Nice, well-maintained hotel
Nice quaint hotel in the Civic Center area of San Francisco. Well maintained and charming. Older building, but renovated recently so all amenities are in good condition. Location is good, which is always a wild card in SF from block to block.

Quaint inn right in the midst of the Civic Center
Quaint inn located right in the midst of the Civic Center, but just enough away as to be quiet.

Our room was hot and stuffy so we had to open the window which let in the noise from the outside. The hotel is located a couple blocks from the shops and restaurants at Hayes Valley which was nice. It was very walkable from the BART civic center station.

Enjoyed the atmosphere of this inn. Very cute and decorated nicely. Love the ballet theme on our room.

Everything was close by and it was very nice pleasant stay

The staff was great and very friendly. The room was great, with a small kitchenette. (something I did not expect in the room I thought I picked. The hotel was close to my school and to many restaurants.

This was my first stay at the Inn and I was delighted. The remodeling is gorgeous and classy. I had a Superior Suite with a queen bed, sofa bed in the sitting area, and two full bathrooms. The kitchenette had a microwave and refrigerator. Staff were all very friendly and helpful. I stayed three nights to see the San Francisco Ballet next door at the War Memorial Opera House - the most convenient hotel for the Opera House.

It’s a very nice place, very clean and staff was friendly and made us feel comfortable!
It’s very nice if you’re looking for a place to stay for a concert at the bill graham would definitely recommend this very close and would just walk over. 10/10

Daniel the concierge was really great to Monica and I on our special day getting married in SF City Hall. He answered all of our questions and gave us great suggestions.

The room was overall clean and maintained. The whole area looks decorated and well taken care of. The only thing I will say was the room was small, but I’m sure anyone would agree a clean room > dirty room regardless of size, any day. Anyway we will definitely be coming back to the Inn at the Opera in the future.

Thank you for the stay and keep it clean!

One of my favorite things about this place is that it is never deafeningly loud like many other places in SF. If you want to converse in normal tones of voice with your fellow diners, this is a good choice.
The food and drinks here are generally excellent. It's not the biggest menu, but almost everything I've tried I have liked. There was one time when the gumbo was not very good, but that has been the exception rather than the rule.
The space is large and open, with high ceilings. Not intimate, but still manages to feel inviting. There are a few very large tables, making this a good choice for large groups. There is also a very long bar where you can generally find a seat even if it's busy if you are dining solo.
The service is generally good (not outstanding, but good). The food is reasonably priced if you only plan on getting an entree, but if you decide to order a bunch of sides and drinks it can add up quickly.
All in all, I would definitely recommend trying this place if you like southern food and haven't been here before.

Delicious and rich food. The alligator was flavorful and had a great texture. The red beans and sausage, while sounding simple, was anything but simple tasting. The duck dish was great!

Food is great and different. Boiled peanuts, yum! Be careful if you come when they're busy as they seem unable to handle a rush of people. Patience is a virtue here!

I come here a couple times a month for the Great White poke bowl. The food is consistently solid and the guy who takes the orders always remembers my name. Even though I always forget to bring my frequent buyer stamp cards, he never gets annoyed and just gives me a new ones and tells me to bring them back to consolidate.

A real dark horse candidate for lunch or dinner in Hayes. Fantastic food, pretty much can't go wrong with anything on the menu (and I've had most of it). Not cheap but about right for the area. Definitely worth a visit.

I love this place- great, affordable, but nice diverse menu, we find something for everyone. It was hard for us to find a good, quick dinner place with nice enough food, beer, wine, and this seems to be the only place we could find. A little loud but spacious so you can probably find a quiet corner.

Reliable and good food quality for the price. Note that this is a counter service place and not sit down service. Two of my favorite items are tomato basil soup and the ginger spritzer!

Soup, sandwiches, salads. Great quality for the price. Nice relaxing atmosphere. Sidewalk patio.
Note: I went back for brkfst; even better!

Order at the counter, take a number, find a seat and the good stuff gets brought to you. Drinks are served at the counter so don't forget it. Getting coffee, make it taste better right across from where you ordered. Staff are pretty nice and attentive. It does get pretty loud inside. Seating available outside.

Salad was good but it was a to go order and not nearly enough dressing. It took over 20 minutes to make a salad. Well not 20 minutes, it sat on the shelf, with plenty of staff walking by it but no one bother with it until I finally asked. Disappointed in the service and for 14.50 I should get more dressing than 1/2 of a to go cup. Not sure if I would go back.

Our party of six was seated as soon as we arrived (reservation made on Open Table) and we had a great table by the window. The service was excellent and the food options were explained and the suggestions were well received. From the cocktails to the starters to the entrees and dessert, everything was delicious and prepared perfectly! With six of us we were able to try many different things. I loved the potato-crusted salmon the most, but everything I ate was tasty. We never felt rushed during the meal and the server was attentive but not overbearing. Water glasses were always full and the food was perfectly timed to arrive together and just as the previous course was ending. I had budgeted about $100 for the meal and with two cocktails, starters, an entree and dessert I stayed right on target. I would definitely return - it was the perfect pre-theater dining experience!

Great food but the bartender couldn't have kept us waiting any longer. Took over an hour to finally order , eat soup, and finally get the check. Soup...

Great food and ambience, stays open late, which I really like. Only 4 stars because service was VERY slow. Seemed to be only one server for all of the Hayes St side dining room and a party seated after us had their order taken before us...

Great service. Went in on a Saturday morning for breakfast. I had the french toast. Unlike most places, the bread was cooked properly, and I didn't end up with tough biscuits you had to chew endlessly through or require a hacksaw to cut. The seasoning was great and it was a very enjoyable experience.

I don’t live in SF anymore but when I come back to visit, my hotel is right by this restaurant and I always go for the best French Onion Soup ever... The Syrah from Sonoma that they had by the glass was exceptional too. Bought the bottle back home from the next door wine shop that apparently is run by the same owner.
