Jahongir BB in Samarkand

Centrally located, the hotel offers clean rooms and a cozy atmosphere, along with a charming breakfast. The interior garden and common areas make you feel as though you’ve stepped into an Uzbek home.

Not too bad located. Staff is friendly enough. Room is decent and clean. Close to mini Mart, a burger joint and shashlik joint. Breakfast is okay.

A great location close to many of the cities main tourist attractions. The staff are all friendly and wonderful, many of them speak enough English so we can communicate easily.

The rooms are comfortable, quiet and clean, the beds are also comfortable. Probably the best breakfasts we have had in Uzbekistan as well.

I would certainly recommend this guest house (not to be confused with the hotel with a similar name just down the street) if you are staying in Samarkand.

We stayed a night in this beautiful BB while visiting Samarkand. The inside courtyard is with a very peaceful and wonderful garden. The room was also very nice. The BB is also few steps away from the Registan square. But what the BB excels is in the services! Not only did they arranged us transport around the city but also a tour with a guide. Not only, we had a problem with train tickets (we had booked the wrong one) they accompanied us to the station and helped us to get a new one. Top service. Top hotel manager! The kindest people we ever met in hotel business. If you plan to visit Samarkand this is the place to stay. Highly recommended!

We stayed here for 3 nights at the end of March. Our room was on the ground floor in the corner. It didn't have much natural light but was lovely in terms of decoration, and the beds were comfortable. The bathroom was well appointed with a great shower and excellent water pressure. It also had pretty tiles. We received a good welcome, and the ladies in the breakfast room were really sweet. Breakfast was great! The WiFi in our room wasn't great (probably due to the location of the room). The TV didn't work. We told the man in reception who got a replacement tv box eventually. The location was great, being a short walk to The Registan. We would probably stay here again.

Jahongir Guest House (a minute's walk down the street from the main hotel) was well located to the old city in Samarkand (Registon was under a 10 minute walk). SERVICE: I didn't encounter bad service anywhere in Uzbekistan. Everyone at the front desk spoke good English and was helpful and proactive, orienting me to the city, and chatting with me about Uzbekistan and the US. ROOM: The house itself is large, built round an external atrium. My room on the ground floor had more character and local detailing than in the main hotel, something I liked. Most beds in Uzbekistan are quite firm, which I also happen to like. Complimentary water was provided. That said, decor and design in both places was reasonably simple, you aren't staying here for that. BREAKFAST: Served in the dining area as a buffet, and was a little more Russian and less interesting than at other places I stayed. WIFI: No issues PAYMENT: They say they take credit cards here, but my American one was denied. I needed to get cash at an ATM - but this is now not a complicated matter - there was one at Registon. Still, assume you will have to pay in cash. LOCATION AND SIGHTS: All attractions are close by, including Registon Square, which is a must at sunset and nightfall. Best tip, I thought you would have to leave the square promptly at closing - 6 pm. People lingered inside longer, it seemed. The blue hour and illumination here was amazing, and less gaudy when I went then I have seen in pictures.

The air in Samarkand, even in the low season, held a quiet magic. After the bustle of my usual routine, Jahongir Hotel became my haven. Just a five-minute stroll from the magnificent Registan Square, it offered a perfect blend of tranquility and proximity to the old city. The staff, with their warm smiles and genuine hospitality, made me feel instantly at ease. It was the ideal escape for a weary soul seeking to disconnect and recharge. The town itself, I imagine, must be a breathtaking spectacle in the vibrant hues of spring. I wholeheartedly recommend this enchanting destination to anyone yearning for an unforgettable journey.

Our stay at Jahongir Guest House was comfortable and only a few minutes walk from the Registan. The room was large and comfortable, and breakfast had plenty on offer, though not as much as other places we’d stayed in Uzbekistan. At most other places we were offered freshly cooked eggs. For value, it was a very convenient place to stay.

Stayed here for two nights in September 2024. Pros: 1) The rooms, bathrooms and the lobby were clean and spacious. 2) The place is very quiet at night and the sleep quality was great. 3) The WIFI was free with great connectivity and speed. 4) The hotel front desk is manned 24 hours and spoke excellent English. 5) The front desk staff was very courteous and helpful in arranging all our travel needs. 6) The hotel has a laundry service. 7) The location is good. It is a 5 minute walk to Registan. 8) The tariff is reasonable. Cons: 1) The breakfast is served late. It only starts at 8 am. The choices are limited. 2) The hotel laundry service is slow. It takes a full 24 hours. 3) There are not many restaurants/eating options close to the hotel.
