An unpleasant situation occurred: my wife and I took the overnight train to Bukhara and arrived at the hotel around 1:00 a.m. The receptionist told us the hotel would be closing the next day for major renovations (they explained the reason: no heating). The decision to begin the renovations had been made a week before our arrival (as we were told), but the hotel owners had given us no notice (even though we had booked in advance). We were offered a transfer to another hotel nearby (owned by the same owner). Since this was happening at 1:00 a.m., we decided not to argue and moved to the other hotel (Kabir Hotel), which turned out to be much worse in quality (shabby, old furniture, and a smell of sewage).
Accordingly, I'm giving it a low rating because the basic requirements weren't met. The only bright spot was the receptionist at the new hotel; he tried his best to please us.

Arriving in Bukhara, the area around this hotel (located right near the Lyabi Hauz Pool), is stunningly beautiful. Fountains, trees, swans, restaurants, music, madrassas, you absolutely cannot beat this location in Bukhara. Right on the pedestrian only part of Bakhovaddin Nakshband Street, but only metres away from a taxi rank, it was actually a bit difficult to find. I'm not sure if their sign was missing, but it is immediately next to the Classic Cafe Coffee House, so if you can't find it, just ask there. A comfortable stay and a good buffet breakfast. It was a bit of a walk to the Ark, but it was a very enjoyable walk with things to see all along the way. I was quite surprised at how great Bukhara is. For a touristy place, they do tourism right.

A delightful hotel with characterful rooms all looking down onto a quiet courtyard where you can eat breakfast if the weather is fine. Good breakfast, and incredibly quiet considering it is in the heart of the historic centre of the city. Visited as part of a group tour. Might be a little difficult to find, as it is down an alleyway, without a very obvious sign.

Traditional Bukhara decoration, comfortable, clean, with a cozy resting area in the middle of the courtyard. The location is very strategic, right in the center of Hozzo lobby and surrounded by many restaurants and cultural music performances. Plenty of food choices. The staff and owner are very helpful. Highly recommended.”
