Lanta Seafront Resort in Lanta Island

This place is not a resort but scammers who think they can cheat the foreigners. We booked 2 rooms for 4 nights on booking with the taxes and charges included in the price but when we arrived, we had a surprise, the lady at the reception told us that the room is not been charged on our card and we have to pay now. Immediately I realized that she will be asking now for card fee. Of course she immediately showed a sign 5% charge for credit card. I pointed out that the sign on booking that said that taxes and charges are included and that we do not have cash. She rudely answered that this is bank charge not related to booking, she was definitely trained in what to answer, that is our problem that we do not travel with cash and that we can go to the bancomat and get cash. I explained that the bancomat charges even more and she laughed and said, you see. The manager didn’t wish to show up after the rude receptionist called him. So don’t expect you manage to speak with someone competent. After long back and forth, we paid the 5% extra which is 1330 bath which is 36 eur approx more of what we were supposed to pay. The room was super basic, no bedside tables, no shelves to put your staff, the fridge switches off when you remove the card and our products went bad. Our room was so close to the pool that we had to close the curtains all the time to avoid people staring at us. The pool was crowded and with strong smell of chlorine so we couldn’t use it. The curtains are not blinding so we had to wake up early as in the morning the sun was strong and our son immediately woke us up. The balcony has broken railings with rasty nails coming out and our son nearly had them in his toe on the first day. The main door has a long crack and you could see through it. Uncomfortable as people could see in the room from outside. The general state of the room is very low. Needs refurbishment. We tried to make the booking support solve the issue of the over charge but the property is not answering to the support.

Terrible experience. Overbooked and left us stranded with nowhere to stay. We booked this hotel four months ago, confirmed with the hotel the day before arrival and travelled three hours to reach the hotel. Got there and was told by rude staff there is no room for us. We were then told there might be a twin room to which we said okay. They then informed us there was no twin room and we need to find somewhere else. The staff were the most rude people I’ve ever met and I urge anybody not to stay here. Dreadful
