Rizo Boutique Superior Hotel in Bukhara

As soon as we arrived the owner told us a long winded lie about a Swiss tourist who broke his leg and was in hospital and whose belongings were still in his hotel room, therefore could only offer us one room instead of two, which we already reserved in advance on Booking. He showed us the only room he had left and we were happy to take it for one night but then he said we would have to pay for the price of two rooms. We argued with him that this was unfair and eventually he called his boss, even though his family own the hotel, and he said he could move the Swiss guys belongings and we could have the two rooms. We never saw the Swiss tourist ever, clearly it was a lie. My friends room was fine but mine had no outside window, only a window into the courtyard which had the lights on all night and I could hear everything going on in other rooms around the floor. We also paid more than what was quoted on Booking and the owner completely made up the currency rate from dollar to som, even though we reserved in euros. When we wanted to wash our clothes, instead of bringing them to our room they hid the clothes and didn’t give them to us until we paid €50 which is extortionate and daylight robbery quite frankly especially when the average monthly wage in Uzbekistan is €250 per month. The women who we gave the laundry money to also tried to not give us back our change by offering us a trip around the city which of course was another scam. All three generations of this family made us feel uncomfortable by following us around, trying to scam us and outright lying. I would not wish a stay in this hotel on my worst enemy. This hotel needs to be investigated and shut down asap.

They said (lied) that only one room was available for us even though we booked two rooms. They wanted us to pay for two rooms instead of one room. After we pointed out that this was unfair, we eventually got two rooms but we did get an accusational speech that we were not being kind which was very rude and made us feel uncomfortable. We only noticed after paying for the rooms that there were similar reviews complaining about the owner lying and scamming. Also the laundry was extremely expensive. 50 euros for one load of washing. The woman who we gave the money to tried to distract us while we were waiting for our change. We had to explicitly state we needed the change instead of information about tours. The breakfast is very deep fried, sugary and heavy. The fruit and veg were not fresh. All three generations were following us around and trying to scam us. All in all, we felt uncomfortable and ripped off in this hotel. Do not recommend.

Also one of the rooms had no window and looked out in the courtyard and was very noisy.
