Description

The hotel is in an amazing location of Nuwara Eliya, the place which is often called "Little England" or "Switzerland of the East". Here you can see the emerald valley tea plantations and beautiful waterfalls falling from the mountain tops into the valleys. The hotel itself is located in a mansion built over 200 years ago and which was the residence of the Governor of Sri Lanka Sir Edward Barnes in the first half of the nineteenth century. The hotel is a true monument of the colonial rule of great Britain.

It's beautiful and prim. I doubt I'd stay there—it's not for everyone. I don't want to have to stand on tiptoe while on vacation.

Great place, beautiful inside. I was there on Christmas Eve and New Year's Eve – the decor is beautiful, all the staff are in white suits… a fairy tale.

A hotel nestled in a historic landmark. The ambiance, cleanliness, and facilities were all highly satisfactory. The service, however, I'd give a four-star rating. For instance, during afternoon tea, one staff member was surprisingly unfamiliar with the offerings and had to consult a colleague. Furthermore, after checking into my room and placing the 'Do Not Disturb' sign on the door, a staff member *still* opened it directly with a key. After I complained, they explained they had mistakenly entered the wrong room. Despite these service hiccups, the overall experience was excellent, and I still highly recommend it!

The service was outstanding; all the staff were incredibly warm and welcoming. Once they knew we were Chinese, they'd often greet us with 'Ni hao, Xie Xie'. One front desk manager was particularly friendly, always stopping for a chat whenever we crossed paths. The staff seemed genuinely proud of the hotel and were happy to share details about its history and facilities.

The only reason I didn't give it a full 5-star rating is that the view from our room's window faced the entrance rather than the beautiful garden, which was a minor disappointment.

The hotel's overall ambiance and accommodation were very good. Given its historic nature, there was only one power outlet in the room, so I'd advise bringing a power strip. On the bright side, the room's soundproofing was excellent. The hotel garden is absolutely stunning and super photogenic. The afternoon tea was delicious and comes highly recommended.

The hotel boasts an excellent location, with Victoria Park and the Pink Post Office just a short walk away, perfect for leisurely strolls. However, since Nuwara Eliya is a hilly region, the drive to the hotel involves winding mountain roads that can be quite bumpy.

This is really healing. It is one of my favorite hotels during my trip to Sri Lanka. The service is great. Because I checked in during the Spring Festival, the hotel staff said "Happy New Year" from check-in to breakfast the next day. There is also a "Happy New Year" light box at the front desk of the hotel. I feel very friendly in a foreign country. The breakfast is very rich. The Thai food downstairs of the hotel is great. I am not used to the local food. I ate Thai food downstairs of the hotel. I was moved. The room is clean. Although it is old, it has a texture and has a fireplace. This is very important because the altitude here is high and it is still cold at night. I have a cold. I feel much more comfortable after turning on the fireplace for a while. The hotel can rent bicycles. I also rode around the lake. The overall experience is perfect!

The historical buildings are distinctive, the public spaces are diverse and rich, the gardens are carefully maintained and exquisite, and you can check in for the Queen's English afternoon tea... The Thai and Indian food in the hotel are pretty good

The room was very nice. It had an old-school British feel. There were enough facilities nearby. There were many restaurants to eat at. The Thai food was pretty good. The breakfast was pretty good too. But the dinner was just average.

The environment is great! Very British hotel. Many politicians and celebrities from all over the world stay here. The swimming pool is very good! The Thai restaurant is very good! The service attitude is good! There are beautiful gardens and huge trees around!
