Courtyard by Marriott Sunnyvale Silicon Valley in Sunnyvale

The room was small for a king size bed, but it was clearly not cleaned before my arrival. There were stains on the carpet and even some blood stains on the bed, plus the floor had leftover items like medicines lying around. It honestly looked like housekeeping didn’t get to this room at all.

I understand it was Thanksgiving night and staffing was very limited, but if they didn’t have enough people to clean, they really shouldn’t have taken new guests. A basic level of cleanliness is the minimum expectation. Also the room wasn’t cheap, paid around 150$ for a night.

I also paid extra for the breakfast, but on arrival got to know there is no breakfast on that morning.

Additionally, couldn’t get through the help desk, it kept saying it’s busy. Clearly it wasn’t.

On a positive note, the lady at the front desk was incredibly sweet and helpful, especially considering she was working on a holiday evening. She was doing her best despite the situation.

Hoping the management takes this feedback seriously and improves their room preparation process.

This will be quite long but it’s the truth. First off the staff is amazing no issues with the staff besides the one that tried to question me about chilling in the lobby apparently since she made it to the hotel. I travel alone so if I do not decide to go out I like to chill in the lobby rather than the hotel room. She questioned if I actually had a reservation which I felt was inappropriate. Anyways my first day here I checked into my room and was killing ants. It was a few so I didn’t think much of it until the next day they were crawling all over the bathroom garbage. I quickly packed my things to be switched rooms. A guy that was working at the front desk made jokes saying that I was scared of a few ants…but there were over 100 of them and either way it’s nasty and I hate bugs. He also made a comment of me possibly having food in the room but I’m very sure I do not eat in a bathroom and overall there shouldn’t be ants everywhere. Anyways I was accommodated to another room. Everything was okay for the first two days until once again I woke up to tons of ants crawling everywhere in the bathroom…the sink, near the shower and on the door between the closet and bathroom. Once again upset and disgusted I went downstairs to change AGAIN. Also when I was first given this room a previous guest put pads on the ventilation system and a plastic bag over the smoke detector(meaning they obviously smoked in the room and covered it up) overall that was ghetto and should have been taken down before another guest saw it…..The next room had the same issue. Ants on the sink. I have been on vacation from Chicago and just trying to enjoy myself and didn’t feel like going through refund processes etc. So I did a personal remedy. CINNAMON & PEPPERMINT essential oils keeps ants away. I cleaned the room with those and they were gone. But when that wore off they came back and I found the source in the wall they were coming from and I covered that area with Clorox wipes. Overall it’s an issue that needs to be fixed! I am a Airbnb host and my guest never have to complain so I felt uncomfortable about complaining so much about something that shouldn’t be an issue. And the cleaning staff is lazy. There were 3 days I requested cleaning and no one ever came. The one time someone came to clean she didn’t spread the bed, and I can tell she literally did nothing but toss the towels under the sink and the garbage had not been taken out. So from then on I decided not to ask for cleaning and I just started cleaning myself. I’m a very clean person and tidy so I like things to be a certain way. Due to lack of being brought towels and garbage taken out. I would put the trash in the hallway and wash the towels myself to use because I shower in the morning before my workout, then I shower after my workout and then again before I go to bed. Overall the cleaning staff can be better. My last day at the hotel I went to the bathroom and ants were all over the sink.
