Goldstar Inn in Los Angeles

On January 28, 2026, at Goldstar Inn & Suites (12165 San Fernando Rd, Sylmar, CA), I experienced what I believe was a violation of ADA disability accommodation standards.

I have a disability, and at the time my phone had been stolen. I politely requested minimal assistance from the staff member on duty — simply asking if he could help place a brief phone call so I could arrange payment for a room. I had valid payment available and also had another person physically present who was willing to pay cash on my behalf.

Despite this, the employee refused to provide assistance, denied me service, treated me in a hostile and dismissive manner, and unnecessarily attempted to involve law enforcement. The situation caused distress and humiliation. After I asserted my awareness of my rights, his demeanor changed noticeably. I also witnessed another guest being denied service in a similar manner.

Businesses open to the public are required to provide reasonable accommodation and equal access to individuals with disabilities. I am requesting that management review this incident, ensure ADA compliance, and provide proper training to prevent similar situations in the future.

My family and I stayed at Goldstar Inn last year, November 2023. We stayed upstairs in a 2 bedroom. The microwave is downstairs. The room had roaches, started off a few, and then it seemed like an infestation, especially behind the fridge. Whoever occupied the room prior, it wasn't cleaned out properly. The persons who lived in the other rooms, some smoke a lot, this came over in person rooms. It has a sign no smoking, yet people still smoke. If someone doesn't smoke 🚬 no one wants secondhand smoke 😤. Sometimes, it had some really shady people there, especially. Even a situation with the stove was a mess. Heard other persons complained as well. Thankfully, we had a place to sleep super grateful, but they need to do better at Goldstar Inn. Even if you are renting out to other persons, or just for a night, or to LA Family Housing as someone mentioned, persons deserve to be in a comfortable space free from roaches, smoke, etc.
One time it had a vehicle, with bees on a car OMG, the Bee guy had to come and get it, getting the Bee Queen first. This was a sight to see.

The motel is not in the best area. The room was clean. Floors look new. There was no table and only one chair. Towels were old and fringed. No coffee maker or microwave in the room. The room is very dark because it is painted in a dark color. The bathroom has no vent.

I didn't have too much fun or relaxation because there wasn't any hygiene supply nor a remote for the TV and the lights didn't turn until I turned on the braker box for the eletricaty
