Hotel Alex in Leukerbad

This has been one of my favorite hotel experiences ever. From the free on-site spa facilities of two different temperature dry saunas, a large steam room, a cold dunk tank,jacuzzis, and a large atrium relaxation room, to the breakfast included with the room was one of the best variety and well prepared meals I’ve had for a breakfast buffet. Lots of free passes were included for the amazing local thermal pools, local gondolas, and other goodies for direct reservations through their site. The hotel owners were attentive, helpful, and incredibly friendly. I give this place the highest of ratings!

Really pleasant surprise. Homely as you get into the reception. The signs are all generally in French and German (I think, I'm basically illiterate here) but the lady there spoke English enough for us to communicate. Very friendly. Incredibly helpful.

The decor is definitely from an older generation, but it felt like a lot of love had been put into it (and there might be a little surprise that gave my friend and I a really good laugh). The bathroom and bedroom were spotless. The towels smelled a little floral without being overbearing. I slept great.

We were tired when we got in and it was really nice to find there was a series of (European, so no bathing suits) sauna rooms downstairs (open from 16:30 to 19:00). For how homely it looks up top, the Grecian motifs of the wellness area took me aback. When we were there, they were renovating the foot pools, I think, and one of the sauna rooms were not in operation. They had a 55°C lemongrass room, a 45°C menthol steam room and a 85°C sauna room nonetheless. The jacuzzi hot tubs were 5 CHF per a set amount of time (I forgot how long) with a limit of 2 people per tub. They also had a really nice set of resting recliners where the upper floor had a view of the sky, which probably would've been really nice if it was cloudy when we were there.

Breakfast was a buffet including cured/cold meats, various types of bread, raw eggs to boil yourself along with whatever seasoning you want on it, honeys, jams, cereal of various types, juices, the hot drinks machine, fruits, muesli, yoghurt. I don't think I listed everything. Good variety, works for breakfast, as a Brit, still kinda missed my bacon, hash browns and baked beans, but hey, I was staying in a remote mountain town, so it was hardly surprising 😂

The staff at Hotel Alex were very friendly and helpful in providing information for our stay. I was pleasantly surprised to find out they have a finicular and their own steam rooms and spa services for guests to access on property. It was very relaxing and they made sure I had gluten free breads available for my breakfast. I will definitely stay there again.

The hotel is super well located. It has a private lift (“Alex Express” :-)) that leaves you ten meters way from the cable car to go skiing. Rooms are nice and clean, and the majority have great views over the valley. Most importantly, the staff is extremely friendly and will go the extra mile to make you have a comfortable stay. Thanks a lot!

Rooms are clean and spacious. Lovely and friendly service. There is even a game room for kids of all ages with foosball table, air hockey and video games, ping pong table. They have their own spa area, a good breakfast spread. Hotel is centrally located. We have stayed several times, always happy there.

Nice boutique hotel. A bit aged, but the very friendly owners make up for it.

Great get away during Corona Times ! Loved the funi bringing us up the hill to the main Gondola ! Lovely view from our three bed-room room on the GEMMI ! :)

Very good price-quality ratio. Friendly reception. Very clean. Beautiful and tasteful wellness oasis inside. Generous breakfast. Funny and convenient Alex express private funicular. We would go again!

Fantastic large rooms. Tasty ample breakfast. Amazing wellness centre that is better than some you would pay for. Lovely owners too.

The rooms are comfortable, two water bottles given, beds are good, we had a small sofa in our room The shower and sink are good, nothing special to say The staff is really nice, breakfast is good and diverse, good food quality There also is a small railcart that belongs to the hotel, which brings you directly to the slopes. It's reaaally useful and avoids some annoying stairs I'd recommend it
