I've stayed in some pretty disgusting hotels in my life but this one was one of the worst I've ever been in. The room was huge and had so much potential if they would actually take care of it. There was dust everywhere and grimy food marks on the table. I actually went out and bought blankets and towels just to cover the bed and chair while we used them. As many people have already mentioned there are roaches. Specifically, there is one roach that lived in the microwave that me and my son still joke about to this day. It just stayed getting microwaved over and over. It will outlive the apocalypse. If you're going to stay here bring your own bedding and a lot of lysol wipes.
We brought our puppy and while we had the door propped open (because the air con wasn't working) she snuck out. Our fault. But she was literally a little happy puppy. The women was FREAKING OUT screaming at us that our dog was scaring other guests. I looked around and the only other guest that was there was laughing at her. She scared our puppy so bad she peed herself. If you're SO afraid of dogs that you can't handle a puppy maybe don't allow pets.
They also charged us a "deposit" of $35 for the remote and when I went to give it back as we checked out he just stared at me. He did not credit me back. I was so over how ridiculous they were i just kind of laughed and was like, "okay dude. Thanks. Bye."

I hate giving bad reviews to obvious family businesses but they are doing the absolute least.

Should be a zero. When I went to check in, they said there was no room, even though I had a confirmed reservation and had already paid. They did not contact me at any time to say my reservation was canceled, and have still not refunded my money. They should not be allowed on any booking site/app.

DO NOT USE THIS PLACE!
THIS PLACE IS INFESTED WITH ROCHES.
First, we had to pay a $10 deposit to get the TV Remote. I found that a bit sketchy at first. This location has a “rent-a-guard” sitting in the small lobby just reading a book. Room #209 we were given was large but only had a large table, 2 vinal covered chairs a queen size bed, 2 end tables and a TV. The rest of the room was void of any furniture. Ther was holes in the walls and ceiling. There were cigarette burns on the floor, burnt into the Formica. No lamps, making it hard to see at night. There was no microwave in the room, and the refrigerator was small. Which I did not even open, because I was afraid too. The window, when opened, had no screen.
The amenities outside the room consisting of a broken soda machine and two microwaves that were old and dirty. The area right out of the room was worn and dated to include the security gate to the parking lot which the lock was broken.
! I can understand one rough, this is California, but after 10 (8 in the bath and 2 under the bed) – we checked out and risked our safety driving 400 miles to home in the middle of the night.

It'll do. There are roaches. The AC doesn't work. There are missing tub features. The parking was difficult on the slant. 20 dollars a day in cash for pets. As a single male who likes to live dangerously, I didn't mind leaving the door open for cool air. My bully mix was uncomfortable with the sketch of the area, but she is spoiled and had never seen a rough area before. It was good for her to experience and it reminded me of where I came from. I will never come back here but it was ok. They have irons if you ask. It'll do.

The price of $80 a night is to expensive for a roach and bed bug invested Flop House. Poor customer service skills by management. Drugs and Gangs there alot.

First off, the area of Highland Park the motel is located in is very nice with trendy restaurants, coffee shops, etc. But the motel itself is something straight out of a horror movie.

When we first walked into our room I immediately thought of the first “Saw” film because the room looked that effed up. Exposed pipes with a hasty, sloppy paint job. Water damage throughout and a damaged window. The room was cavernous and unwelcoming and the first thing I wondered when we walked in was, “I wonder how many people died in this room?” The bathroom tub was filthy, the bed spread had cigarette burn marks, crusty sheets, and (of course) the TV didn’t work. We had booked to stay for two nights as we were attending events in the area and the drive back home usually takes an hour or more (good old LA traffic). After the first event we dreaded going back to the hotel but we did stay overnight. The next day we left early for the next event and by the time that one was over with, we both decided that we couldn’t spend another night there. At 11:30 PM we rushed to pack up all of our stuff and hightailed it out. We weren’t the only ones as we saw several other people checking out asap as well with similar looks of terror on their faces. The hour drive back home wasn’t bad and it’s something we continue to talk about to this day. The creepy Highland Park Motel and what dark secrets lay hidden behind its water stained, cracked walls.

I've never given a hotel a one star rating. Right after I checked in, I was walking to my room and two guests who were leaving said to run as there was a roach infestation. They weren't exaggerating, my hotel room was FULL of german roaches! You couldn't even walk into the room without stepping on a baby one. It was like a scene from a horror movie, I can’t even describe. When I say everywhere, I mean everywhere! Like when you step on a pile of ants and they all rush out. Disgusting, there was also old food left on the desk in our room. We booked a new hotel, it was like a nightmare.

When we got to our room, it had clearly not been cleaned AT ALL, and it smelled strongly of cigarettes even though we had requested a non-smoking room. The floor was not swept, there were hairballs on the floor, the sink was nasty, and the doorknobs were greasy. When we told the front desk person we'd like a new room, she took us to another room that was dirtier and smelled worse, sprayed some aerosol, and told us that there was nothing she could do and she had no more rooms available. They gave us a partial refund (we had only been checked in for 20 minutes and had not used the room at all). Do not stay here.

Didn't have toilet paper, towels were dirty and looked used. Shower handle was on backwards, kept shutting off while trying to adjust temperature. Water barely came out so it took forever just to take a shower..

Very much clean.
A very clean motel.
Staff nice and caring.
I myself suggest that this motel is the home away from home.
