I recently stayed at OceanCliff Hotel in Newport and had a lovely experience overall. The ocean views are absolutely stunning and the property itself is beautiful, especially if you enjoy peaceful coastal scenery. The location along Ocean Drive makes it feel like a true getaway while still being close to downtown Newport.

The staff was welcoming and helpful throughout my stay. The room was clean and comfortable, though a few small updates could make it even better. Overall, it’s a charming spot with incredible views and a relaxing atmosphere. I would definitely return and recommend it for a scenic Newport stay!

Average food. Bad drinks (messed up order) and then service was terrible. Food out before drinks, asked for bread 3 times and it never came, lipstick crust on the wine glass, fly in the martini.

Beautiful view. Come here and only order a drink from a can.

We flagged the wine glass and fly in martini. They brought me a new wine glass and I had to pour the wine into the new glass myself. We did flag it to the manager and they apologized at the end but regardless.

OceanCliff is a phenomenal oceanfront Newport wedding venue! The ocean views are impossible to beat. The mansion itself is classic and elegant, with rooms full of natural light and beautiful architectural details that make getting ready and candids feel effortless. The ceremony terrace already has an arch and is ready for your florist to add finishing personal touches! Definitely opt for the getting ready cottage - it's full of light and beautiful for photos!

The coordinators at OceanCliff are fantastic. They’re calm and organized, which makes the day feel smooth no matter how many moving parts there are. From cocktail hour on the terrace to a dinner and dancing in the ballroom, the flow of the day feels seamless. If you’re looking for a Newport venue that blends dramatic ocean views with refined, timeless elegance, OceanCliff is an absolute dream!

Just had my wedding at Oceancliff this past weekend and it was everything. When they say dream wedding.. they truly provide you that. From the very beginning with Amanda and working with Alison on the final steps.. it has been phenomenal to work with them. Hotel staff was amazing (shoutout to Stephen.. the best). Really took care of our family and went above and beyond. OC Coordinator - Reidyn.. thank you will never be enough. She was a superstar and added so many sweet touches. I can write a novel on how amazing she was. The food was out of this world. I’m still getting text from guests on how amazing everything was. The ambience of the venue to the food the staff and hotel stay.. it was nothing less than perfect. Our wedding was the dream we hoped for and having it at Oceancliff was a huge reason why that came true.

Beautiful breathtaking location and excellent hotel. Went off season and had a great time. Staff is super helpful and attentive, rooms are spotless and updated (not sure they updated the photos but they definitely upgraded their furniture recently). Overall great hotel and I think definitely a hidden gem of sorts.

Our main objective for this trip was to visit the mansions, so being downtown on the harbor wasn't a priority. I know most people want to be in walking distance to Newport shops and restaurants, but if a peaceful location with stellar water views appeals to you, consider this resort. The exterior of the building is weathered and needs maintenance, but the units are large and in decent condition. We were assigned unit P07. It was located near the check-in area and was a spacious one bedroom two bath unit on the first floor. Typical of Newport condo resorts, it had a partial rather than full kitchen. There was a two-burner cooktop, full size refrigerator, and a toaster oven in addition to microwave, toaster etc. There were adequate pots and pans and utensils to cook the basics. We had a great view of the bay and enjoyed watching ships and sailboats pass by. One evening as we were sitting in front of the picture window, a huge ship came into view, which turned out to be the Queen Mary 2. We and several of our neighbors raced out onto the sweeping lawn that goes down toward the cliff and took photos. The resort next door has a restaurant, but it's only open for lunch and dinner Thursday through Sunday. We ate there three times and enjoyed our meals. They host wedding parties and similar events, therefore most of their business is on weekends. Oceancliff is minutes away from Brenton State Park, which is free and has great views, picnic tables, kite sales and a food truck during mealtimes. We took our folding chairs over there and spent a few hours enjoying the view. It's also super close to Fort Adams. Outside the fort you'll find a park with picnic tables and fabulous views. You can take the hop-on-hop-off Newport Harbor Ferry from this area. (Currently $18.00/per person per day). It makes a few stops along the harbor including Goat Island and Bowen's Wharf. Oceancliff has a sporadic free shuttle to downtown. The schedule keeps changing, apparently due to lack of staff to drive the shuttle. Based on prior reviews it ran daily except for Friday. When we arrived that had changed to Friday evenings, a few hours on Sunday, and a few hours on Thursday. The days/times didn't work for us, so we never used it. If they ran every day and for longer hours, it would have been a huge help. We had an issue with one kitchen burner not working well, and maintenance ran over and replaced it in a jiffy. Everyone we encountered from the front desk to maintenance was very cheerful and welcoming. While the distance from shops and restaurants may bother some vacationers, we found it a good tradeoff for a quiet, private location with a fabulous view.

Attended for a wedding. Venue was great. View was incredible. Only con was the amount of bees around. My father actually got stung by one.

Great venue for the classic Newport destination wedding. Castle like structure with incredible views of the bay with sailboats passing by offshore. Outdoor wedding arbor facing the ocean for ceremony. Cocktails on the patio. Glass walled ballroom with 180 deg views of the water for the reception. Onsite restaurant and bar open to public or reserve for your special occasion. 24 hotel rooms for guests to stay overnight including suite #1 for the wedding couple. Gate house has 4 large bedroom rooms, full kitchen and large family room. Perfect for bridal party prep and after party. Friendly staff ready to accommodate all of your wedding needs. Plenty of parking with valet service for your guests. ???

We were attending a wedding and staying overnight. Beautiful old castle hotel. The wedding was beautiful with amazing backdrop of the bay. Food and service at the wedding was excellent. The concierge, bellhops and all the other staff was very friendly and accommodating. The only gripe is that the room needed a little maintenance. The bathroom doorknob fell off a few times and the old vintage furniture needed some minor repairs. Having a mini fridge in the room would be nice as well. Overall it was an excellent experience

Amazing dinner here. Prix Fixe was superb. Waiter Carl was probably one of the best I’ve ever had. Why this place doesn’t have a Michelin star I don’t know.

Definitely a 5 star dining experience! We did the tasting menu for our mini moon which highlighted a lot of squash given the season. Highlights were the squash and crab soup and the venison. The menu allows for optionality which was perfect for my husband who is a picky eater. He could go with the tortellini and beets, whereas I opted for the seafood options like the oysters and lobster.
Dario and the staff also threw in some off menu treats like prosecco, extra desserts and apple cider + gooseberry preserves for the road.
Definitely a splurge for a special occasion but well worth it given the 5 star experience!

Good food and great views. Whether you’re sitting on the patio, the bar, or inside, you have great water views and the boats passing by. Valet is complementary and there are plenty of Adirondack chairs to lounge in and enjoy the passing vessels after your meal. My wife and I had the Acadia Redfin Fish Tacos and the Fried Tomato Sandwich.

It's my absolute pleasure to review this restaurant, it was a beautiful dining experience on the water. I made a lunch reservation for The Lawn but ended up choosing the Dining Room indoors. The level of cleanliness was much appreciated, the views were absolutely beautiful, the food- delicious and the staff was a pleasure to interact with. It checked all the boxes for a 5 star experience.
The the Harissa carrots app was unexpectedly super delicious! And the other dishes were also fantastic.
For me the star of my meal was the desert. The house made ice cream and sorbet was unbelievable- particularly the passion fruit sorbet when paired with the chocolate ice cream. I'll be dreaming about it forever, which is saying a lot because I don't have a sweet tooth or prefer food. These are an absolute must-try!
If you're able to dine here while in town, please do, you won't regret it.

I can’t speak highly enough of the Dining Room. 7 stars. More meaningful Michelin stars. The view is stunning and hits you first. The service (Harrison) was perfect for such a venue. Ever present but never hovering. Informational and interesting. And the food… the pictures don’t do the dishes justice.
