BaanSu Hostel in Bangkok

This was my second stay, and the elderly couple who own the place were just as welcoming and warm as ever. The room is always spotlessly clean, and every time I stay, it feels just like coming home. Plus, it's really close to the Siam shopping area, with a convenience store and traditional Thai street food right outside. It's also super convenient for visiting attractions like the Grand Palace.

I love the neighbourhood sabai-sabai is real. I’ve tried local food stalls and convenient to travel. Will be travelling to Thailand very soon!

I really liked it. There were 4 of us traveling, and the room was incredibly spacious. Although the bathroom was outside, it was very close, just two steps away. The guesthouse itself was also very quiet, and the hosts, an elderly couple, were very kind! I recommend it and would definitely stay here again if I come back.

The location is great, it's easy to walk to nearby shops and restaurants, and it's very clean. The single room was quite comfortable to stay in.

Downsides: The soundproofing is practically non-existent; there's a mosque next door with call to prayer; and there was no hand soap or shampoo/shower gel in the bathroom, and the shower gel wasn't refilled.

The place is very clean. The owner is very friendly. I like this place so much which let me feel I at home.

The owners are an elderly couple, very kind and helpful. Even though it's a youth hostel, they keep the place impeccably clean, literally spotless – you can stay with complete peace of mind. The hotel is a convenient 15-minute walk from Siam Paragon and easily accessible by public transport. It's also quiet at night, no disturbances. Their cat is super playful too, quite a warrior!

Had an amazing stay here. The lovely couple who host the place made it feel like home. Nothing fancy, but their warm hospitality really stood out. Even during the electricity outage, they kept updating me — such a nice gesture. I think I might be back here again.

The elderly couple who hosted us were incredibly kind and helpful. When I arrived all sweaty and sticky, they even offered me their bathroom to freshen up and allowed me to check in early free of charge. The laundry service was also excellent; my clothes came back the next day smelling lovely and fresh, which was a nice touch.

However, perhaps I was just unlucky, as I was assigned to a bungalow tucked away in the furthest corner, a room that wasn't even featured in their promotional photos. This room had no windows and consequently, very poor ventilation. It truly felt like it had been converted from a storage room. To make matters worse, a large truck was often parked right outside my door, sometimes even with a bicycle, which added to the claustrophobic feeling. Inside, the power outlets and light switches were inconveniently far from the bed, and the air conditioning unit blew directly onto the bed, making for uncomfortable nights.

The adjacent toilet was a shared, mixed-gender facility. While it was somewhat tolerable in the morning, by night, it had an indescribable foul odor. This felt particularly unfair because the promotional pictures clearly showed separate male and female restrooms, and it seemed only the upstairs rooms actually matched those pictures. I paid the same price but received a significantly inferior living environment.

Furthermore, when I wanted to access the lobby for water in the morning, the doors were locked. The lobby itself also looked nothing like the photos; it was cluttered with the hosts' personal belongings and appeared to be primarily for their own use. As a result, guests on the ground floor felt somewhat restricted, and it certainly didn't feel like a genuine communal space.

I did ask to switch rooms, but the owner claimed the other rooms were already booked for the next day. It didn't fully register until the following day, but then it struck me: if I was the first to arrive, why couldn't I move into an available upstairs room? This seemed quite unfair.
