Lovely accommodation, nice staff and brilliant located. During check-in they were really nice to me and showed me around the place. I went up to the rooftop terrace (which is a nice feature) and wanted to take some photos from the nice view. As I just arrived in Tunisia, I did not know that is is apparently prohibited in the old town to take pictures. The manager, who used to be a lovely lady 5mins ago, started questioning me 4 times if I'm a journalist and wanted me to prove it, revealing my social media where I upload pictures of my travels as most European tourists do. That made me oddly uncomfortable and the warm welcome was fastly gone. There are no signs telling you it is not allowed. After that, I asked 3 locals in the Medina about it and none could confirm her statement. Very odd incident which added an uncomfortable vibe to my stay their unfortunately

Lovely place in the middle of the meson, strategically placed with shops, restaurants and tourist attractions. The host and owner is lovely and hospitable!

I stayed at Dar Kenza for two nights with my friends, and we had a great experience. The room they gave us was very spacious and beautifully traditional, which added a lot of charm to our stay. One of the highlights was definitely the terrace – absolutely stunning and perfect for relaxing after a day out. Breakfast was also very good, with a nice variety of food. Overall, we were really pleased and would definitely come back!

I dont like giving bad reviews to small places, but this is no 3-star hotel. It is misleading info, so clarifying it.
This is an old apartment with steep stairs that posed challenges even for the young and fit, let alone for someone recovering from knee surgery.
Imagine a cramped, windowless New York apartment with no elevator and a narrow staircase.

The accommodations lacked windows, and the beds and furnishings were of poor quality. The wardrobes were broken, and hot water was only available after manually turning on the gas—a detail they neglected to mention. There were no towels provided in the bathroom, no hairdryer, and no place to hang clothes. Requests for assistance required climbing up 20 stairs. Additionally, the coffee and breakfast served was subpar, and despite informing them of our vegetarian diet, we were served chicken soup. I was forced to share bathrooms with my friend couple despite having paid for single accommodation.
The surrounding area of the Medina was unclean. Similarly, other guest experiences, no laundry, lacked standard facilities that even 1 star hotels provide. We were distracted by the condition of the place. We didn't even tour the famed medina and checked out ASAP.
This may be popular, but not my cup of tea.

I felt like home chez Duha and her beautiful son and daughters. This traditional house is full of atmosphere and nice details. The food is very good and the terrace is amazing. Dinner there is highly recommended. Is a good value for money and Duha is a very nice and kind host. Thank you!

We made a reservation and there was a nightmare, zero service and an unprofessional welcome, the reservation was via WhatsApp and on arrival nothing was in line with what we had reserved to be eliminated from TripAdvisor, zero service, the breakfast was catastrophic

Staff in Dar Kenza are amazing!! very welcoming and helpful from the get go; the stay was smooth, it felt like a home and the breakfast is fantastic. If you are looking to stay close to the medina and city center this is the perfect location. Great to stay with family or friends.
I recommend this 100% and I will defenitely come back here :)
Moreover, I had last minute changes and had to stay more time and they were always helpful and flexible, thanks very much for everything!

Dar El Jeld is well known all over Tunisia and you can tell they set the standard for incredible decor and service. Everything at this location is beautiful. The rooms are spacious, the place itself is a fixture in the medina with its ornate yellow doors and blue windows. The staff are super helpful. The food is outstanding. And the view from the roof is gorgeous. You can get to/away via taxi which is hard for most places in the medina. One of the nicest places we have stayed anywhere.

I am profoundly perplexed by the high mark this restaurant receives. Apart from the amazing dining room in an old converted palace, everything else is decidedly ordinary. Yes they do welcome you on arrival and make you sit in the front lounge but do not have the finesse to offer you the menu to ponder over whilst waiting, let alone a small nibble to whet your appetite. Once you are sat at the table and given the menu, a miserable looking older man comes around to take your orders with not a sliver of a smile or acknowledgment. Shockingly, the menu is very limited and reminiscent of a fixed priced pre-theatre tourist menu hence you can forget indulging yourself in any kind of feasting. And if that failed to disappoint you, you can then rest assure that the food will taste no different from any other Tunisian restaurants charging half the price. This was our sixth Tunisian restaurant at this point. In fact my fish soup was so tasteless and so was the fish couscous, I had never been so happy to see a salt cruet. Even the wine list fails to include any non-Tunisian wines which is almost a crime for a supposedly upmarket restaurant. All in all, this is a very bog standard Tunisian restaurant that happened to be in a nice room. More hype than substance. You will not eat any better here just because they have pretty mosaics and lamps. Not recommended unless you really don’t know what to do with your money.

Very nice Environment and very kind team.

We came without reservation but they were very kind to accommodate us and found us a nice table.

The food is amazing and for the price it worth the value.

Will visit again very soon and will be pleased to come for this restaurant.

Absolutely amazing! Zero fault! Best place to stay near the Medina and top 3 places to stay in all of Tunis, period.
You must book a dinner in the downstairs restaurant. The rooftop restaurant is very nice too!
Service is top Notch!
The room, perfect!
The Spa is also very nice.
I am typically very critical of places I review but this Hotel is just an absolute Gem!

Call when you're on your way there so they can meet you on the street side and help you with your luggage if you have a lot.

Beautiful historic hotel in the Medina, immaculately renovated. Rooftop terrace is lovely on a sunny afternoon.

Highly recommend to stay. If you’re staying elsewhere in Tunis recommend the a stop at the terrace when visiting the Medina. The bartenders are quite skilled.

I particular recommend for couples.
