split when we arrived, by the next morning it was. Room was beautifully cleaned, towels replaced as needed, items topped up. We loved having the mini fridge in the room Thank you to housekeeping. We were in room 1409, it was warm throughout the day and a good spot to sit on later in the afternoon when the pool area got a bit cooler, we still had sun until about 5ish. We upgraded to half board to include our dinner, excellent value for money especially when adding the drink package. Again, with any buffet you will always get some items the same (breads, cheese, paella, pizza) but there was variety! Every night different pizza toppings, different paella flavour, different meats on the grill (I had chicken, beef, turkey, tuna, hake...). Hot buffet had a great selection, different vegetables, meat dishes and every night we were there a different theme. Suggestion for the chefs, maybe slightly less garlic - but that's just personal preference, it didn't stop us eating !! Suggestion for the hotel - it would be good to have tea, coffee and juice available for dinner. It was either fizzy soft drinks, alcohol or water, but apple juice or similar would have been appreciated. Overall we had an excellent experience, staff were friendly, happy and kind. We didn't engage with the entertainment team although they went about their work with smiles on their faces. Hotel was in a great relocation, take a leisurely stroll into town, certainly gets the steps in and you have a lovely view as you go. If we return to PDLC, Alua would be our first choice.

Dismal, this isn't a hotel its a nursing home for German and French pensioners, do not take your children here as there is absolutely nothing here for them, very poor food even for a Spanish hotel, we payed for an all inclusive holiday which we haven't had, coffee is only available with breakfast, all over meals is wine and fizzy pop, value for money has been the worst ive experienced in 30 years

Could be better. Went with family, got family room. Not cosy, wet, without sun, without heating, with mouse on the walls. Food was normal, but breakfast all the same 7 days. Wouldn’t give 4 stars, only 3.

Avoid at all costs. Room extremely noisy - during the day & evening. From neighbouring rooms and from loud offensive music from the pool / bar. Obnoxious French animation team. So rude. Won’t interact with your child if they are English. They are around the pool all day, bombard the restaurant & the bar. You can’t escape them. They really ruined the stay. 30 euro to hire an iron. Same for 3 pool towels, Only able to change pool towels twice per week. The bar doesn’t open until 11 am. So if you are down for an early breakfast it’s a long wait to be able to get a refreshment. Hotel not child friendly at all - not allowed ball or floaties in the pool.

I am currently staying at Alua Tenerife... was expecting some xmas spirit, a little bit of happiness with the staff.... unfortunately not to be, I dont understand if you want a big glass to put some wine in ( rather than 3 sherry glass fulls) and to put some soda in too, they just wont do it? .. ya know to save loads of trips to the bar and also the washing of glasses (Tenerife is supposed to be saving the climate too, maybe Hyatt hasn't got the msg yet, as it claims to do?)).. also another very strange thing earlier.. (we are here as a family of 8 people).. so i had a bottle of water from the supermarket upon returning from a long walk and asked for 3 cups of ice... simple request? NO, I WAS ONLY ALLOWED 2 CUPS OF ICE, even tho I was standing with 3 full paying adults on all inclusive (and you are apparently allowed 2 drinks each at a time)... the bar staff was unbelievably awkward... and told me that it was very 'special', just to request 3 plastic cups of ice., obviously there was a beer and a fanta lemon too.(which had loads of ice)... seriously the bar staff, need to either relax a little or what im thinking is that they just want to go home for Xmas as soon as they can...I am currently speaking with the receptionist people, but getting nowhere... all I wanted was a big glass for my wife's wine.. such a simple request, that will now spoil our holiday...
