Royal G MAX in Golem

We were dropped off at royal g max in error by our cab on sept 16th 2025, should have gone to royal g hotel and spa. Our cab drove off leaving us at reception. Reception staff checked register and told us we were at the incorrect hotel. From that moment the 3 people at reception, one blond woman, one dark haired women and one man all were approximately 30 years old were extremely rude to us and myself and my husband asked their help of what we should do. They could not of cared less about the situation we found ourselves in, they did not offer to call us a cab or make any offers of help. We are over 70 years old and English and got visibly upset at our situation. I begged them after about 20 minutes to call us a cab. The dark haired women said all cabs were busy and she would tell us when one became available. I then said I wanted to speak to a manager, she then looked worried and said a cab would come in a couple of minutes, so why did she tell me there were none available. I have never been so upset at the behaviour of hotel staff in my life and we have traveled all over the world, I can only think it was because we are elderly and English that they thought they could get away with this treatment of us.

Review of Royal G Max Hotel, Albania (Stay: 22–29 August 2025) I stayed at Royal G Max for the second time – my previous visit was in 2024 during a study tour as a travel agent with Rego-Bis – and I must honestly say I noticed a significant decline in quality. The rooms were clean and without issues, which is definitely a positive point. The pool and beach area were also well maintained, and here I really have no complaints. However, when it comes to food and service, the experience was disappointing compared to last year. For a 4–5* hotel, the buffet lacked variety and had very few local dishes. Afternoon snacks were of surprisingly low quality – a huge step down from what I experienced previously. The restaurant service left me particularly unsatisfied. Exactly two minutes after 2 p.m., waiters would start clearing plates, sometimes even while guests were still seated, which gave me the feeling of being rushed and treated as an intruder rather than a valued guest. The atmosphere in the hotel is also very stiff and formal, making it far less attractive for families with children. Another major drawback was the use of paper cups for coffee and tea. In my opinion, this is unacceptable for a hotel positioning itself at this level – something you might expect in a 2* property, but not here. Summary: As a travel agent, I see no solid arguments to recommend this hotel to my clients anymore. While the cleanliness and outdoor facilities remain fine, the decline in food quality, restaurant service, and overall atmosphere makes Royal G Max fall short of expectations for a 4–5* standard.

At first glance, the hotel looks promising. The rooms are clean, regularly serviced, and there is nothing to complain about in this regard. Unfortunately, everything else is a chain of disappointments. The food is monotonous, the same every day, and always cold — after a few days you can’t even look at the buffet anymore and start wondering where you can get a hot meal outside the hotel. On top of that, drinks are served only in plastic cups. There is no menu at the bar — you have to guess what can even be ordered. Cocktails are made using soda machine drinks, which taste like cheap concentrates. The restaurant seems to be focused mainly on outside guests, while the people actually paying for their stay are treated as second-class. Entertainment is practically non-existent — apart from sitting by the pool and sipping a drink from a plastic cup, there is nothing to do. The worst part, however, are the attempts to overcharge guests. There are situations where staff try to collect additional payments for services that were already settled in advance. The most common example is the tourist tax, which many guests were asked to pay again at check-out, even though it had already been included in the booking. This leaves a very bad impression and ruins the whole stay. In summary: the hotel could have class if someone took food service, guest care, and honesty seriously. For now, this is not a place I could recommend. 2 stars only for the cleanliness of the rooms and the pool — everything else is a major disappointment.
