I stayed at Araliya Hotels last night with my family, and this was our first visit to one of their properties. Prior to our arrival, our expectations were quite high, especially given the reputation and discussions surrounding the ownership of the property in Sri Lanka these days.
I would first like to appreciate the receptionist who kindly offered us our room around 12:30 pm as the hotel was not very busy at the time. That gesture was much appreciated.
However, within the first couple of hours we noticed several areas that could be improved. The corridors were quite dark with very low lighting. If the intention is to conserve energy, installing motion sensors might be a more effective solution. The staircases also had similar lighting conditions which made them feel somewhat uninviting.
The room itself was spacious, which we appreciated, though it appeared slightly overcrowded with furniture, making the space feel less open than it could be.
The dinner buffet unfortunately did not fully meet our expectations, and the restaurant service could have been more attentive to guests.
In the morning, the reception area was not particularly busy, yet there was little engagement or greeting offered to guests. Additionally, a gentleman seated nearby in a suit appeared to be occupied with his mobile phone while I passed through the lobby several times.
On a positive note, the breakfast buffet offered a good variety of options and was enjoyable.
Overall, we had a reasonably pleasant stay. However, based on this experience, we have decided that we may not choose Araliya Hotels for future visits.
As a former hotelier and someone with experience in the hospitality industry, I may naturally observe such operational details more closely. Nevertheless, if Sri Lanka aims to position itself among the world’s leading hospitality destinations, continued focus on staff training and service standards will be essential.

Yogesh is an excellent staff. He is very warm and friendly. He impressed us by delivering our baggage to and from the car with extra careful. He also assisted the driver on loading and unloading of the luggage.

Had a fantastic stay at Araliya Green City. The hotel is modern, well-maintained, and perfectly located close to the main attractions of Nuwara Eliya while still offering a peaceful and relaxing environment.
The rooms are spacious, spotlessly clean, and very comfortable, with great views and all the amenities needed for a pleasant stay. The staff were extremely courteous, professional, and always eager to help, which made the experience even better.
Food at the hotel was excellent, with a wide variety of options and great quality at every meal. The overall ambiance is elegant and calm, making it ideal for families, couples, and even business travelers. Highly recommended for anyone visiting Nuwara Eliya — I would definitely choose this hotel again!

We stayed at the hotel for two days with our family. The food was excellent, especially the Sri Lankan cuisine, which was a real highlight of our stay. The variety and taste were truly enjoyable. The staff were also friendly and supportive, which we appreciated.
However, there were several concerns that affected the overall experience. The rooms were not clean, and the bathroom walls had visible black slime, which was quite unpleasant. Additionally, the water temperature was not warm enough compared to other hotels in the area. The carpets in the corridors also had visible fungus patches.
The pool area was not well managed. Pool attendent was not available. While guests were changing or washing before using the pool, wedding guests were walking through the bathroom area, which felt uncomfortable and lacked privacy.
Overall, while the food and staff were great, improvements are needed in cleanliness, maintenance, water facilities, and guest privacy to meet expected hotel standards.

We stayed only one night with Veena World, Mumbai group. Room was very spacious with weird furnishing. In double occupancy room there was one six seater dining table. Bed was queen size. In huge room for two people what was the use of six seater dining table ? Instead bed should have been atleast king size. However the food was excellent. Specially vegetarian food was superb. Spread for breakfast and dinner, both meals was very good. Our room had back side view. Hotel was very close to market place. Overall experience was good. Recommended.

The room is large and spacious, but ours felt like it hadn't been used for a while: the TV wouldn't turn on, there was a rather annoying noise from the electrical panel that had to be fixed a couple of times, and still the problem wasn't resolved. The room was cold, and even turning on the heater, it didn't warm up.
The staff were very attentive and helpful, and the breakfast was quite good, too.

Very good, facilities and hygiene are good. I changed hotels every day in Sri Lanka, and I felt that the price and quality were matched. This hotel is next to the Grand Hotel. Considering that I had to leave for Galle early the next morning, I chose this one with a lower price. There is a gas station outside the window of my room. There is a gasoline smell when the window is open. I will give you a reference. Maybe you can tell the front desk when you check in.

There is a smell of toilet when you enter the room. The room is old. The carpet is dirty. There are red spots on the body. The breakfast is useless.
