The Westin London City in London

We stayed in the last week of the year, through new years'.

The good: superb location, short walk from multiple train stations and walking distance to a few attractions (St Paul's, Borough Market, Tate Modern). Also impressed by the quality of the continental buffet breakfast that we went daily, we thought the spread was decent.

Echo the other reviews that the experience fell short considering the price point, and Elite member recognition was only the bare minimum.

1) ALL toiletries except soaps had to be requested for, last thing you want to do after a long flight is to find that you have to wait even longer to freshen up. It was probably peak season for the hotel, so each request took almost an hour to deliver.

2) Shower flooring is very slippery when wet (I slipped), and bath mats again had to be requested for — which was also small and did not cover most of the area you'd walk on in the shower.

3) Bathrobes were not provided and had to be requested. Most annoyingly they were taken away during housekeeping with no fresh ones replaced, so we had to request again.

4) We were "upgraded" to a high floor room but our window view was directly looking into the offices in the adjacent building so it really didn't feel like an upgrade. Usually this would've been fine, but we were on our honeymoon (made known pre-arrival and also at check-in) so we were slightly disappointed. Could be the NYE effect, but was hopeful for a better shot at better upgrades at a Bonvoy property vs other hotels at similar price points.

5) Also the only 5-star property that didn't give welcome notes / amenities (some even do handwritten notes daily at turndown!). Plus the fact that the buffet breakfast is not naturally an entitlement for Elite members, you have to trade your welcome points for it.

Titanium Elite, if it helps contextualise. As it currently stands, this property is terrible value for money.
