Redhill Kandy in Kandy

My family and I recently had the pleasure of staying at Redhill Hotel, and it was truly a wonderful experience from start to finish. The hotel offers a perfect blend of comfort, tranquility, and warm Sri Lankan hospitality. A special mention goes to the owner, Chalanka, whose kindness and personal attention made our stay even more memorable. He goes above and beyond to ensure every guest feels welcome and well cared for, creating an atmosphere that feels more like a home than a hotel. One of the absolute highlights of my stay was the breathtaking view, not to be missed if you are staying in Kandy.

I’m currently travelling Sri Lanka as a solo female traveller, and my stay at RedHill Kandy has been one of the most peaceful and memorable parts of my trip so far. The suite I stayed in was absolutely captivating. The views over Kandy are breathtaking, waking up to rolling hills and misty mornings felt surreal. I spent hours on the balcony reading, doing yoga, and simply enjoying the stillness. It truly felt like a little sanctuary above the city, quiet, calm, and incredibly relaxing. Location-wise, it’s about a 15 to 20-minute walk to Kandy Lake. The walk itself is very scenic, with beautiful surroundings along the way, and I felt completely safe doing it. If you don’t feel like walking, tuk tuks are always easily available (RedHill Kandy also have their own Tuktuk driver) and very affordable. It’s close enough to everything, but just far enough away to escape the noise and properly unwind. Breakfast each morning was fresh and generous, fruit juice, a platter of fruit, toast, and omelette, the perfect way to start slow mornings overlooking the view. Chalanka, who runs RedHill Kandy, really adds to the experience. He is kind, attentive, genuinely cares that you enjoy your stay and has a calm presence - you instantly feel welcome around him. As a woman travelling alone, I felt completely comfortable the entire time. He gives thoughtful recommendations without being pushy, and when I mentioned I was heading to Nuwara Eliya, he suggested travelling by tuk tuk instead of taxi so I could enjoy the waterfalls and mountain scenery along the way. He arranged everything at a great price and organised stops so I can take in the views, I’m actually on my way now and very grateful for the advice. If you’re visiting Kandy and want somewhere peaceful with incredible views, especially as a solo female traveller, RedHill is a beautiful choice. It’s more than just accommodation; it’s a place where you can truly slow down and enjoy the moment.

Very nice owner of the hotel, who tried to help in every possible way, ordered a tuk-tuk for us and helped find a tour guide for the day. Very tasty and hearty breakfast.
Of the minuses: worn-out furniture, lots of midges, ants, dirty glass and dogs constantly barking outside the window.
In the evening, it is better to return by taxi, since these same dogs can attack you.
For dinner, you can go to a neighboring hotel at reasonable prices (we spent 4000 on dinner for two).

Great view and friendly staff

I stayed at the hotel two night with my two daughters. Saapuminen: Mikäli saavut Kandyyn julkisilla kulkuneuvolla niin suosittelen taxin tai tuktukin ottamista sillä kiivettävää riittää. Paikalle saapuessa meidät vastaanotti ystävällinen henkilökunta; omistaja ja kokki. Huone oli kuvien mukainen, sopiva budjettimatkailuun. Näkymät huoneesta olivat mielettömät. Kokki valmisti meille maittavan aamupalan molempina aamuinamme ja toisen vielä erittäin aikaisin ennen junaan lähtöämme.

Owner is friendly and wants to please
Tuk Tuk driver is knowledgeable, a good driver and a gentle soul.
Food opportunities in the area are available at the bigger hotels nearby but are not outstanding . I fact very ordinary. Better off to get Arjuth to take you down the hill. He knows the good places and is happy to help.
Breakfast is included in the very reasonable room charge. Sadly though, the hygiene of the kitchen and surrounds leaves a lot to be desired.
The place is a bit grubby and run down. Even though I'm being a bit harsh I would go back

had pleasure of staying at this hotel, and I couldn't be more impressed with the level of service and hospitality we received. From the moment we arrived, the staff went above and beyond to ensure our stay was comfortable and memorable.

The team was incredibly helpful in arranging transportation and suggesting places to visit. They recommended we attend the Tooth Relic Procession and suggested us to visit a waterfall, which turned out to be the most breathtaking waterfall I've ever seen. Their local knowledge truly enhanced our experience.

When our cab dropped us off in the mid , the hotel staff immediately came to pick us up in tuk-tuk.

The staff was consistently polite and accommodating, making us feel welcome and valued throughout our stay. I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a place where the staff genuinely cares about making your stay special. Thank you for the experience!
