Where to stay with kids in Ko Samet

Our only small quibble was the lack of sunloungers, though we appreciate the high occupancy whilst we were there. Nice room, some small plumbing issues though. I guess island amenities! Overall an excellent stay

The second time I booked a premier room for 2 nights in the Sai Kaew Resort. You get into the hotel and just feel well. It's modern, clean, quiet. Good breakfast (please offer bananas and nutella in future).

The whole travel to and from the island via the ferry and cars where your luggage is delivered to your room was excellent. The staff were very friendly and helpful and the breakfast was excellent

Everything about this hotel is just great

I've stayed at this hotel three times. The first two times, I stayed in the Premier area. Last time, while walking around the hotel, I saw that the bungalows had great views, so this time I decided to stay in one

We stayed in a private bungalow right by the pool – swimming twice a day was pure bliss!

The service was excellent, and the accommodation was spotless. The natural scenery was breathtaking, offering fantastic photo opportunities. They also have a lovely swimming pool, and the food was delicious! 🤍

The hotel is clean, and the rooms are spacious. The pool is also large and well-maintained. It's not far from the pier and has good cafes and restaurants nearby.

Excellent! It's close to the beach and has a swimming pool for the kids. Getting there was easy, and the breakfast was varied and delicious

It's perfect for a family vacation where you truly want to relax. There's not much traffic passing by, so it's incredibly quiet

The room and facilities were very clean and well-kept. , they also hosted an outdoor movie, which was such a nice touch. I really enjoyed my stay here and will definitely come back again

From the moment I checked in, I felt very welcomed by the front desk team, especially Khun Janphen. She was attentive, detail-oriented, and always ready to help with anything I needed

Second line from the beach, communal pool and dining areas are stuffed with people, light in some rooms is not good, they open onto internal passageways so people walking by regularly doesn’t make it very peaceful

I love Pavillion resort at Ao Phai beach in Samed. Great breakfast, friendly staff, nice pool. The only downside was I found it difficult to get the shower at a good temperature, either too hot or too cold

Great rooms. Lovely staff. Near one of the nicest bays on Koh Samet, busy but chilled. Small pool. Only downside of the hotel is it's not a beach front, but would recommend staying there.

What a beautiful place. Bar with outside seating is perfect gor seeing besutiful Samed sunset. Drink are great. I had the Bird of Paradise.

Additionally, the private pool in our villa was stagnant and lacking chlorine which made it a mosquito heaven. Now to finish on positive notes, the beach was beautiful and well maintained

Perhaps we were unlucky but our villa needed some renovations and, because BOTH the shower and bath are outside, you end up having no choice but showering with leaves, mosquitoes and spiders which is sub-optimal to say the least

A 5-stars hotel with about 10 occupied rooms should know the bare minimum about their guests in order to make them feel like they are in good hands. Unfortunately this wasn’t the case

We mentioned on our booking we were vegan yet every… single… meal… was a battle having to explain that we don’t eat animal products

There are no sun loungers, just tables on the sand. When it's high tide, the water comes right up to the hotel entrance, and when it's low tide in the evenings, it recedes about 200 meters, creating space for a walk

Breakfast is mediocre, and the service is too; everyone is a bit slow, but that's okay, it works for a couple of days' stay

We had a wonderful experience! The staff were so helpful and friendly. The pool and facilities were clean. The location was wonderful with direct access to a quiet beach.

Close to the beach, excellent service, and we were very happy with the room they assigned us.

I had to go out onto the balcony every time and stretch my arm with my phone towards the pool. The internet on the beach also worked poorly. The Wi-Fi was only good by the pool. The TV in our room also didn't work

This hotel isn't bad, it's stylishly designed, and the room is clean and tidy. The only downside is that there's no real beach directly attached to the hotel, and the access is from the sea side

If you want to walk to the nearest little cove it will take you about 20 min , otherwise you can catch a “ taxi” which will cost you 200 Baht- or 250 Baht to the center , where you will find just past the tourists doctors on the left the best Thai food ever

The breakfast is delicious, the grounds are well maintained, and the atmosphere is calm and relaxing — exactly what you need for a perfect holiday. We truly enjoyed our stay and will definitely come back again

Only negative is that this side of the island is owned mostly by the same resort chain so the options for variation in food is limited so would not recommending spending more than 3-4 days

The rooms are comfortable, clean and quiet — perfect for relaxing after a day in the sun and by the sea. The staff is friendly and attentive, always ready to help

Wonderful stay at Ao Prao Resort A very cozy hotel with an excellent location right on a beautiful beach with white sand and crystal-clear water

The resort is at the end of the road which gives you 90% privacy / motor bikes aren’t allowed and day guests drift in and out

We had a bad experience in Koh Samet before arriving at Samed Ville Resort, so this stay really changed our perspective. To be completely honest, this might be the best beach on the island

It was absolutely stunning, and if we could, we would have stayed for another week without hesitation. Breakfast would have been good if the food had been hot — unfortunately, everything was served cold

The restaurant is quite overpriced for what it delivers. One downside was that the sunbeds were not included and had to be paid for separately

Breakfast was tasty, but the food was often lukewarm or cold since it’s not kept warm, especially if you arrive later

That said, the staff was always amazing, extremely kind, and very helpful throughout our stay

Since the three of us could comfortably share the king-sized bed, we declined and only paid for the child's breakfast, which was 200 baht per day

This is my fifth time vacationing in Thailand, and I've also traveled to the Philippines, Malaysia, Singapore, Mauritius, the Maldives, and Hamilton Island, but this is honestly the first time I've encountered a staff member so rude

She pointed her finger at me and loudly demanded that I push the water bottle from the middle of the table to against the wall. Upon check-in, they asked for 500 baht per night for an extra bed for our 6-year-old

Thankfully, my English speaking skills are decent, and after a big argument, he ended up yelling that he was going to call the police. Overall, I still wouldn't recommend booking a hotel here

One evening, we also encountered teenagers on the beach who were indiscriminately bullying kids playing there. I never even saw something like this in Australia, yet it happened on Koh Samet

The pricing attracts a certain type of clientele, and since there are many very cheap hotels nearby, the beach attracts all sorts of tourists

The room was very small and full of mosquitoes. Seriously, it was tiny. The conditions were pretty mediocre overall, but the location was great, making it suitable for families traveling with children.

The hotel is lovely, and the traditional wooden bungalow is perfect for a solo traveler, what was not great is the constant music till 10 at night, if you are looking for peace and quiet this is not the place to stay

I stayed in a standalone Thai-style bungalow, which was really nice, but the birds outside started chirping at 5 AM and it was a bit noisy. Every evening there were beach fire dance shows

The hotel restaurant is right by the beach, so you can sit there all day with a beer or coffee. The only downside is that the breakfast is pretty mediocre, haha

One thing they can do to level this resort up, is to build a pool in one of the terrace area. That definitly will give this resort a five star

Starting at 5 you have the saxophone player, followed by a one man band, then the fire show, and then the one man’s band again till 10- to 10

The staff are very accomodating and the service is excellent making our family feel like at home. It is located on a very beautiful beach with crystal clear water and a reef of the beach which you can snorkel

Lovely quiet spot at the end of the beach, staff were helpful and friendly, the cottages were large, spacious and clean. Breakfast was good, not masses of choice but enough.

Best location we saw after visiting at least 6 beaches. Hotel is not operating at capacity so it’s very quiet. I wish the beach bar was open but there are plenty just steps down the beach

Another fantastic stay at c samet. We love the hotel position with beautiful view from the room and beaxh that is most quiet. People are very nice there too, hope to stay again soon Traveled as a family with a kid

Our only issue was that the pool's PH level was way off and caused a bit of irritation for the boys and I could not, at all, open my eyes underwater. Hopefully this is a one-off event

Thank you! Oh, and there's a small restaurant run by an old man to the north that's absolutely delicious! Try the Tom Yum Goong and Mama noodles! My husband and I, along with the Swedish couple at the next table, completely cleaned our plates

Being close to Christmas, the evenings here left a wonderful impression on me! The room was quite spacious, with an IKEA-esque style. There's an outdoor balcony, perfect for reading in the morning

Baan is the closest of the four hotels to the pier (as shown in the last picture), which was a huge relief! It's just a 1-minute walk, saving us the hassle of getting a tuk-tuk

To the north, it's less crowded and beautifully scenic – I really love it here! Breakfast was also quite extensive, with several dishes you could select individually

But the real highlight is the location and the view! Being so close to the beach was perfect, and our room offered truly beautiful, breathtaking views of the coast

We had an absolutely wonderful stay! This hotel is a gem—it’s spotless and incredibly well-maintained. The feeling of cleanliness made us instantly comfortable

Two small caveats that don't merit a star deduction. One, the AC smelled bad for about one day. Second, in high season, the beach chairs are really crowded closely together. Not a big deal, just wanted to mention it

I was on the 4th floor and the hotel doesn't have an elevator, so of course I had to climb 4 flights of stairs, but it was worth it because the view from the top floor was amazing. The room was big and clean.

The location is right opposite to beach with their restaurant in between. Rooms are like nice and clean but the orientation is like a dormitory with walls between the rooms and glass partition n door at room entrance

There are several beach restaurants available, the vibe is chilled, without the drinking or ******** culture. Our welcome was warm, the staff were great and happy to help with our luggage

The resort room has everything you need. The bed comfortable and the breakfast choice extensive. I really enjoyed the coffee. The pool is also good and nice to cool down. Staff helped me to the bus with my luggage.

This is a good low budget option to experience island life, but not that low budget £60 per night ( January 2026) We are very familiar with island life in Thailand and appreciate that some things just don’t work as well

The location of Malibu Samed Resort is gorgeous, it’s more or less situated on the beach of the small quaint Wong Duean Bay

It’s good and clean. Pretty far from saikeaw beach but it’s clean. The room is good and the swimming pool is amazing

However the shower was an issue, obviously water is limited on the island and taking a hot shower was challenging but actually having a good supply of water either in the evening or morning was very hit and miss

Top choice in Koh Samed. Located on the beach with a very nice restaurant that also offers bbq during week ends!

This was our family's first ever Xmas abroad and Pandora made it the best Xmas ever! The rooms were spacious and perfect for our family of 5 (2 Adults, 3 kids aged 10, 8 and 4 and would be cleaned, with fresh towels provided, whenever we asked, daily if needed

The 2 pools offered variety and activity for the kids which meant that some days we didn't need to leave the resort

They couldn't have been more generous with their help and guidance and even booked us a stunning restaurant and location for our family Xmas meal :-) The food at the resort itself was very excellent and varied, with both local and western options

Great resort, tucked out of the way but within easy reach to restaurants & bars. Stunning beaches a few hundred metres away staff are super friendly & helpful. Rooms need a little tlc.

I stay here every time I visit the island, and I would not choose anywhere else. The staff is extremely, extremely kind and welcoming — there is absolutely nothing to complain about

I stayed in the Ocean Front Jacuzzi room, which is one of their new ones. The views are amazing, and its balcony is in the perfect position to enjoy the live music and fire show that starts at 19:30 every night

Most of the bad reviews here are from people who didn't do their due diligence. This resort has a mixture of extremely old rooms, and extremely new rooms - it's up to you to know what you're booking

The resort is very peaceful as it's far from the main beaches. Ao Thian is small, but beautiful with clear water. The shower was very hot and very powerful

The wifi throughout the resort was excellent: 300Mbps to 500Mbps. The food at the restaurant was mostly excellent (chicken burger was a let down, but all the Thai food I ate was excellent)

Negatives: Breakfast was poor - everything was cold. The coffee, even the fried eggs. I skipped it on the second morning of my stay. The AC unit in the room was a little bit too loud
