Nuwara Eliya Golf Club in Nuwara Eliya

Lovely setting for a golf course. Some very tight fairways, you have to be straight off the tee. Caddie is a must. The clubhouse is like stepping back 100 years in time, lovely colonial building. Very quiet on course, some repairs from the cyclone taking place. Greens need some attention, a lot of worm casts. Thoroughly reccomend if you like to play different golf courses.

Not a good experience.We booked the night here as it seemed such a lovely old traditional building and a step back in time,it certainly was but not for any good reasons. We were warned at check in that it took 5 minutes to get the hot water through to the bathroom, we never had hot water so cold showers only. It's cold at night here, bedding was insufficient and no heating in the room. Dinner was not what we ordered and then we were overcharged as the menu was incorrectly priced and they refused to honour it. Couldn't wait to check out.

Been coming to this place since I was a kid. Food has stayed amazing throughout. But the golf experience is far from what I expected. All I wanted was the drive some balls. My cadie let me hit about 20 balls with the iron which he said was the warmup. But when he came back and I said I wanted to use the driver he complained it’s too far and basically took all the clubs to the putt putt area. Afterwards, when the session ended he asked for a tip and I said no and went to sit with my family. Then I left for the bathroom, and when I came back. He apparently walked up to my elderly parents and basically forced them to tip an insane amount!!!! I am beyond embarrassed. I came on this trip to relive the days my parents brought me when I was younger and now I have a very sour taste now for this club. Been a member here since forever but now I’m not so sure.

The golf club itself is a beautiful place, and the facilities are fantastic. Me and my friend went for a drink there today, since local hotels asked us to review this place.(its not accessible for locals who are not member) We loved it, very nice and quiet loungebar. The bad thing is, that the bartender (named ramesh) tried to rip us of, charging double quantities from the drinks we ordered. He also refused to give us a menu card, just so he could hide his scam. When we told him the price was outrageous, he came with silly excuse. But eventually we got our fair price. Its a sad thing, such a beautiful place can get spoiled by unprofessional staff members...

We didnt stay here to sleep, just to play ten holes. The prices they charged didnt correspond with the website. Thats okay, because Sri Lanka is affordable as it is right? Well... No. We were obligated to buy certain shirts with collars, which is acceptable, because you have to look sharp on a golf course! The caddies didnt need to wear them though, so that was a red flag maybe. Than we had to pay large sums of money (more than you ll spend in the Netherlands for a higher quality golf course). But, everything was included they said. The terrain looked quite shabby. It was muddy, which is okay due to the weather conditions, but the terrain was dirty and littered. Not a good sight to behold. The worst thing was that the caddies were basically begging for money, which started at the fourth hole already. They expected a $20 tip for two hours of caddy'ing. We gave them $10 each and were offended and instantly rude. This was very inapropriate and not like the Sri Lanka we know. All in all it costed us over $100 per person for a very mediocre experience, shabby terrain and plain rude caddies. After leaving i had a bad taste in my mouth. You are better off golfing in your home country as it will be cheaper and more enjoyable.
