Excellent accommodation. The staff give 100% and the food is fabulous. We felt very well looked after. The Sri Lankan breakfast was the best we had during our time in the country. Staff gave great advice and support with travel. A friendly atmosphere and feeling of community. We’re already planning our next stay.

An absolute gem located in a quiet Sri Lankan village on a surf break!
I loved my stay at Lion’s Rest. The staff went out of their way to make me feel at home and looked after. With genuine warmth and family friendly. What a lovely find after the noisy streets of Ahangama and Midigama!
A special shout out to the surf coach Lucky, a local legend and one of the best surf coaches I have ever had. So professional and such beautiful energy. Thank you to everyone on team Lions Rest!💕

Our original plan was to stay 5 nights in Lion’s rest but the amazing atmosphere, nice pool and restaurant, and the most kind and helpful staff made us to reschedule our trip to stay for two more nights. Hotel is 10 minutes away from Weligama beach/town, located on relax Coconut beach, away from the hustle of the city. We felt really safe and well welcomed in this small community. Lion’s rest also has a great surf teacher, Lucky, who in 5 lessons took us from complete beginners to surf green waves in reef. He’s also very kind person and fun company. I would really recommend his lessons even if you are not staying in Lion’s Rest. Greetings from now already Finland!

We had an AMAZING expérience at Lion’s rest! We were with our 2,5 yo daughter who had the best time! All staff were so kind to her, we will never Forget! There are cows everywhere in front of the hotel, no noises, on the beach the best sunset in the world and incredible cocktails at the bar!

Ayesh, Sunil and all the staff made our stay so easy and special, organising transfers and even a fresh whole baked fish dinner and cake for my birthday. The hotel is just outside Weligama, close to lots of great local restaurants, and only a short walk across a cow paddock to a beautiful beach where you can see turtles. We loved watching the sunsets every night. The pool was a big hit with the kids, and the room stayed nice and cool thanks to the great air conditioning.

Loved the lions rest. Great staff, lovely chill vibe and food is great too. Lucky was great with our 6year old on his surf lesson. Management was supper helpful. Only comments is the Tuktuk drivers out side the hotel got a bit aggressive with our Taxi driver when he came pick us up l, not hotels fault but was a strange situation.

We stayed 15 days at Lions Rest over Christmas/New Year 2025/2026, we had a fantastic stay. The Location in Gerubebila is so beautiful, in front of world class surf breaks; Coconuts and Plantation. The Hotels rooms are clean, beautiful and family friendly. With both resturant ready to serve you and a pool its so easy to spend your days here. The staff really makes an effort to give you a home a way from home experience! Thank you so much!

We had the best experience at Lions Rest in December . The staff were all exceptional, the rooms were clean and nicely decorated and the food was as amazing. Im a solo parent traveling with my 11yr old son, we felt like part of the Lions rest family immediately. The other guests were super friendly and the whole vide was chilled, relaxed and sociable Thank you to everyone at Lions test for making our first trip to Sri Lanka so enjoyable, we will be back! Happy 2026.

Recently stayed at Lions Rest and had the most amazing experience. Ayesh and his team are incredibly kind and helpful, the customer service and experience here is truly exceptional. The facilities are great and they also put on lovely events like weekly BBQ’s and show the sports when a big game is on! Also located next to the perfect sunset viewing point - highly recommend!

We had the most amazing time at lions rest! The location and the staff were incredible! There are so many surf spots near by and lucky and his son are on hand to give you advice or drive you to where will be good near by. We had our children with us (4 and 7) who were looked after like family. The manager helped us with transfers and was always willing to help us plan out days out. Food was great too!!! We will definitely be back!!
