Kohchang Privilege in Chang Island

We stayed at this hotel for 3 weeks and really loved it! It’s a budget place, but it has everything you need — a comfy bed, a clean bathroom, and even a clothes drying rack. The staff was super kind and even brought us a small table for the terrace, which was so nice.

Housekeeping was great — they cleaned every time we hung the sign on the door (we usually did it every other day). The hotel area is big and beautiful, with a well-kept lawn and lots of greenery. The staff takes amazing care of the garden — mowing, trimming bushes, and cutting any branches that hang too low.

We arrived before the high season, so there weren’t many guests. I often had the whole pool to myself, and they even turned on the jacuzzi for me 🥹

But the most impressive thing was how they handled a forgotten item — we accidentally left our camera on the table when we checked out and realized it only on the way to Bangkok 🫠 The staff helped right away and sent it back to us quickly and safely — and even refused to take any payment! It arrived in perfect condition the very next day.

A solo traveler, a convenient place for those who aren't picky. There's a Big C supermarket 250 meters away. There's a cafe 250 meters to the left of the road for food. Everything works in the room. The air conditioner is new, and the shower is big!

It’s not everywhere in Thailand you will find this kind of place. Five star

I really liked the location; it's a great place. Across the road from the Big C, a 3-minute walk.

The cottages are clean. No strange odors.

The bathroom is large, for such cottages.

New air conditioners.

There's a swimming pool on the property with views of the mountains and forest.

The sea is a 1-minute walk through the resort.

The beach is rocky. Swimming isn't ideal; you could get hurt. But wearing a mask is ideal.

There's no breakfast, but they provide a boiler with boiling water, cups, and coffee in the morning.

We paid 1,700 rubles per night for the room (November 2025)—a very good price for such a place.

The owner (David) is very friendly and inviting. He is usually around if you need something. Contrary to what some reviews have said, both pools were very clean and well kept. Also, you can go snorkeling for free right from the shore at the resort 👍😁👍 (edit) not sure what happened but this review was for the place next door, The koh Chang Resortel. All the pics are from the Resortel. Sadly it was closed down last time I was there in early '22. Maybe it will reopen 🤞. I did stay at the Privilege Resort that year. It was nice other than the AC taking 4 hours to cool the Bungalow, but I taped a magnet to a card to keep it running while I was out so it was fine for me 🤫

The staff is friendly, the rooms are clean and the place is overall good for the price. The beach is made out of rocks so it’s hard to go for a swim but the sunset is right in front of it so it’s beautiful !

PROS
Quiet place. Concrete bungalow, nothing fancy but comes with AC (a must here as it gets really hot). Big balcony. Very lovely rocky view on the sea, ideal for sunset or morning view breakfast. Well maintained swimming pool. The staff clean and replenish room with water bottles and instant coffee mix everyday. Big C supermarket just 5mins walk away and the amazing vegan restaurant Everflow was just nearby. There's also 2 places to eat just up the road that offered super delicious thai food.

CONS
Pay cash only. No proper table desk and chair for working. The bed mattress was hard and Wifi speed is bad. Anyone can see through your room if you dont pull the curtains. Privilege has only a rocky beach (not ideal for swimming or laydown) and is situated between white sand and klong prao beach. You need walk for 30mins or so to reach either beach unless you rent a bike. Note the road is not flat.

Simple, affordable accommodation with a pool, not on the beach.
Simple accommodation. Everything you need is in the room. Very hard bed, as is usually the case in Thailand. Positive that this simple accommodation has a pool. By the sea but not suitable for swimming, rocks, slippery and when I was there very cloudy water. Need transport to the sandy beach. There are restaurants up the road. Very quiet area. I enjoyed it. Quite okay for what you get for the money.

Cleaning everyday, very serene, perfect place foe if you want to be in a quiet environment away form the busy areas but also access white sand beach and kai bae by motorcycle.
