Great stay in a charming, vintage, boutique hotel, in the heart of North Beach. The location can’t be beat.

We came to SF to celebrate our 20th anniversary in the city where we met 26 years ago. We chose this place for its unique atmosphere and convenient location. We loved everything about our stay. The staff were friendly, the room was eclectic and clean. You can’t beat the location. We will definitely be back for our next visit.

Used a small computer screen for a TV? Biker gang and street exhibitions took over green street only a couple hundred feet from window. No sleep until about 2 am.

LOVED IT!!!
Absolutely loved this hotel! It was cozy, quiet, staff were exceedingly helpful and the location is the best. You can walk out the front door and have food paradise within inches…. Cafes, coffee, pastries and Italian food as good as any we’ve had in Italy!
Highly recommend!!

Enjoyed our stay
Great spot, desk clerk was really nice, cool vibe, no issues with sound from outside, steep stairs to get in (a negative with luggage), parking garage around the corner.

A little chic spot hidden near Chinatown for those who love the Beat Generation and the life and freedom they represented. Near lots of Cafés and walking distance to a lot of great sites. The decor is unique and original.

What a charming hotel! Love the decor and complimentary sherry. Room was super cute and comfortable. Staff was friendly and helpful. Great locale, right in the middle of SF’s little italy. Would recommend and stay again.

One of my favorite restaurants in North Beach. Garlic is in absolutely everything and in vast amounts, so don't go if you don't like garlic. It's cozy and inviting, but always busy, so make reservations. They don't accommodate big parties easily, though it is possible (just a tight fit).

Absolutely fantastic. Cheaper than we thought it would be. Great food! See if you can get seated in the outdoor patio, we had a wonderful experience but depends on the people you're sharing it with. The covered booths are nice too if you want a private intimate dinner.

All the garlic you could ever want. Decent food but quite expensive for what you get. Drinks were good sized strong for the price. We went for my dad's birthday and dinner for 3 adults and 2 kids was $275. 1 app and 5 entrees. Again quite pricey for what is not a fine dining restaurant. The staff was friendly and we were seated promptly but you pay for the quirky well known restaurant experience.

Do you love garlic? This place is for you! My hubby and I ordered from the prix fixe menu and had the spaghetti and meatballs. We started with the additional simmered garlic appetizer as suggested by our waiter. We then followed with a Cesar salad that was quite good. The main course was good. Meatballs in a garlic meat sauce on al dente spaghetti was average. It wasn't bad, it just seemed to be run of the mill, other than the dozens of garlic cloves (note...I didn't actually count them). The portion on the prix fixe menu are smaller than the regular portions, but were more than enough for me. If we hadn't been flying out the same night, we would have had enough leftovers between the two of us for a nice late night snack.

Given all the choices in the area, not sure I would go back. It was a fun experience, but it is a theme based chain restaurant and it has some of the inherent flaws that come with that business model.

Nothing special here. We went for lunch and I had the prime rib, it wasn't bad, but again nothing special. My wife had a salad that was pretty sad looking. Friends from home said I had to go here and I question why. Nothing I saw with the garlic is really all that creative, they just throw it on top of everything. Ambiance is average, the room in back is cool but I guess they don't sit people there until dinner. Service was fine. I would skip it and eat at one of the other hundreds of amazing restaurants in SF though.

Restroom attendant twice told me to “keep it moving” and to “hurry up” while I used the bathroom in the stall. After the 2nd command, I responded that I was using the bathroom and I’d be out when I was done. He told me that I wasn’t and admitted he looked into the stall and saw I was texting. An argument ensued and I should have reported the incident to management, but very skeptical anything would have been done anyways. Never had such an experience where I’ve been spied on/watched in a private restroom.

Extorted for a $200 lap dance and my wallet was stolen.

The longest I've ever queued for a meal! Get there early while the queue is short otherwise you'll spend a while waiting - we nearly got to 2 hours. However, once you're inside, it's relatively speedy and the staff are helpful. The french toast is amazing and all the food is prepared and presented very well. (This was from a visit in September 2015 so it may well have changed now.)

My husband and I went here about a month ago while in San Fransisco and I am still dreaming about the breakfast sandwich I had there. It wasn't on the regular menu, was just a daily special but it was AMAZING!! Long line but they are effective at getting people moving along quickly. Totally worth the wait, just plan appropriately!

We LOVED this place. Not only is the food outstanding but the customer service was excellent as well. We enjoyed The Farmer omelet, which is packed with delicious goat cheese and a special they had, the Dungeness crab omelet. Both were excellent. We also loved the homemade jam and sourdough baguette that comes with your meal! This place is a local and tourist favorite, so it's apparently always packed but they are very organized and serve the food quickly once you're seated. Well worth the wait in my opinion!

My wife and I only had one morning in San Fran and I'm so glad we waited in line for this place. Mama's breakfast sandwich was INCREDIBLE! I haven't had a breakfast that good in a very long time. SO worth the wait! Nice employees and cute little sitting area. You won't regret coming here.
