GajaPuri Resort Koh Chang in Chang Island

I don’t even know how to start describing my 3 nights at this hotel… First of all I want to thank the staff for their kindness and smiles! They were amazing! But that is the only good thing about this place. Secondly let’s start with the prices, the room cost was about ~120€/per night, so I imagine for that kind of price you would get premium experience. But what did you get? A room with very low light, hardly to see anything in it, old and outdated room with a smell of mold, a big gap between the doors so all the insects could come visit as, like they did, especially mosquitos they even said hello at night with few bites! Sounds like a ~120€/per night experiance! Now let’s get down to facilities, the pool? Yes like in the pictures, beautiful! Sun beds? Oh yes! Old and stained with yellow spots! What a nice experience! Beach? Yes, some. Breakfest was really good! They always implement something new and like I said the staff is wonderful!
So is this a hotel worth visiting again? For 40-50€/per night, yes. For more than 100€/per night? Please just NO!
We had one more night in Koh Chang, and we didin’t want to end our vacation with that kind of “3-star Hotel experiance” so we choose their neighbour’s “Awa resort” which was WONDERFUL! And worth the cheaper price for it!

We booked 7 nights in what was advertised as a 50 m² family room. In reality, it was a cramped 25 m² bedroom and a 25 m² bathroom. The bedroom smelled of mold, the bedding had stains, and the bathroom was full of mosquitoes. Nothing here has been maintained for decades.

The “beach” they advertise doesn’t exist. You step straight into the sea. The so-called sunbeds are broken, filthy, and clearly decades old. Not a place where you’d want to sit, let alone spend your holiday.

The pools are equally depressing. One “adults only” pool that is outdated and joyless, and a tiny kids’ pool that looks like it belongs in the 1980s — surrounded by torn fake grass and broken chairs.

On top of that, the resort is huge but completely deserted. Walking around feels like being in a ghost town. It’s so empty and neglected that it’s actually unsettling. I wouldn’t even want to imagine what it’s like to sit here alone at night.

Another warning: take a very good look at the photos before you book. At first glance they seem attractive, but if you look closely you already notice how small the rooms are and how outdated everything is. And then remember: these are the best rooms, from the best angles, on the best day. In reality it is far worse — old, broken, depressing.

And the service? The worst I’ve ever seen. When we tried to cancel immediately after arrival, the receptionist first demanded full payment for 7 nights, then “offered” 2 nights. Minutes later, her manager shouted at us over the phone, refused to give his name, and forced us to pay for 3 nights — even though we stayed less than an hour.

We paid €100–150 per night. In truth, even if they paid us that amount per night to stay here, we still wouldn’t do it.
