Explorer Hotel Kitzbuhel in St. Johann in Tirol

Location, location, location!! But really, the people, the team, making your stay perfect. The rooms are nicely appointed, certainly spotlessly clean. The cleaning staff was always cheerful and precise. The front desk was a splendid experience, check in and out was a breeze. The bartender was absolutely aqesome. A sincere desire to please. Even when a bus load hit the bar he handled the crowd like a happy pro! The lady working the breakfast buffet, keeping the tables clear...she would RUN! Talk about being dedicated to the guest experience, she was always delightful and worked liked lightning! Kudos! The breakfast buffet was so incredibly well stocked, I was blown away. The breads, the yogurt options, fruits, cheeses, meats and....the do-it-yourself omlette bar was a dream come true. This was recommend by a local, and as far as I am concerned she is a genius! Oh, add a parking garage, plus all the equipment and amenities for the skier/snowborder to keep them flying down the slopes. Highly recommend, great job!

1. After checking in and opening the room door for the first time, there was some stranger sitting in the bed. Closed the door, went back to the reception, told reception lady that there was a person inside our room. Lady acted surprised and did not believe us - checked from the computer and came to the understanding that there was a late check out. She did not have any other rooms so we had to wait. We did our sad faces, but ok, what else can you do - understandable. She promised us free coctails - which we did not receive.

2. We had one firealarm go off because 10 ferrari guys decided to start their cars at the same time in the underground garage. Whole hotel had to go outside, some in t-shirts and socks. Cold.

3. Hotel and rooms are nicely designed, the old wood in some places looks nice.
After using the shower the water splashes outside the shower area, but that is a minor thing. There is no cup or a glass in the room to drink tap water or smth, also, a minor thing.
Next to the reception is a big table with tools to fix and wax your snowboard and skiis for free which is very cool!!!
Bar\lounge was very nice we were there almost every night (stayed 6 nights at the hotel). The serving was quite fast, beer is cheap. And you can order a lot of pizzas.

4. Breakfast.
Stoves - lose them. There are 3 stoves - 1 worked great, 1 got only warm, 1 did not work. But every morning you watched how people tried to make food on the not working one. Every morning you guys ruined somebodies morning with that stove.
If i was a employee there i would put a sign on the not working one "do not work". Eventually there was a line behind that working one.
Again, lose those stoves, premake scrambled eggs into a big pan and end of story.

Overall it was all fine and would recommend.

Everything you need plus an excellent spa. The rooms are very practical, spaciuous enough with lot of room to store your belongings. Bathroom is perfect. Commity room is hospitable and practical for playing games and sit with your company. Breakfast is superb and very well managed. The spa was an absolute bonus.

The people running this place are the highlight as they were all really helpful and nothing seemed to big an issue, the hotel itself is a little no frills and not necessarily the kind of hotel you'd want to spend the whole day in, so its very focused on providing you a place to rest between ski sessions. rooms were lovely to look at although unnecessarily hot at night. Rooms had smart TVs so we were able to log in to English speaking services like netflix. no tea making facilities in the rooms but 24hr access to a tea/coffee machine in the lounge. beds were soft but could have done with a better standard of pillow. hotel is described as ski in/out but in reality is a 10-15 minute walk to the main gondola station. would highly recommend for a sports/ski holiday.
