Centara Koh Chang Tropicana Resort in Chang Island

Out in the boondocks, 400m walk to get to the main road then ever further if you would like to explore and find a restaurant or different beach.

The day tours sold through the resort all had bad reviews so I would look to TripAdvisor and find an operator with better reviews.

Rooms were not amazing, hard pressed to get them turned over at reasonable time as well.

Staff can be inattentive at the restaurant, sometimes you had to wait a long time for drink and food even when the place is not busy.

Don't bother trying to hire a kayak or stand up paddle board either. 3 Kayaks for the whole entire resort it seems. Stand up paddle boards were in poor condition as well.

Overall, pretty disappointed in our stay.

We stayed at this hotel a year ago and had a great time, so we decided to come back – but this visit was completely disappointing.
The first room we got had a very strong smell of urine or ammonia that filled the entire room and bathroom. We asked to change rooms, and they moved us to another one but when I went to take a shower, there was no water at all.

When I called the reception, the staff said: “Let me check if there’s no water in the whole hotel or just in your room.”
That’s simply unacceptable if there’s no water in the hotel, the staff should already know.

It felt like they were trying to avoid responsibility instead of actually solving the problem.

I asked to check out and get a refund, but they kept me waiting almost 40 minutes in the lobby before finally giving me a form confirming the refund.

On top of that, there were also several power outages during that time.

I didn’t book the cheapest room I chose the third level of rooms available yet we got a far, poorly maintained room with dirty floors all the way from the lobby to the rooms.
We ended up leaving after just a few hours, not even staying for one night.

The worst part was that no one tried to make things right.
There was no sincere apology, no effort to improve our experience just quiet agreement to let us leave.
They completely ruined the start of our vacation and left us with a bad feeling and deep disappointment.

The only reason I’m giving 2 stars instead of 1 is the beautiful greenery and nature around the property it’s truly lovely and peaceful.

At the moment, the hotel feels like a 3-star property at best, with disappointing service.
It’s a shame this place has great potential, but until they seriously improve maintenance, service, and guest care, I won’t be coming back.
