Boutique Saint Sophia Hotel in Istanbul

Convenient location, just steps from the Hagia Sophia (with a direct view of the cathedral from the window), the Sultanahmet tram station, and the Sultanahmet square, with the Blue Mosque a little further away. The staff is friendly. The room is a bit cramped, but overall we enjoyed our stay. It's perfect for a quiet getaway. The only downside is that there's a slight climb from the street to the hotel entrance.

I am writing to share feedback regarding my recent stay at your hotel from 21st Nov 2025 to 25 Nov 2025.
While the hotel has an excellent location, with most places accessible within a 15-minute walk, and the staff were friendly and the rooms were clean and serviced daily, there were several issues that significantly impacted my experience.
The main concern was the room climate control. Although the room had an AC control panel, we were unable to change the temperature or turn the fan on, as the settings are apparently centrally controlled and cannot be adjusted. Additionally, the bathroom ventilation was not activated. This resulted in the room becoming very humid and warm at times. Opening the windows was not a practical solution due to the loud noise from the tram line.
Other issues included a non-functioning refrigerator in the room. I also noted that an iron was not provided in the room, though I assume one could have been provided upon request. Finally, due to the tram line, the road access for taxis is restricted, making it inconvenient to transport luggage to and from the hotel.
Because of these issues, we personally will not be staying at this hotel again. I hope this feedback is helpful as you work to improve your guest experience.

The location is superb, right next to the Hagia Sophia, making it incredibly convenient to visit the Hagia Sophia, the Blue Mosque, and the Topkapi Palace.

Furthermore, the service from Evan was excellent – ​​he helped me carry my luggage up the small stairs outside the hotel upon arrival and explained many things to note during check-in. On the day of my departure, he also arranged for my luggage to be stored properly, allowing me to explore with peace of mind on my last day. The hotel's Turkish breakfast was also very generous. Highly recommended, especially for independent travelers!

The hotel is old, but the staff are very friendly. The roads are a bit inconvenient when using taxis, but the tram is easily accessible. The Blue Mosque and Hagia Sophia are both within walking distance, so you can save time by not having to go sightseeing.

Lovely Boutique Hotel. We stayed at Hotel St. Sophia for 4 nights. Excellent location for all the major tourist attractions. Rooms were very clean and nicely kept, could have been a bit larger especially if you have lots of luggage, but we were very comfortable.
All the staff, from waiters , housekeeping and concierge/ reception were very helpful, polite and extremely nice. Sedat and his team (Enes, Taha and everyone else were fantastic.
Breakfast was nice also.
On the whole a very enjoyable trip

Friendly service, convenient to surrounding attractions

Location is absolutely fantastic! Right next door to Hagia Sophia & the blue mosque! Walking distance to everything you want to see in this area of Istanbul. Service from staff was fantastic. Breakfast was yummy. Rooms are okay, very small, bathrooms look better then what they actually are, a lot of mould in the shower, and we had a smell in our room, I think there had been water damage with the floor boards and it was starting to smell… that’s my only ‘complaint’. Everything else is fantastic.
