Zenon Hotel in Midoun

Originally i booked a hotel I visited in March but as some amenities were unavailable I accepted a £70 refund and downgraded to Zenon and believe me it was a downgrade. I travel a lot and never experienced anything like this from a 3 star hotel. The hotel in general is dirty, just checking in the flies were swarming around me at reception. The only drinks available on all inclusive were beer (when available) fig brandy, and whiskey. All other drinks have to be paid for at British prices, 14 dinar for vodka which is around £4.50 also 8/10 times there was no ice as the machine was broken. The food is awful, hardly any selection, food isn't marked clearly to identify it and if you don't get there as soon as the dining area opens it will be cold and will include flies. There is also a cat problem, they will jump up on the tables in the dining area and pool area and I never once the whole week saw a table being wiped, just bits wiped off with the hand onto the floor. The green napkins on the tables in the dining area are never washed, please don't get me wrong I am not a fussy person but I actually went hungry on a couple of occasions this week. The only pool went a few days without being cleaned and filtered and was absolutely filthy, there were always plenty of sun loungers as I feel most of the guests just used the hotel to sleep in. On a good note, at every other breakfast hot fresh donuts are made and these are divine. The entertainment staff do the best with what they have got, some of the staff are pleasant, (others are just downright rude) the room attendants of which there are only 2 for the whole hotel do an absolutely fantastic job and work extremely long hours the rooms were checked each day and supplies were always replenished. Expect to take a taxi ride if you want entertainment of any kind in the evenings, they are cheap as chips. There are 2 cash machines nearby but they never worked whilst I was there. So that's it, do some research yourself and you will see this hotel has had around 7 different names and the reviews have large gaps. I love Djerba but as I live on a budget and had no choice but to just stick this hotel out it ruined my holiday.
