It's rustic; certainly not a modern hotel in any sense. Close to Bourbon Street, but that's about it for the pros. The hotel is located on a poorly lit side street; I witnessed a man get mugged in broad daylight right outside the hotel. That being said, do not walk the streets alone. The rooms clearly haven't been updated in the past century, and mine seemed to have a bit of a cockroach problem. The water in the shower starts out cold for the first five minutes and then goes to scalding hot without warning. I've also never really seen anything quite like the Air Conditioner in the room; it rattles all night long, is difficult to adjust and does a poor job at keeping the room cool. I will not be returning.

Great location. Good air conditioning. Mattress not comfortable. Nice pool. Parking is available but didn't know it would cost an additional $30 a day on top of room fee. I felt that it should have been cheaper since room cost wasn't cheap already.

A great old-school hotel. Actual keys old school. The bed and pillows were fine and there was a fridge in the room. There were limite outlets by the bed unfortunately and the only power expander was on the desk table. The air conditioning worked well considering it was 90+ the entire time. The only real complaints were the bathroom and elevator. The bathroom itself was out of my parents bed room from the 70's. The toilet worked perfectly fine and the sink did too, albeit very old models. The shower did not drain at all while in use and the faucet spit out water even when set to shower head. The elevators were rather slow and one smelled like vomit. Only took that one once or twice fortunately though. Overall a great value, but definite room for improvement

Great location. Relatively quiet street. Close to most of the quarter. Only complaint is the bathrooms could use some work.... no pressure and no drainage. Everything else is great. Awesome bang for buck.
14.02.2026 Kathryn
Tucked deep into the Quarter, away from the bustle but within easy walking distance to everything. The staff is the sweetest, most fun bunch of folks. Each room is unique, I stayed in a 3rd floor king and in a 2nd floor queen, both charming. I'LL BE BACK

Very clean and nicely set up. It's an older building so walls are thin and you can definitely hear noises from other rooms and doors closing, but that's to be expected. The staff was great, especially Rebecca at the desk. Great location walking close to a lot of the action.

It is a beautiful hotel and has a wonderful location, especially if you are not there to party. It is in a quieter part of the French quarter. It is an older hotel and could use some upgrades, like the elevator was creaky. Coffee is offered in the morning but it is only regular coffee, no decaf, and there is creamer but no half and half. There was never anybody in the bar, we went several times for a drink but there was no bartender. The beds were not very comfortable. The staff is very friendly and check in and check out was very easy. They use digital keys for the doors which sometimes did not work very well, but it was nice not having to keep up with the key.

I came to New Orleans for a wedding on December 12, 2025 and checked out December 14th, 2025. The hotel is beautiful, quaint, understated, just the perfect hotel a block or two from Bourbon Street. My check-in was easy, they held my bags so I could go for a walk to check out Envie (a fantastic little breakfast nook around the corner) and The French Market (a beautiful outdoor market two blocks down that had great souvenirs and authentic food)… both places were recommended by the receptionist and I loved them. At night I had the pleasure of meeting Rebecca at the front desk (I needed a few waters and a blanket). She was so sweet and helpful on the phone, we had a nice talk about where I’m from and she seemed engaged and genuinely interested. She brought my items up quickly and she made sure I was comfortable for the night. I could’ve talked to her all night with her kind smile and her beautiful southern accent, she reminded me of my mom. When we parted she said “I’m just right downstairs if you need anything else”. The next night when I came in for the night, she was here to greet me again with that comforting smile and she helped me to secure late check-out for the next day. The hotel is old New Orleans on the outside and modern on the inside with many southern touches. I would love to come here again, especially at Mardi Gras time. Thank you for making my stay so wonderful, especially I want to thank Rebecca for making me feel at home. Tanya Rauls

Large and spacious room. Close enough to the action of the French Quarter, but far enough away to have peace and quiet! Great coffee shop around the corner. No complaints

Fantastic Hotel in perfect location, there is an abundance of great restaurants and shopping in the area It has a lovely pool area and parking which is extremely rare. Brad who has worked at the hotel for 43 years was wonderful to deal with, very informative and friendly. We would highly recommend and will return.

I used to detest bloody marys until i had one at Coop's place. Delicious! and the food?! Fantastic. The smoked rabbit jambalaya won my heart. The red beans and rice is chock full of flavour and the staff are kind and sweet as sugar. Definitely a go to place for flavourful food that won't let you down.

Great Cajun chicken and jambalaya. The pork chops with rice and beans was good as well. My wife loved the lamb chops. We had to sit at the bar. The place was full so their were no tables. After over an hour sitting on wooden high chairs it was time to leave.

This is, literally, where the locals go. It was recommended by several locals to us from the hotel to our tour guides. The piece of fried chicken I had was a bit dry (it was probably the joint with more bone and less meat). But hubby had a great meaty piece. Loved the crust with a kick.

It's also the best jambalaya you're going to have in town, with rabbit sausage. They also have a vegetarian options, so don't miss out.

Wait on sidewalk was a little long but some great food to wait for. Would have 5 stars but some of the green beans were somewhat cold, although they had great flavor.

Chicken sandwich doesn’t come with any sides but a full breast of chicken made the sandwich worth it.

Blackened Red Fish was excellent. Gumbo was awesome. Just watch out for the crawfish shells. Caught me off guard when I chomped down.

Note to manager. Should be making some more money serving drinks to those waiting. NOLA lets people have drinks outside of establishments, and we, along with several others walked across the street to get drinks because no one was allowed inside your place that was waiting.
27.10.2017 Martin
A.MAZ.ING! Best gumbo in the French Quarter. Overstuffed Po' Boys are perfect. Everything is just damn good, wait staff and bartenders are friendly and don't mind chatting. A place for locals and out-of-towners. Expect a line at dinner and after since seating (like most places on Decatur) is limited. But do not despair, the line moves quickly and it is *well*worth* the wait. Food service at the bar is accepted and is fast and same menu as table seating. Best time to go: ALL DAY!

Almost never write bad reviews because I can always see the best in all places. But this place was the absolute worst. They had two empty tables but refused to sit us because they weren’t for ‘two tops’. Seriously, save your money and go anywhere else!

The Maison is a great place to enjoy live music. I have been here multiple times and I’ve never been disappointed. You’ll hear everything from incredible traditional jazz to the sickest funk your ears have ever experienced.
31.10.2017 Lauren
Visitor from out of town. Went to this place on a Saturday night. Great live jazz & funk music. Very upbeat! A lot of fun! Love the balcony over the stage.
12.10.2017 Richard
We had a great time! We were just walking around looking for dinner and this club had an amazing brass and vocal group on stage. Got right in and sat way in the back so we would hear the music but still easily talk. Wonderful roasted duck and a mean spicy Jambalaya. Drinks were king sized too - and reasonable!
20.07.2017 Dina
With so many music venues to choose from, it can be confusing without personal recommendations. Even so, we put a list together and, since we're visiting with our boys, one of whom is 18, we limited our search to places that welcome families. Lucky for us, The Maison is one of those places and the evening was a terrific success. Wednesday night, we saw The New Orleans Jazz Vipers perform two sets. They were fantastic as were the two dancers who performed during the second set, (while other patrons danced along as well). Not clear if the dancers were hired or not but either way, it made for a very enjoyable evening. If you choose to have dinner there, be aware this is typical pub fare, on the greasy side, not particularly indicative of New Orleans cuisine. Service was very good however, even as the place filled up. Highly recommend but would choose to eat elsewhere if possible.

Amazing atmosphere. Can both be romantic, as well for meeting with friends. But note you can't stay longer than 1h30, so you better know what time the show starts.

Okay, so ...
1. (kind of a minus) we were given a time limit on our seats. We didn't have reservations, they had seats, but were told we needed to leave in 90 minutes.

The rest are pluses -

2. They had live entertainment.
3. They have a variety of vegetarian options. Mac and Cheese - OMG
4. You have to try the Lamb Sliders - they literally melt in your mouth
5. Dessert, I mean you can't go wrong.
6. Great drink menu - I had their seasonal special, made with apple whiskey, YUM!
02.12.2017 Lauren
Food was delicious and flavorful. The band was mellow and added to the nice atmosphere and vibe of the restaurant. Without a reservation it was about a 40 min wait, and since they don't have a cover, the staff goes around with a bucket collecting tips for the band. Overall good experience but the waiter could have been a little more attentive.
24.11.2017 Hari
This was a short love affair. First time we were here, 2 years back, loved it. Thinking now that it was because of the band that was playing there. This time around though, was put off by the pretentious cartoon of a guy who seated us, making us wait till our reserved time of 10.15, even though there were many tables free at 10. He even let a group of "white" folks without reservation go in as well. The food menu also didn't seem too extensive and couple of my friends who were vegetarians didn't really enjoy their food as well. Not going to go back because of that one "dude"
31.10.2017 Virginia
Food was delicious. Steak fries are to die for. Hubby liked the bulkogi. Loved the muse namesake drink. Staff super friendly, nice little bar atmosphere. Music was just a little to mellow for our taste, but talented musicians.
