Rooms definitely need some updating. It’s probably an electrical fire waiting to happen. Cool eclectic vibes. It had a cute courtyard and our girls enjoyed the pool.

Beautiful outdoor setting-peaceful and relaxing. The room was clean, the bed was comfortable and the staff was friendly and accommodating.

While the neighborhood may look unsettling, once you get inside you'll find an historic gem. Large, clean rooms with updated bathrooms, modern amenities, great connectivity for work, and best of all, a welcoming and always friendly staff. As someone who travels all the time and stays at Hiltons and Marriotts, this place has great character and is safe. Highly recommend!

Great service from all of the staff, who were all super friendly. We got there early in the day and expected to have them hold our bags and return later to check in but they gave us a happy surprise when they said they had a room available for us. One note - the rooms aren't quiet to outdoor sounds. That didn't bother us because were where there for a party which was on property.

Loved the on site parking directly in front. The staff was excellent. I really wanted to go in the heated pool. Check in and check out times are absolutely fabulous.

The front desk staff both AM and PM were sooo amazing! The ambiance is SO FUN, the rooms are modest but the pillows were so comfy and the linens were fresh and clean. We didn't gumb much time in the room since we were in the city to have fun!! Every staff member was so Helpful, Accomodating and great warm personalities. Thank you !!!

Great location and have a character but poor amenities and needs to upgrade the continental breakfast to have more protein aside from just boiled eggs

I would recommend staying at this hotel if you are looking for a place located in the Union Square area. The hotel staff were friendly and very helpful. The hotel was in a great location. Close to various public transportation stops, shops, and restaurants. The hotel is located really close to Chinatown.

This is the best small hotel in Union Square. It's affordable, the rooms are very nice—especially the bathrooms—and it's a friendly and cozy environment. Staff is super nice too. Just don't expect a bar or a social scene or a pool or fancy amenities. You get a great room though!

The hotel is located in downtown, from San Francisco International Airport, we took BART and got off from Powell Street BART station, walk less than 10 minutes to the hotel. My favourite hotel. A few blocks away from the main square. Near amenities, super markets, bars, restaurants, cinemas, shops, buses, metro station. Chose to stay here because it was one of few places that had a/c at this price point. The building is quite old and has a distinctive smell but the room was okay. Bed is nice and the bathroom is clean. Location is good too. There are no slippers in the room nor gratuity water bottles. Breakfast is there, but not really. Coffee tastes weird and there isn't much to eat other than cereal and bananas...

Nice hotel in the heart of Union Square rooms are a bit small and the front desk is helpful

Not a 4 star hotel. But for the price, it was conveniently located. Rooms were clean and bigger than the one i had at the sir Francis Drake. Staff was friendly. And there is a parking garage RIGHT next door.

Enjoyed the hotel overall. Building was rather old but decently renovated, and had a certain charm to it. Everything seemed relatively clean. There is no tea or tea making facilities. Be great if they took that off their website (tea needs boiling water, not coffee maker hot water). Room smelled a little like... dog? or damp? But it was clean and comfy.

A good value. Close to most major transportation and particularly convenient for quick access to expressway. Inexpensive--most nights all included can be gotten for $100 or less. Quieter than most in the area. Feels safer than nearby inexpensive hotels. Security fence makes parking lot feel a lot safer.

The inn's location and price point make it an ideal home base for exploring the San Francisco city/tourism core. Rooms could be cleaner (we saw a cockroach crawling around on the carpet floor into behind the fridge). Door lock malfunctioned, but when asked they attended to it rather quickly. They replaced it. Didn't like the day service lady's attitude about paper receipts and having to wait 3 business days for my deposit to go back into my account. Despite that; this is one of the better decent price places to stay in San Francisco. I would still recommend!

This hotel is always featured on the big name hotel booking sites and typically the rooms can get down to 50% of the original price Great for a cheap stay with moderate amenities but there are more exciting places in better locations in San Francisco. If you are local to the area and need a reasonably priced clean place to say then this is for you

Great clean rooms at an affordable price! Staff was incredibly kind and friendly. Also left my airpods after the stay and they held it for me at the location so I could pick it up. 10/10 would recommend.

My experience at the Touchstone Hotel was nice and comfortable. The room had a welcoming, fresh smell. The beds could be a bit softer, but overall comfort was good. I had a terrific stay at Touchstone Hotel. The room was spotless, and the staff was courteous. I highly recommend this hotel!

While the hotel was definitely ever bit budget they tell you;)--the staff was really warm and helpful. The key card reader had some issues, but the staff works well and knows the quirks. I just rested my head here a night on my way to up to Portland, and it was all I needed. Warm shower and a bed(even if it wasn't the fluffiest thing in the world), WiFi, and the experience was just fine. Do be aware...

The hotel is on a very good location. Building is dated and shows signs of its age. Place is kept clean by the friendly staff. There’s not much by way of amenities but it serves well to sleep in after a full day of walking. Breakfast is free but continental and the selection is very limited. Not bad to start with. It’s free.  I wouldn’t mind staying here again.

Oh my, what to say Staff are reasonably nice enough. The hotel is a bit, might I say, grungy/dingy. From the wooden pole jammed in the window to keep it shut, the circular blotches of paint above the shower, the toast, coffee, cereal, to the stifling hot temperature without AC. AC is usually not a big deal in San Francisco except for when you need it which might be 20-40 times a year but some people...

Excellent service and a pleasant environment. The location is very convenient for getting around, and it's close to the Chinese market. We found many great restaurants within walking distance. Highly recommended!

Nicely renovated room. Great location next to Hayes valley. Good price. Friendly staff. Sq footage is tight. Checkout later than 10 am would be nice. Housekeeping never made our bed. Overall would stay again.

Outstanding experience. Excellent service, cute resort hotel, nice rooms, great location. My wife dropped her cash (hundreds of dollars) in the elevator and the staff returned the small purse to the front desk and found us - how many businesses are this trustworthy nowadays? The Inn at the Opera is adorable and they even name the rooms based on the ballet, it's really cute. The staff is extremely friendly, welcoming and helpful. I have chronic pain issues but still found the bed and pillows very comfortable. The furniture inside my room was really nice and well-maintained and cute and it all matched. We came to SF to celebrate our 20th anniversary in the city where we met 26 years ago. We chose this place for its unique atmosphere and convenient location. We loved everything about our stay. The staff were friendly, the room was eclectic and clean. You can’t beat the location. We will definitely be back for our next visit.

LOVED IT!!! Absolutely loved this hotel! It was cozy, quiet, staff were exceedingly helpful and the location is the best. You can walk out the front door and have food paradise within inches…. Cafes, coffee, pastries and Italian food as good as any we’ve had in Italy! Highly recommend!!
