Whispering Palms Hotel in Bentota

Very bad experience , had a very bad stay ! First off , when we first step into the hotel no one was there to usher us , the whole hotel was lack of staff , we waited at the reception for 30 min till we finally met someone so we could get our key . Next , the room was so dirty , floor was sticky , toilet was clogged , air con was faulty and lastly there’s stain all over the curtain and there’s a big hole in it too ! Let’s please not talk about the dinner . Usually set dinner came with salad , soup , main and dessert . They told us salad , soup and dessert are unavailable and for the mains there is only spaghetti left , after a call to our travel agency complaining about our dinner , they made soup for us .therefore , this means that the soup are actually available is just that they are not willing to cook . We added three fried eggs to go with our spaghetti (self-paid) and turns out the hotel told our travel agency that it is a complimentary food for us since we did not have our salad and desserts. They charged us 1800 rupees . Bad hotel management , dirty , lack of manpower , lack of variety of foods and bad attitude from the staffs .

Very disappointed with this hotel. A gorgeous setting on the beach, large spacious room with a decent balcony equiped with lounger chairs and coffee table overlooking the Indian ocean and large swimming pool. It could be paradise. Unfortunately, the place is not cleaned properly, our bathroom and shower were thick with limescale and dirt in the corners of the shower. The fridge in the room did not work, the curtains were stained, we stayed for 5 nights and our room was not serviced once! The restaurant service was really poor, staff had little knowledge of hospitality, we managed to get our inclusive breakfast, but then ate every other meal. I could go on and on, two main points we found very disturbing, green algae growing on the walls of the swimming pool and open electrical fittings showing cables and connectors, I don't know if they were live, I kept my fingers well away. Once they had our money they dissappear. To sum up, a 1 star hotel masquerading as a 3 star. Not recommended

It is a very beautiful place right at the beach. But unfortunately, the cleanliness of the hotel is not up to our satisfaction. We booked about 10 rooms as we went with a group of our close families. Some of the rooms were a bit dusty and smelled bad. The food variety was pathetic and we could see the same dish at lunch and dinner too. I wish we could have gone with room only at this place as there are several restaurants in the surrounding area. Just don't keep high hopes on the food at this place.
However, I must say that the hotel staff is very friendly. Im posting this comment for the hotel owners to see and improve the quality.
