The location of Rocky Point is very nice, definite 4-5 stars. Unfortunately the atmosphere was careless and not very welcoming. This might be due to the circumstance that (as rumors are) there is the energy of an ongoing lawsuit between an American and the locals about the ownership situation hovering over the place.
The cooking gets only one star. There are enough places around where you can eat much better for the same price.
The rooms are nice and comfortable, although not the best in the area for a comparable price. Room cleaning service was not existing.
The stars are for the location and the rooms, nothing else.

Terrible! The location is the only thing they have, and they're taking advantage of it! The property is dilapidated to the point of indecency. They have spacious hotel rooms with absolutely no furniture! Not a closet to store clothes... just a bed... and blackout curtains, mounted on office staples that come off as soon as you touch them! Not to mention the bungalows or the apartment... disastrous! Dirty, with holes in the mosquito nets, damp stains on the ceiling, a disgusting, rusty bathtub... and a kitchen with no facilities (not even a refrigerator!!). We ran away after one night... (and three moves... to find bearable accommodation... but nothing!) The owner promised us a refund but, instead, did everything she could to keep the money (for a 14-night reservation... not exactly peanuts). Thank goodness we booked with Airbnb... which, with no small amount of effort, finally recognized our rights.

Hilltop rooms with v short walk down to beach frontage, gorgeous big clean pool, new rooms with bar fridge. We had seafood (huge prawn & veg skewers & baked fish) every night - best seafood dinners we had in Sri Lanka & well worth the wait as everything is made from scratch. Like in many places, dogs hanging around on seats etc.

We stayed 4 nights in Rocky Point Bungalowslast week of January.We enjoyed it much. Bungalows and the other rooms ( they have 6 new rooms) are located on the hill side of beach-end. ( Goyambokka Becah is 150 far from the hotel) But also it has direct acsess to a small private beach too .Rooms are Clean enough.There is hot water 7/24 .in hotel' s restaurant there are several.options inc pizza and sea food ( just you need to order one hour earlier ) attention !!! thisi is a basic rule for each restaurant in Sri Lanka .On the otherhand guests are allowed to use the kitchen if you want to coook yourself It has a family business hotel that has very green garden . there is a pool with beach view . We enjoyed our stay much.Thank a lot

I was there when it was managed by someone outside SL, a westerner and the standards were amazing and the place was quaint but clean and efficiently running. Now it is in the hands of local management who may or may not understand western expectations. Before it was a yoga retreat and had great food and atmosphere...I think i went there twice. the places around it were also interesting and lovely and there is a 5 star experience Amanwella next door if you need a fix. I miss the yoga and don't know what happened but I wont go back again and I am sad about this.
