Lunuganga Estate in Bentota

Amazing place. Already missing that place.

Ena 5 is one of Colombo's most famous residences in the 20th century, designed by Master Bawa. This famous villa was demolished to build a parking lot. The Bawa Foundation managed to obtain the original building, marked the order of each brick and floor slab, and spent six years to rebuild it exactly as it was. The living room and dining room are connected to the courtyard. The living room is decorated with batik woven ceiling that she made for Cinnamon Beach Hotel Bentota. The master bedroom is on the second floor. We were lucky enough to book the only room left that day, Ena's bedroom. To eat, you have to walk to the terrace restaurant in the main house of the manor, which is about three to five hundred meters. You can also ask the hotel waiter to provide a tuk-tuk. Although the introduction of the manor asked to collect tips and put them in a tip box, I still gave tips ranging from 100 to 500 rupees for each trip, which is about 2.5 to 12.5 yuan.

The old manor has an amazing design. The manor is well maintained. Although the facilities are old, they are very useful. It has an ancient style. Every place has a different view. It is a paradise for people.

The experience with Lunuganga Estate exceeded my expectations and I am very satisfied! When I first made the reservation, I was attracted by Bava's design. After all, it is a decades-old building, and some of the rooms were converted from other spaces, so I had some concerns about its comfort as a hotel. However, after moving in, I found that these worries were completely unnecessary.

An iconic attraction in southern Sri Lanka, Lunuganga Estate is not only the former residence of the famous architect Geoffrey Bawa, but also a private garden that combines unique architecture and natural beauty. I chose the glass house mainly for personal residence. I hope the room is of moderate size and not too spacious. However, after touring the other rooms in the estate, I was pleasantly surprised to find that the Glass House I had chosen was one of the most desirable residences in the entire estate.

The design of the glass house cleverly utilizes natural light to create a bright and airy sense of space. The walls of the room are almost entirely made of glass, which not only perfectly connects the indoor and outdoor landscapes, but also makes people feel as if they are in close contact with nature. In the morning, when the first ray of sunlight gently shines into the room, it feels like waking up in the embrace of nature. Although the room is mainly made of glass, there were no problems with excessive temperature or poor sound insulation as expected. On the contrary, the environment here is unusually quiet, providing me with an ideal place to rest. The design of the Glass House is simple yet stylish, focusing on both practicality and comfort, perfectly reflecting Bawa's design concept - the building coexists harmoniously with the surrounding environment to create a peaceful and harmonious atmosphere. I was worried that natural light would affect my sleep, but I experienced an extremely comfortable night in the glass house. The bed was extremely comfortable and I had a great night's sleep. When I left, I deeply regretted not being able to stay here a few days longer.
